  • You play awesome but I have a major complaint, your rig sucks. You should try a fender super reverb with an Ibanez tube screamer. You can't beat the overdriven yet somehow clean sound you get from that combination.

  • Simply awesome

  • amazing

  • Holy fuck man you rocked the shit outta this SRV cover !! Wow man makes me really wish I learned guitar... Seriously..

  • Holy Hell.

Okay you play my style of music alright. Do you have any advise for an intermediate guitarist, on how to practice, or what to practice? Did you listen to songs and just try and repeat it? Did you learn via tab? Tell me what did you do!?! lol

  • holy crap, wtf, 5 stars

  • wow that was SICK

  • Man this was just AWESOME !!!

  • awesome man, what is the model of the guitar?, are the strings standard caliber?

I have a les paul standard epiphone and i don't think i achieve this sound, hehe

  • very impressive man, you really do have that same tone and feeling as stevie. alot of people try, i think youve got it man..

  • very impressive

  • nice !!!

  • You got that raw Stevie feeling man! Moving on to your own site to check out your own stuff... Keep on rockin!!! :-)

  • my old url (karlbluesDOTcom) is down and out. I've got a new website - url is in the info box for this video. Check it out!

Thanks and have a good on Staffy!

  • awesome!!! YOU SCORE!!!

  • its a little bit too much overdriven... but i think thats just beacause its hard to get stevies thick clean tone...:D

  • holllly crap, i shiting my pants of over here!!! what guitar is that?? pleas answer...

  • Not a lot I can say that hasn't already been said. Fantastic playing man!

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There's not even backing track this would so sick with a full band behind him

  • Steve seem to have found out the way to get back down here... Much respect to your gift, man.

  • @1Wes1 - Seriously.. I know your comment is 1 year old but still this kid kicks ass and I'm not religious but serious SRV has been reborn into this kids fingers !!!!

  • So dreams DO come true...

  • great playing, i LOVE it.. lol! wow.

i wonder, does he have that control b/c of low gauge strings *i.e. 10's* b/c i play 11's on a bad day, and 12's on normal days, and i find it hard to get really smooth fast bends unless i play some other guitar with 10's.. AWESOME.

    rock on!

  • i doubt it, stevie played 13s and look at his control. hes tuned to e flat so there is less tension on the strings so he can get easier bends and control of pitch

  • That was FANTASTIC; Bravo!!!

  • I'd rather find out what kind of guitar and pickups he used. Slow down a little, boy.

  • WOW!!!1 damm that was tight!!!

  • where did you find the sheet music to learn this?

  • DUDE!!! If I could rate this 10 stars I would!!! SRV is looking down smiling giving you 2 thumbs up. What model strat are you using and are you using stock pickups?

  • fantastic

  • WOW!! That's all I have to say!!

  • you play this better than stevie, awesome.

  • UH? No...

This is incredible... but not that incredible.

  • He's not playing original SRV testify. He's added some of his own licks...and its all flawless.

    Drivel is a SRV reincarnation.

  • I do like it, and never meant that to be rude; only responding to what someone else said was perfect, and or flawless. i love it and think it kicks total ass. /bow

  • Sorry MY friend????

  • awesome man whats your rig there??

  • Damn good man. Nice rythym too!

  • Spot on.

  • To quote Albert King: "That boy's' hot as pepper-puddin`!!"

Of course, he was referring to Gary Moore playing a les paul...

Applies here too, you Strat Cat, you! Stevie will be smilin down on you, my friend!!

  • stevie smiles down on everyone, he's just that humble

  • amzing

  • You know, I've seen a lot of SRV replicas in here, but this one takes the cake!! It's like hearing SRV for f... sake!

Man, how I wish I could play like that!

What ever you do, just make sure you don't stop play the guitar! Ok?

  • Wow! How long have you been playing?

  • very very VERY nice playing!

Who needs a drummer or a bass guy when you play the whole band by your self!

  • what did you amp use?maybe hot rod deluxe???

  • DeVille 410

  • ah ok thanks !!very nice playing!!

  • No problemo!

  • Makes me want to run out and re-string the Strat, but that would be pointless cause I can't play like that, and that really sucks. Best cover of Testify on YouTube........

  • Wy haven't I seen you in my country playing? ^^

  • A freakin lot of respect man,

    really awesome

  • Fantastic.

  • good god.... wtf was that about?! You just blew me away man, freaking awesome.

  • WOW, men ... chu sul cul comme qu'on dit en bon francais !! Stevie Would be proud of you, where did u get the tabs ... I need to learn this song right now !!

  • FUCKIN AWESOME

  • GOOD TONE

  • srv would be proud

  • NICE VID! But you know whats hot , webcam gi... YEAH RIGHT! LIKE I WOULD POST THAT WHORE SITE SHIT! GOOD VID MAN!

  • dude.....u fuckin shred!

  • Actually, I gave it further consideration and came up with the idea that any good player, EVH, SRV, Jimi or any of the others play in this in between zone of rhythm and lead without the distinction of being either. It is a seamless transition...Pure Genius from these players!!!

  • Very nice, I love to play and improvise on Testify also. I think people miss out on the fact that Stevie never really played things the exact same way each time. His rhythm skills were his true genius, I think. He loved to dance all around in a song structure, much like you just did. Scalloped fingerboard help? I use one too for SRV stuff, I think if he lived, he may eventually have tried one. They really work good for his overbends.

  • playin it canny outa time

  • [irony] You probably play it a lot better.[/irony]

Stop bashing the guy ... he's probably the best guitarist on whole youtube.

He wrote that he thrown in some other licks, and therefore it's not the original song. IMHO.

  • Wow, very impressive!!! you rule!!!

  • caz veramente bravo !!!!what a feeling!!

