  • why are all of these videos shit

  • At 0:36 you can actually see that he is using a triact lock carabiner, which is auto-locking, so there is no problem

  • This is one of the better belaying videos on You Tube. This guy does know what he is doing in this limited setting and he is doing it correctly. There are no safety violations, and all of you who say he needs to be tied in don't understand how a pulley works. For all the terrible, unsafe, videos on You Tube why don't you promote the ones that are actually safe and helpful.

  • @2cofitb I noticed one straight off, he hasn't locked off his karb but apart from that no issues.

  • Thumbs up on both hands.Get some professional instruction from some who's been climbing more than 30 years and have them teach you how and why.

  • @lexdunn101 Do you have a cause as to why that is, or do you just want to seem like you know about climbing.

  • he not tied down WTF.wrong wrong wrong.

  • @mofoco1971 you dont need to be tied down... =|

  • As is said in previous comments, this is VERY bad advice. You should never let go of the rope when you belay.

  • I'm confused by your comment. When did he let go of the brake side rope?

  • @byedor he doesnt. probably moving his hands way to quick for people to catch it.

  • @pirlouit00 The method he is using is fine and safe. He has a hand on the rope at all times and can break at all times to.

  • You know he is not even doing it right. You never let go of the brake side of the rope. The left hand should always go about the right so you can slide the hand back down, If you reach below the right hand is off the rope when going back to recovery position. Also never grab both ropes and hold them above the lock posistion. Not always a big deal but I've seen rope burns and long falls before the belayer figured out he had to brake by dropped his back down.

  • @Kelebrinlith Just because its not what you use its not wrong. Its not recommended for beginners.

  • @Kelebrinlith -- he is actually never letting go with his right

  • not the guys fault, he clearly knows what he is doing, but this video is nearly worthless to myself who is trying to get a head start on understanding before learning.

  • SUPP brain fart
