@scousechick87 Me too! I love Luke and Noah, but I'm definitely enjoying Van and Eric's chemistry. Personally, I think Van and Eric's kisses were hotter because they were not as familiar with each other in real life. Some actors say that it's more awkward kissing close friends. Because when Van and Eric aren't kissing, Van has way more chemistry with Jake in every other way. Their relationship is more believable.
I was a little bit disappointed by this scene, and by the ending. I think they kind of throw the reid's "I love you" here becaus ehe was gonna die and they kind of wanted luke to know that. I mean it is stupid to make reid die so soon... I don't know...I always pictured the time reid was gonna say I love you to Luke a little bit more exceptional... well... don't know what to make of it.

Ok, here's what happened. That was Reid's eveil twin RAOUL in the car when the train hit. RAOUL had been extorting money from Reid for months and he threatened to go after Luke, so. Reid told RAOUL that he had to drive to Bay City to settle it, and Reid sabotaged his car so that RAOUL would get killed. Reid told Luke about it, which is why Luke got thru his grieving so fast. Reid and Luke are living happily in Mass. where they own/run a sandwich shop. SHUTUPITHAPPENED.

After rewatching this scene again (after calming down since I was pissed at the writers), I agree with you that when Reid said "there, I said it" he was sayingthat to himself as much as to Luke....like he could actually say it out loud and mean it without the world falling apart or something! He actually allowed himself to finally say what he'd wanted to say for quite some time....no more bottling it up and it came out very "Reid-like"!!!!!
I am from Europe and I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to watch this amazing love story. I am as disappointed as all the others with this end . Thet's why I beg you not to post the scenes with the funeral or I don't know wht else . Let us imagine they are still together and happy. They deserve it. And we deserve too. But I tell you, no offence, the Europeans are more broad- minded when it comes to gay relationships.( see Christian and Oliver or Eastenders).

@ddscurtis These are the VERY words I used when I calledATWT. Luke told Reid they would make love when "it was right." He told NOah that he and Reid WERE RIGHT for each other and that he and NOah were NOT. Yet, they never made love. I feel the writers teased us for months and we got NO REWARD. I feel upset, betrayed, or unappreciated as a longtime viewer of this soap! NOah was off the show for months & not missed. Why did we not get our LuRe ending? Where's the dream scene?

Upon further reflection, I love how this is not only shot outdoors but against the greenery and the hospital. The trees behind Reid give the scene this Eden-like quality and so the natural way that ESS says the lines just fits even more. The fact that Reid is kissing Luke and telling him ILY out in the open shows that Reid is not scared of being out and proud. Finally, any of Reid's coworkers in the hospital might be watching but he doesn't care. Wonderful wrap-up to a wonderful relationship!
@brechh, yeah, I agree about the "there I said it part" .....it cheapened the scene for me. I mean, if he was gonna say it like that, he could have said it when they were sitting outside of the java......that part should have been left out.
I love the "I love you" part, but I don't really like the "there, I said it" part.. as if he did it to prove to Luke he could. I want to believe he said it because he wanted to say it.
@Brechh I personally though it was a very Reid-like addition and didn't take it badly. He had obviously made a point of never saying that to anyone his entire life and it was almost like he was saying to not just Luke but the universe itself, there, I did it (and it wasn't bad!). He sounds a little shaky when he says that line and I think it communicates his nerves well. Also, he's never been Mr. say all the right things at the right time so it's really in character for me.
@Brechh I truly believe that he did want to say it, that he's been wanting to say it for a long time. And the "there, I said it" was very Reid, like he was finally able to do it, to admit that he really did love Luke and that the world didn't blow up or something when he said it. I think that part was there for himself, not for Luke.
@danrdrewf EXACTLY!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. And the way he said ILY, you could tell that he had been in love with Luke for some time, but was too scared to say the words. GOD I LOVE THIS SCENE. The melancholy music isn't helping my tendency to cry whenever I watch it however.
@Jennloam Yes, the sad music and Luke's sad look when he was watching Reid drive away, was just...terribly heartbreaking, knowing what's coming. There was definitely a sad undertone to a what was on the surface a beautiful scene.
I don't think Reid was scared to say ILY at all but most people wait to confess their love if they fell that quickly cos it can be overwhelming for the new partner, esp if they just finished another relationship. I don't think it was a sad look. It looked like realization to me. Luke realized in this moment that they were in love with each other. I believe it was the moment for him to begin and picture a life together with Reid which, I agree, makes it sadder to watch.
@09parisgirl I agree with you about Luke's look. But I do think Reid was afraid to say it. In the show a day earlier he says something along the lines of how he's just figured out that it's a bad idea to be scared of love and how he has avoided love in the past as a defense mechanism. And Luke asks him to say it out loud and he balks earlier in the day. So here, in this scene, he is finally brave enough to say, likely for the first time in his life (besides saying it to family members perhaps).
@Brechh I think the "there, I said it" was him saying that to himself! Obviously, we find his parents died while he was very young and he was raised by that horrible uncle. Probably never ever said those words, or heard them said to him. It was a self-revelation that he was finally feeling it and able to say it to someone else!
I hate that it's all playing out like this....after waiting all these months for the final episodes no one could have told me or convinced me that they would not have gotten the opportunity to make love. I mean I could even almost bear this if they would have had at least one love making scene to seal the deal. At least that would have been one more dlip for the archives...something to sink our teeths in. but noooooooooo..they just ram the LuRe fanbase up the ass and say addios chumps. The End!
I can't make myself re-watch Thursday or Friday's LuRe episodes on youtube and that's a first. I don't think I can watch Reid trying to get out of the car and his eyes. This vid I WILL be watching repeatedly, so thank you so much for posting it!!!
CG, JP, and ATWT sold out its loyal viewers and fans by killing Reid and leaving Luke to a life of perpetual pain, suffering, hurt, and misery. Treating the best characters and the best couple with this horrendous ending is beyond comprehension. While every straight couple gets a happy ending, the gay couple and characters are either killed or left misersble. 100% homophobia and hypocrisy, 0% empathy for faithful fans.
@TheSydneycan I spoke with CG/JP and TPTB honestly think that in the end, it will show that Luke is finally a man who can stand on his own two feet. They wanted to cap off Luke's story showing his very hard journey throughout his life has made him a strong person ready to face the world. Their thoughts, not mine. I would have rather him sharing his life with a wonderful man who knew his worth and loved him, flaws and all.
@SnapeGirlUSA: CG, JP, and TPTB have the nerve to say that. They should be slapped tightly by each and every LURE fan in the world and still they will not be punished enough. I hope and pray that they die in RL (preferably in a tragic accident) for treating their loyal fans mercilessly. I don't think they would even consider killing Reid if it was straight couple. Luke was the best personality (very strong) on ATWT. He did not deserve this. He deserved a life with the love of his life, Reid.
@TheSydneycan In all honesty, I think if Reid wasn't such a popular character with so many fans, they would have just sent him away and gotten Nuke back together. if they wanted a tragic death in the end, it would have been Dusty rescuing Janet while delivering the baby.