  • great job! you really get that fat SRV tone out of that guitar. nice expresion as well with the upper register notes. keep it up bro

  • Wow, you have the sound!!!!!!!!!You must keep it up and post more!!!!!!Thank you.

  • OMG...you're crazy...omg i'm jeluse...i play blues guitar to...but nothing compares to you....YOU RULE!

  • Man, your guitar tone made me full, it's that good.

    Haha, great job.

  • YEAH MAN! YOU ROCK!!

  • yea!!!!what equipment did you use?

  • cabro culiao, great

  • Fuckin sweet man AN u have the SRV tone nailed too! What u goin through for an amp

  • Bad ass man...I like how you ued discression with riffage...not just speeding through everything. you kept it fluid too, no stopping. sweet. nice tone too.

  • you made a great medley of his original and live Testify variations, adding yourself in it.good job man.there's a difference between playing the SRV style and being a SRV-wannabe.you are certainly far away from the second.keep goin'...

  • Im speechless...amazing

  • Genial

  • Fuk me with a light sabre ...first thought was O.K. here's yet another zit faced SRV wannabe trying out one of the greatest rock/blues riffs ever. After watching you burn through it .. I just stared at my big screen laptop and couldn't f*&in move for a few minutes... starting to believe in re-incarnation ...Dope...fly...off the hook ...whatever boppers are saying these days ...it was all that and more...

  • That was just sweet.. I'd kill to be able to pull that off.. Nice work buddy..

  • Dude. A. W. E. S. O. M. E.

    Wow.

  • Please men!!..where did you get the tabs??..or tell me a good tab in the web.please!!!!

  • Really great playing. You definitely have the SRV style down. Someday, when I grow up, I wanna be SRV. Check out my stuff sometime if you get the chance.

  • SRV inspired? That's SRV ripped.

  • Well I didn't want to say that I played mostly SRV licks, plus a Bernard Allison throw-in with a little side of my own influence... So I said, "..SRV inspired..." Sorry I offended you.

  • You didn't offend me. I am the one who should apologize, that was some good fucking playin man.

  • That was great man. Keep up the uploading of those improvs.

  • Karl, awesome playing!

  • Nothing new from SRV, Jimi Hendrix has been there and done that. SRV was just a Jimi Hendrix wannabe. Nothing original about him.

  • Stevie was a musical genius. His big brother introduced him to the guitar and he surpassed him almost immediately. He could hear someone paly a song and immediately play it back without seeing the music. Jimi was great, but your are not comparing apples to apples.

  • At least he didn't wear ridiculous clown makeup and dress in drag to make up for a complete lack of talent like bands like KISS. Jimi had "been there and done that" long before posers like Paul Stanley and the rest of the idiots.

  • I'm gonna find you

  • Nice man! How long are you playing?

  • wauw i just creamed my pants.. that was aseome!

  • The South has risen again!

  • you rock!

  • Great playing, man! You really nail SRVs style instead of just copying him note for note. Gaining the right expression is much harder to do - you made it! wEven the rapid switching of the 5-way switch is done the way SRV did it. 99% of all those SRV desciples ignore this important aspect of nailing the right sound!

  • how long did it take u to learn to play like that?

  • that was incredible

  • Awesome chops... did you learn from tabs or transcribe by ear?

  • Thanks man - I learned this by ear and by watching Stevie.

  • Awesome, as usual. Keep it up man!

I think at some places your timing is a touch off though. Then again, I have no idea what I'm talking about...lol

  • impressionnant....tu sonnes vraiment comme SRV tout en apportant ta touche personnelle...

  • Are you a professional? Nice job!

  • like a mix of SRV and Hendrix, nice!

  • wow

  • great

  • smokin hot!!!

  • muy bien loco

  • I guess the sound comes from texas special PU's

  • smokin dude great job

  • WOW!

  • ouahhhhhhhhhhh

  • You're amazing dude, finally a real guitarist that does a good cover of a song. Keep up the good work dude. I'm also an undergrad in bio, but there's no way I can play that well. I guess playing metal for so long has taken away the blues advantage that I should have gone for. Keep it up dude, you rock! \M/

  • You're good. But I think I already said that somewhere else! ;-) Great job!

  • awesome! what strings do you use?

  • Cheapo strings heh - It's probably a mixture of Ernie's, Bullets, and GHS strings (size: 10-52). I go through a lot of strings, so I don't bother with the expensive strings. Thanks a lot for the comment!

  • oh my gosh. that was AWESOME!

  • This is great!!!

I started to practice the guitar seriously becuase i wanted to play this song. When you have time next time, could you play it in half tempo so that I can see how you play? Thanks!

  • Thanks for the compliment! The thing is, I don't think I'm going to post many more videos cause I'm going back to college soon. But just email me (Drivel101@gmail.com) and I'll be glad to help ya out. There is another version I made of me playing it when I was 15yrs old if you wanna see some different licks you can use for the song.

  • Well Done!

  • sounds'great!what kinds of amp do u use??

    thanks!!

  • Hi - there I was using a Fender Hot Rod Deville

  • Hot Rod DeVille™ 410 ??

  • Yup

  • thanks you'r feedback!! ^^

  • sounds great. how long did it take to get it mastered?

  • Not that long - I think I was about 14 or 15 when I really had the song down (So about 2-3yrs). From there I just learned various versions of the same song. I think the intro lick is from the El Macambo version and some others were borrowed from a Bernard Allison tribute. Thanks for the comment!

  • nice one. i'm 26 and when i grow up i wanna be as good as you!

  • BRILLIANT!

  • Nah - Just play for recreation. I'm just an undergrad bio student =)

  • ....are you a professional guitarist?

  • Jeebus, the awesomeness doesn't end.

  • Wow, that was good. You got his style down pretty good.

  • Thats pretty damn awesome!
