And The Flaming Lips are not one hits wonders. And they're obviously profitable and respected if they've been signed to major labels for 20 years now.

And Mary Margaret O'Hara is super humanly good, same with Jimmy Scott, and Rheostatics. The world can't let all the cream rise to the surface right away.

And plus, fact is, its a heckload of pressure. And I'm sure there's something really empty about being stuck on billboards, being a thought police kinda figurehead, feeling like you're being used by some business to keep some state of mind disproportionately powerful amongst the population.

and there's grabbing the listeners attention, and having to make them stupid to grab their attention.

This whole 'America's Got Talent' and 'Idol' world still makes a lot of people think all musicians want is fame. But its not the case. Ask Ron Sexsmith, who megastar Paul McCartney loves... and Ron has barely made any money, but released 10 albums and has a very enthusiastic following. It takes time, but people can do things strictly for the art of it, and have consciences, n get all the critics on their side. Its a bizarre world being a superstar: Sting said he was least happy with the Police.

The piano teacher is not performing and putting all of his effort into entertaining the masses. plus everyone is trying to be someone in this world. you need to think of it as entertaining people with your talents than being used by a corporation.

Yes, the piano teacher is not trying to entertain the masses, thats my point; but piano teachers can still be happy with their jobs. Any successful musician will tell you its a music business; you do it to entertain, yes, but its a constant give and take with those who give you the opportunity to entertain.

But thats not the point; all I was trying to say is that every musicians goal isn't perse to entertain everyone they possibly can, because something gets lost in that process.
