The weird powder/pellets is fertilizer with a little KNO3, when I poured the fertilizer in the hot water, it dissolved and the KNO3 will be on the top-part of the water. Freeze it and then you can see that the KNO3 is on the top. Take the frozen KNO3 and water and put it into a container and let the water disappear.(evaporate)

Wit this method I separate the KNO3 from the fertilizer whit little KNO3.

at slic, sugar isn't really in it, but its a substitute for sulfur if you dont have it. but basically there are 3 types of explosives for all these people asking questions:

One is where normal things that are fuels, like carbon, sugar, starch, etc mixed with oxidizers (compounds that have oxygen in them) that wen both burned, results in the oxidizer providing extra oxygen for the fuel and you get the point.

oda one is chemicals being lets call it (energized) by acids like nitric n sulferic

and the last one is like typical fire burning things that aren't really like bombs, but are just really rich fuels that don't need oxidizers a lot (like a molotov cocktail) However, ANFO is amonium nitrate and fuel oil, uses a strong fuel 97/3 AN to FO (part ratio, but most ratios you'll see will be in mass form!!! VERY IMPORTANT) for gunpowder KNo3/C/S 75/15/10 is in mass guys too, so don't measure by teaspons and stuff. its by grams (use a scale)

after doing this for a couple of years...black powder is without doubt the most inovative powder to get. you can do a lotta stuff with it. Although I its not hard to make HMTD and RMX or possibly even HMX (very unlikely), they are powerfull, but not fun because you cant make rockets outa dem or fuses. stick with fuels and oxidizers guys

It must be frozen, because kno3 becomes solid when cold, it is just to separate it from the rest of the chemicals so it is as pure as possible

Yes you can!! This video is not face!

The KNO3 in the fertilizer, dissolve in the water and the solution of KNO3 will float on the top. You freeze it so you can easily remove the KNO3-part.

Melt the KNO3-ice, and let the KNO3 crystallize. Then you have pure KNO3!

but you can go to a gardening store or mabey even homedepo and buy stump remover or strawberrie fertliser wich basically the same thing

dude... it IS the same thing, and you CAN buy it. just cause its used in gunpowder doesnt make that the ONLY application for it, you cant get rid of a substance that has numerous applications just because of one of them when they are mostly very useful/necessary (drugs excluded in this) and you can also get pure kno3 from pharmacy's altho it is harder to get from there if ur under 18, not cause its illegal but just cause its like lighters... store keepers might know other things its used 4...

I was wrong about 1 thing, the KNO3 actually REQUIRES melting. So you can't skip the melting step. But the crystalization depends on the fertilizer.

He just used fertilizer with 11 % nitrogen, 5 % phosphorus and 18% potassium/kalium, many other fertilizers with good kalium/nitrogen values work good as well. He put boiling water over it, let it settle for hours, then froze it and scraped off the crystals that formed during the freezing. The crystals are the kno3. Then he caramelized sugar and mixed it with the kno3 to make a smoke bomb.

He didn't use a very good fertilizer for mixing pure, so he had to extract the kalium. But if you want to mix it unmelted, you need appropriate fertilizer. Approximately 13% nitrogen, 0% phosphorus and 38% Kalium/Potassium would mix well without crystalization.

If you melt it with the sugar it will be a more concentrated mixture resulting in more smoke

I bet you can but I guess you will need to compensate for the lack of potassium, with lo-salt (where sodium is replaced with potassium). Note: I only have experience with my local fertilizer mix (dutch kalk amon salpeter, as demonstrated in a dutch video here). When draining the water from the sediment you can mix the (right amount) salt. When freezing the crystals will form.

Her in norway we call it "Fullgjødsel" I have a "fullgjødsel" type "11 - 5 18"

11 % nitrogen, 5 % phosphorus and 18% potassium.

Direct translation of "fullgjødsel" is Complete fertilizer.

buy some fertelizer then mix it with hot water then filter the water so the pebbles stay behind and put the water in the fridge at 10ºC until u see cristals forming then filter it agian so the cristals stay behind those cristals are KNO3 of the highest purity! Im from portugal
