the Wings were by far the worst franchise for 42 years until they won the cup in the '96-'97 season. since then they have won a total of 4 cups in ~14 years. i'd say that they made a pretty amazing come-back from what used to be considered a lost cause.
i love watching hockey. The Wings are my home team and i'll root for them even if they fall into another slump like they had in the past.

Big market teams were dominant for years while others sucked for years. The Wings happened to be on the positive side of an unbalanced system. You should be so proud.
Here's another fact: Most of Detroit's roster and star players were very late and last picks of the draft, so Detroit didn't rely on money to create their team. They kept up with what they drafted, even when they were all late/last draft picks.
Also, you see Detroit struggling now because they refuse to trade young players/spend all their cap money (what's left of it) on more experienced players because they build depth to their team.

I understand that losing the cup is devistating. I like the penguins, and i went through the devistation last year. I hated the wings ever since, but watching the game made me realize the wings aren't such a bad team. Detroit fans should be thankful that they won in 2008.

Here's another fact: Most of Detroit's roster and star players were very late and last picks of the draft, so Detroit didn't rely on money to create their team. They kept up with what they drafted, even when they were all late/last draft picks.
Also, you see Detroit struggling now because they refuse to trade young players/spend all their cap money (what's left of it) on more experienced players because they build depth to their team.

lol, despite every comment by these pens fans saying the Wings "suck" I still show respect for the pens after there win. No team sucks if they won the cup. No luck involved. They beat a tired and injured team and outplayed them (except games 1,2 and 5) Congrats pens I hope for a good rematch next year. And if u diss this comment... Wow no class whatsoever

You're going to have that everywhere. Even rooting for the Pens I had to sit on the edge of my seat because they were playing the Wings. A team that sucks doesn't draw that much suspense from a fan, the Wings are a great team and I'm proud to say the Pens beat them. Hats off to a great series.

Not all Pens fans are like that. I think Detroit is a great team.......Whoever says they suck is an obvious idiot. I'm from Pittsburgh and I root for Pittsburgh but I admit.......these are both top 5 teams and people can't deny it.
