i cannot understand how the wrestler isn't a lock for a best picture nomination, it was hands down the best movie i saw all year. hopefully the wrestler and the dark knight will both slip into contention
If it gets the academy award nomination (likely) and wins best picture (unlikely)...then i wouldn't be suprised to see Dev Patel pip Heath Ledger for Supporting Actor. The academy usually awards both hand in hand.
I loved the Dark Night, and if it won that would be awesome, but i have my doubts that it would be. For Best Picture anyway, thought i am almost postitive that it will be at least nominated in some other categories, like best actor or set or SOMETHING. But i really dont think that it would win best picture, though im just trying to be realistic.
Australia is out. The Reader is out. Doubt is unlikely. Revolutionary Road is unlikely.
Slumdog Millionaire & The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are locks. Milk is almost a lock. The last 2 places are between The Dark Knight, Frost/Nixon, & The Wrestler.
and just one more thing laker90. u are soo fuckin stupid. your a poser who is pretending be smart and predict movies like revo road or frost nixon to win.
first of all you don't have to go negative on laker90 everyone is entitled to their opinion and just because you disagree doesn't mean you have to go their level and name call like laker90 did why not be the mature one and just disagree and give a reason why not calling them fucking stupid
laker90 ur a sad piece of shit. learn something about movies? like your father told u when u were a kid, you are indeed stupid. so so stupid. heath ledger doesnt deserve to win? are u that stupid? like we the unique haunting performance of the joker every month. yeha yeah it doesnt deserve to win. fuckin moron
i bet that ur dad called u stupid so many times when u were a kid that u actually thought it was ur real name
Look. The Dark Knight will not win Best Picture. It will not even be nominated. Give up hope. Learn something about movies. It was a cool movie, but that doesn't mean it deserves to win. Stop sucking Heath Ledger's dick. Heath Ledger does not deserve to win though he probably will because he died.
No he will win despite he died. Nobody has ever won a posthumous Oscar except for Peter Finch. And he died after votes were in so that one doesnt count. James Dean lost twice because he died. If Ledger was alive, his chances would have been even bigger(if thats possible).
DARK KNIGHT DESERVES TO WIN. i understand that the oscars are very traditional. but ppl forget that comics is an american tradition dating back to 1939 when batman debuted.
everyone has to admit that nobody expected the dark knight to turn out the way it did. it is a true masterpiece especially for a movie rated pg-13.
in the current economic trouble we are in. the world needs a hero at the oscar podium.
u see this fan made videos are a joke. just cuz u think u predict traditional oscar movies like australia or revolutionary roads it makes u looks like some genious. but ur not. the truth is u ppl are so so so so STUPID. very fuckin STUPID.
oh wow revolutionary roads and australia... like there isnt 20 god damn same movie like that in the past. same old shit.
it is december now and we now know that AUSTRAILIA is not a good choice, change the RR to slumdog millionaire and AUSTRAILIA with DARK KNIGHT. that is a better choice, if the academy STILL doesn't like the comic book movies, maybe CHALLENGING will be on the list.
I want the dark knight to get a nod too. Personally I believe it's in the academy's best interest to nominate a movie that a lot of people have seen. Maybe it will boost the ratings for the show this year, given that the last couple of years they have been god awful. But, realistically the Academy looks down on blockbuster movies like the dark knight. I think it has a chance to win a few big ones best supporting, screenplay, and directing. Not best picture unfortunately
have you even SEEN the trailer? this is going to be the movie that gets lots of technical awards - and with so many wins, it is almost guaranteed best picture. besides, david fincher is LONG overdue for his movies with brad pitt-rite?
(even though i am SURE milk and slumdog millionaire will wiggle their way in and probably knock out doubt and australia - which makes me want to KILL myself!!!!)
the best movie will be Terminator Salvation

You must have a thing about 'Australia'. Even Nicole Kidman herself was disappointed with the film. :)

after seeing those golden globes and broadcast film critic winners do you still think Slumdog is unlikely to win?

i think it will ultimately get the top 2 nominations (director/ picture) just because the academy would be SO foolish not to!
i also think that if they didn't, heath ledger's nomination alone would be enough to boost the ratings