It is clear from some changes made to scenes and spoilers back in the late spring that the storyline was altered considerably. I think you are right - it was going to be a NUKE reunion, but the popularity of ESS (alone and paired with Luke) meant that we got to see him pretty much instead of Noah almost up to the bitter end, and NO ONE had predicted that at all. The fans had a role - and I am proud of that.
@SnapeGirlUSA: Continued - My GF and me are straight, but we never tolerate discrimination of any kind. Love, care, and affection is a right and perogative of every human, NOT only straight people. CG, JP, and TPTB do not know what loving, caring, and sharing is. They did need to make Luke strong, he already was. What they neede to do was give him the one thing that he was searching for all his life, TRUE LOVE. Luke had found that in Reid, but the bigots took it away ruthlessly.

This is the only part of todays episode I've watched. This is where the story ends right. I mean there's only 8 days left in the show. Why do we need to see anything else but our two guys looking lovely in the outdoor lighting & being in love.

@ddscurtis See I thought it was perfect, because for one, Reid is not one to get all mushy, he's direct, which he was here, two, he has had this lifelong phobia of love and putting himself in jeopardy, so his nervousness when he says 'there, I said it' is just perfect to me, and three, he and Luke don't know that they aren't going to have any more time together, so this kiss feels as genuine yet every day as one would expect it to be. I burst into tears when I just saw it again now.
@astrolatry me too. This was the only realistic and meaningful part out of this entire ep, maybe even this entire week, and it really capped off their wonderful relationship. I will cherish it in the face of all the crap JP and CG threw our way otherwise!

I am from Europe and I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to watch this amazing love story. I am as disappointed as all the others with this end . Thet's why I beg you not to post the scenes with the funeral or I don't know wht else . Let us imagine they are still together and happy. They deserve it. And we deserve too. But I tell you, no offence, the Europeans are more broad- minded when it comes to gay relationships.( see Christian and Oliver or Eastenders).

They had two kisses and are not shown anymore. German soaps seem to be the only soaps that show Gay relationships realistically with love and affection.

@ksb78 true! but at least they keep the characters on the show!! I am pissed about Aaron and Jackson that storyline truly sucks. But Christian and Syed you can't complain about that one, ya they aren't on it right now but they have had a lot of really good realistic "love and affection" scenes!! Keep in mind it's a soap there are so many storylines, a lot of storylines aren't shown constantly every episode!! At least we can both agree that German soaps are the best ones!!

@kmasters1980. Oh, honey I know how the soaps roll. I grew up watching OLTL, AMC. GH, and sometimes ATWT. I know about the story droughts and OLTL has blocks of them. LOL! I love Chris&Sy. And I'm hoping their story turns well. Eastenders reminds me of American soaps with their flare for the dramatic, but waaaay better acted. LOL!

