...that might be the most polite way I've ever heard anyone say "faggot" hahahahahahaha.
For those who dont know, In England, a Fag is a cigarette, and a Faggot is....(lets simplify this)... a pork meatball. But in North America, both fag, and faggot mean 'Homosexual'.
OK, so now I know about Fish and Chips. Looks great! Anyway, I'm planning a trip to the U.K. next year from the U.S. Any suggestions on the best "Chippy" I should visit n the London area? Thanks!
Was going to give a list but it is best that you just Google it your self as you know where you going to be staying. You can also ask a cab driver when you get here. Don't too much notice of this dull ass drip on the video (MUSTARD???? MASH POTATO????) and the best fish to go for is Haddock IMO (was not on here but is moist creamy and has big easy to eat flakes yum) and you must try fish and chips with salt and vinegar, anyway hope you have a good time when you get here byeeee. :o)
That's true isn't it...Brit's have the highest obesity and heart attack levels in the world, compared to Americans who have a McDonalds every few buildings, and do lots of exercise, keeping them all fit....
Wrong, that is an Americanism you are refering too, just because it is American that does NOT make it correct English, there is ONLY English, it's like saying Scottish English and English, English, it is incorrect.
A google search for "British English" finds 3 million webpages. There is a a whole wiki page on "British English"
Many people use the term when comparing American English with English used in Britain. I dont see why you have a big problem with the term, its very commonly used.
Ofcourse we dont go around saying we talk British English. But internationally people know there are different version of the English language. Thats why people use "British English" to describe the language we use here and "American English" Canadian English etc.. I really dont see the problem.
The part where he says British English he is reminding our american friends what we mean by CHIPS.. This is clearly to help international viewers. Its not like hes just talking to English people
Its described as "British English" by plenty of British people ive used the term many times myself in fights with Americans.
We have a language spoken around the world which has some very different uses and spellings of words. In America when they talk between themselves they just say "English" just as we do here in the UK.
But this is an international site and has viewers from all over the world. As such people say American English / British English to compare the two.
i am British. I would just like to say that it is not us as a nations fault that this women sounds so patronizing and annoying. Not all British people are this annoying please do not be put off
well wnrdawwgg, us scots perfected the art of deep frying, its a national pastime for us, and this dullness is for people who are one pork pie short of a picnic lol
This is very funny, it's rather Monty Pythonesque. But really, some schoolboy errors. I mean, Mustard?? and Skate?? and not to mention MASHED POTATO??? These things are never found in a chip shop. Please take what you find on the internet with a pinch of salt (and a splash of non-brewed condiment).
you forgot to include haddock as one of the most common fish, which is second only to cod. plaice and skate is less common and not exactly ideal for deep frying.
Some people do add bicarb to the dried green peas when soaking them overnight it does help to soften them but it also destroys any nutritional value. It is better to cook them slowly for longer.
that fritter at the end looks like one of my dogs turds!

A few extras for scotland.
Haddock is the normal fish used.
And when you get fish with chips its called a fish supper (also applies to anything else eg. sausage/black pudding supper).

British English is a correct term used to describe English used in Britain compared to English in the United States and other parts of the world.
Look it up.

Here in the south (USA) I would use whiting, or cod. What is the American equivalent of plaice and skate, please? Learned 2 new fish. Great video.

mushy peas are in fact dried peas, soaked overnight then gently cooked in water. A bit like lentils.
Veganblackpud 4 years ago
Nah, mushy peas as served in a chippy are your standard green peas with bicarb of soda added to soften them, then overcooked

The foods looked delicious all, but they are enemies of the health and diet.
