@emilie5994 Nah I just simply dropped my string to A. It is really unstable when it's so low in tune. So when I do a gig, I ususally put a heavier gauge on just the E string.

@lucaanthotinni You can strike your pick fast behind the nut of your guitar (up the top of your guitar, in between the fret board and the tuning pegs). some guitars will get a cool noise by doing it, some won't. Mine isn't loud and you can't really hear a good squeal through an amp, even with distortion. :(

@yjohn34 I've played this song doing exactly the same thing as he's doing here, tuning the E string down to an A, and trust me, it will never sound perfectly in tune. When the string's that loose, the pitch will go all over the place just because it's moving around so much. Usually the force you hit the string at when tuning is different to when you're playing so even if the tuner says it's right it will sound a bit off in the song. That's just the cost of doing it this way instead of a 7 string

Citizen Erased is one of those "unpopular" songs that became some of my favorite, like Small Print. Even the solo that you don't know it 100% was so cool, nicely done. I mean I can't play. @leopaularmand Matt does use a 7 sting when doing live. But Matt used 6 string when recording the album :D For this song, I just use my VOX Tonelab ST for the distortion and the clean tone,, ans also my Danelectro Fish and Chips Equalizer for massive sustain lol.

I think he left the bottom strign a bit flat on purpose so that the string didnt go ridiculously sharp when he fretted it - that happens when you drop tune a string that much.