@ddscurtis These are the VERY words I used when I calledATWT. Luke told Reid they would make love when "it was right." He told NOah that he and Reid WERE RIGHT for each other and that he and NOah were NOT. Yet, they never made love. I feel the writers teased us for months and we got NO REWARD. I feel upset, betrayed, or unappreciated as a longtime viewer of this soap! NOah was off the show for months & not missed. Why did we not get our LuRe ending? Where's the dream scene?

Upon further reflection, I love how this is not only shot outdoors but against the greenery and the hospital. The trees behind Reid give the scene this Eden-like quality and so the natural way that ESS says the lines just fits even more. The fact that Reid is kissing Luke and telling him ILY out in the open shows that Reid is not scared of being out and proud. Finally, any of Reid's coworkers in the hospital might be watching but he doesn't care. Wonderful wrap-up to a wonderful relationship!

@Brechh I personally though it was a very Reid-like addition and didn't take it badly. He had obviously made a point of never saying that to anyone his entire life and it was almost like he was saying to not just Luke but the universe itself, there, I did it (and it wasn't bad!). He sounds a little shaky when he says that line and I think it communicates his nerves well. Also, he's never been Mr. say all the right things at the right time so it's really in character for me.

@Brechh I truly believe that he did want to say it, that he's been wanting to say it for a long time. And the "there, I said it" was very Reid, like he was finally able to do it, to admit that he really did love Luke and that the world didn't blow up or something when he said it. I think that part was there for himself, not for Luke.

I don't think Reid was scared to say ILY at all but most people wait to confess their love if they fell that quickly cos it can be overwhelming for the new partner, esp if they just finished another relationship. I don't think it was a sad look. It looked like realization to me. Luke realized in this moment that they were in love with each other. I believe it was the moment for him to begin and picture a life together with Reid which, I agree, makes it sadder to watch.

@09parisgirl I agree with you about Luke's look. But I do think Reid was afraid to say it. In the show a day earlier he says something along the lines of how he's just figured out that it's a bad idea to be scared of love and how he has avoided love in the past as a defense mechanism. And Luke asks him to say it out loud and he balks earlier in the day. So here, in this scene, he is finally brave enough to say, likely for the first time in his life (besides saying it to family members perhaps).

@Brechh I think the "there, I said it" was him saying that to himself! Obviously, we find his parents died while he was very young and he was raised by that horrible uncle. Probably never ever said those words, or heard them said to him. It was a self-revelation that he was finally feeling it and able to say it to someone else!

I hate that it's all playing out like this....after waiting all these months for the final episodes no one could have told me or convinced me that they would not have gotten the opportunity to make love. I mean I could even almost bear this if they would have had at least one love making scene to seal the deal. At least that would have been one more dlip for the archives...something to sink our teeths in. but noooooooooo..they just ram the LuRe fanbase up the ass and say addios chumps. The End!

CG, JP, and ATWT sold out its loyal viewers and fans by killing Reid and leaving Luke to a life of perpetual pain, suffering, hurt, and misery. Treating the best characters and the best couple with this horrendous ending is beyond comprehension. While every straight couple gets a happy ending, the gay couple and characters are either killed or left misersble. 100% homophobia and hypocrisy, 0% empathy for faithful fans.

They wanted to cap off Luke's story showing his very hard journey throughout his life has made him a strong person ready to face the world. Their thoughts, not mine. I would have rather him sharing his life with a wonderful man who knew his worth and loved him, flaws and all.

It is clear from some changes made to scenes and spoilers back in the late spring that the storyline was altered considerably. I think you are right - it was going to be a NUKE reunion, but the popularity of ESS (alone and paired with Luke) meant that we got to see him pretty much instead of Noah almost up to the bitter end, and NO ONE had predicted that at all. The fans had a role - and I am proud of that.

CG, JP, and TPTB do not know what loving, caring, and sharing is. They did need to make Luke strong, he already was. What they neede to do was give him the one thing that he was searching for all his life, TRUE LOVE. Luke had found that in Reid, but the bigots took it away ruthlessly.

You're right cause the majority of today's episode was utter crap, but these last few moments were worth it......somehow I felt a bit let down, though....I was hoping for more emotion from Eric and Van, but it was still good though....maybe it was my own mixed up emotions about what was to come....

@ddscurtis See I thought it was perfect, because for one, Reid is not one to get all mushy, he's direct, which he was here, two, he has had this lifelong phobia of love and putting himself in jeopardy, so his nervousness when he says 'there, I said it' is just perfect to me, and three, he and Luke don't know that they aren't going to have any more time together, so this kiss feels as genuine yet every day as one would expect it to be. I burst into tears when I just saw it again now.

God I loved that kiss. And the way he said I love you. And the way he said 'there I said it' sort of nervously because it was a huge thing for Reid to do and to admit to.
I can die happy now in terms of this storyline. I will just try to forget about what comes later and focus on Reid's great character and the brave things he did to get to this place with Luke.

This really is like the story I was told.

And she told me that it was from a friend of hers and her dead boyfriend. She moved in with her boyfriend, and after they had placed everything in the new flat, he went back one last time to check if they had everything. And on his way back he got into an car accident and died.
Back then I thought, how unfair. And now all I can say is: how unfair!
