@missemify Hmmm I was thinking about my best friend who recently got married... for a while I felt that her husband = the makeup in the mvovie, and I was the one tossed under the bed (although it felt like a truck)
This is the point in the movie where I would always fast-forward the VCR because it was boring. Now when watching the movie, I understand the drama of it. :( Miss the old days when it was just boring, not sad.
I downloaded this song, and listened to it on my way to university.... I was crying my eyes out-good thing it was raining cats and dogs... i didn't look as crazy as i feared in the middle of the street :)
Excuse me for a moment, I have a bunch of toys that I need to appologise to for ignoring them since my childhood and just deserting in the top of my wardrobe...
This is the point in the movie when everyone paused, wiped the tears from their eyes, searched for their old toys, and hugged them till the end of time.
I'm 18 years old and sobbing just as hard as I did the first time I saw this. I still have my Jesse doll that I've had since 99 and I'm bringing her with me to college. I won't abandon her. <3
i really cried in this song...i just copied the movie from our cd so that the time when i want to cry, that music should be played, whatever the reason of crying just listen, AND START CRYING...:-(
People say that Randy Newman writes the same song basically every time. Not this one. There is a full, profound sadness to this song. It often reminds me of when I was young, and how I had toys but never played with them. And they just sat there, forgotten and collecting dust, like every neglect may touch.
I bet I'm the only one who was brought here by Minecraft... I have no idea why I needed to hear this song. I just did. And it really helped. It filled the hole dug out by Minecraft... This is truly a beautiful song, now that I'm older, it makes me all teary eyed.
everytime i hear this i cry remembering when i was younger and saw this movie when it first came out and remembering my very first toys....bleh :/ time flies...
This makes me think of me and my friend Jessica. When we were little we were two peas in a pod but then the teen years came and she started to drift away from me. She sold all of her toys and she stopped playing Peter Pan with me. She's turning 15 this year and I'm turning 14. I still do the stuff we did when we were little but she has stopped. She stopped so she could be popular and so she could hang with the popular girls. And now I'm shunned by her and the other girls. In
When I was little I always had my mom skip this part because it was so depressing :'( but now it makes me cry because i miss when i was this little :''''''(
This song has less to do with toys and more to do with growing up...and away. It's something all parents go through. Your little ones follow your every step and you are their world. They ask for nothing more than to love and be loved. But over time, they drift away. Yes, it's a part of growing up. But it's sad that those days can never be recaptured. The love is still there. But not so much that simple innocence. All you can do is watch them drive off and you're left with only the memories.
@MrHeatherway This is EXACTLY what i thought. I saw this 12 years ago and the song was sad, but it's profoundly more moving now that we have kids. Now I hear Jessie singing the song as a parent, her child having grown up in what felt like the blink of an eye. From a parent's perspective, remembering how much you meant to your kids and how happy they made you, a line like "and when she was sad, I was there to dry her tears, and when she was happy, so was I" is just devastating.
This made me cry so hard.. T^T I miss my childhood days.. when toys were your best friends. Now they just sit in a box, collecting dust :\ It sounds silly to think those toys are crying for those childhood days to come back, but you never know..
I really regret the fact that when I moved up to high school I left all my primary school friends behind and now they hate me because I never talked to them... And what makes things worse is that I can see her house from where I live So I always will remember her and this song makes me cry loads :'(
I'm 19 years old and do you know something? Whilst my Brother and Sister, (both younger than me) and all my old friends and got 'too old' to play with their childhood toys, I didn't. I still have my old toys that I still play with and love, because I'm too nostalgic to throw them out. So my message to everyone is this: You're not too old to play with toys. Show them some respect and keep them with you, you never know when they'll be needed for some comfort. :)
@TheTsugnawmi2010 well first off i didnt cry during this scene, atleast i cant remember, also i didnt cry while watching this, 2nd i dont believe in souls so smd
Attention people, it does say 'donations' on the box/es, i also doubt that someone would leave a box of cowgirl crap in a box in the middle of no where xD She's obviously going to a new home, just saying
I still have my teaddybear, i will never throw it away.....soo when i join the army....the have no choice, they will have to let me take it with me. :) ;)
@Viking86Warlord so do I . . . I've had mine since the day I was born almost 23 years ago. But I'm not joining the army. He is safely tucked away in a special tote box in my room with all my old stuffed friends. lol.
i remember going on an airplane with my jesse doll and i put her underneath my seat belt like in the movie. the flight attendent told me she couldnt sit with me, i told her she had no soul.
@KeiThreads how is she cold? the girl grew up, at least she didnt destroy or just throw the doll away, she donated it so it could go to some other kid
Whenever my mom asks me if there are any toys I want to get rid of, or we go through my stuffed animal bin and she tells me that I should get rid of this ratty old horse animal doll, I tell her no because I get this guilty feeling in the pit of my stomach, and plus, I think I would cry if I got rid of any of them. I'm 14 and I absolutely love all of my old toys and stuffed animals :P

Im 16 and the toy story movies are still by far my most favourite. This scene always makes me so sad, it gives you something to think about to how we treat our things. Disney did a great job ^.^
i always think of my mother, after she abondonded my father and i for drugs. But i still want to love my mother and i want to believe she love me too. Here's to you...mother :(
i still don't get why u would put ur old toys in a box and leave them in a far off place where no one could ever find and drive off it sounds a little cruel
@singingtheawesomenes DONATIONS. Can you not read? Do you not see the truck behind the box? Emily is donating Jessie, not leaving her somewjhere where no one will find her.
Thumbs up with you always cry with this song ♥ so beautiful, yet so sad.

i still don't get why u would put ur old toys in a box and leave them in a far off place where no one could ever find and drive off it sounds a little cruel
