Airsoft is a sport in which you simulate military tactics and team coordination to fight against an opposition. This sport cannot exist if we were forced to use real guns due to the above reason. More authentic guns are important mainly for price, maintenance, quality, part compatibility, etc.
@r315r4z0r what i meant by shooting a real gun is shooting a real gun in a firing range or hunting for animals. I know what it is like to play airsoft and it does not matter if you and the gun werent camoflouged. Airsoft guns only go 200 feet at most. I am pretty sure millions of AMERICAN people dont have airsoft related jobs considering that there are 300 million people in the U.S, 10% that which are unemployed and there are plenty of other jobs out there that have nothing to do with airsoft
@canookify You're missing the point. If the guns are forced to be clear then that means they are forced to be made of plastic. It isn't what the gun looks like that is the concern, it's the quality of the parts used. Playing airsoft isn't necessarily very expensive, but buying a quality gun does come with a price tag. However, if the parts are forced into being made with cheap clear plastic, the guns will break often and end up costing players more money in the long run.
@r315r4z0r I have a plastic gun and it hasn't broken yet. it is also 3 years old. The casing might be plastic but the parts inside are metal. the outside does not matter at all but the small components inside do matter. And how would a plastic gun break? Unless you drop from high places but thats it. shooting the gun wont do anything either cuz I have shot it before. It was hit by my gas gun which has 510-450 fps.

I think this is not fair. We have fun with the sport while some of the other people out there are ruining it for us. This bill will NOT make all airsoft guns have to be painted. It will just make it so airsoft guns that are not painted will have a fine added to them, unless they are going to be used in a few specific things (See: California Penal Code Section 20165)
@jjeokam Sure, guns will be more expensive, but its not like everyone will have to use colored guns. Plus there's obvious loopholes to evade the fine.
If they pass the bill to make everyone paint airsoft guns bright colors, who's to say some psycho wouldn't paint a real gun those colors? Then the cops will say "Oh that's just airsoft no need to worry" and then boom, that cops dead, however if the bill does not pass, cops will take proper precautions to prevent any injury/death, if the person with the airsoft gun complies with the officer. It would also keep realism in the game of airsoft, I've done my part, printed the petition and had adults

While I understand what state officials are trying to accomplish with this bill. I truly think they're going about it the absolutely WRONG way. What makes them think that requiring AS rifles be made with bright colors to distinguish them from hot weapons would work? Why not just require limit usage to just licensed airsoft fields? That way honest airsofters can still have fun, without a small handful of idiots ruining it. Players want military/paramilitary realism, that's why they play!

I went to ASGI's website to try to e-mail a senator or any representative. One problem that i had with this was that I had trouble writing a proper e-mail that will catch their attention. To encourage others to email goverment officials, a pre-made letter should be made so that people wont get discouraged to write or email to officials. Thumbs up so ASGI can see!!!

All they had on their site was a fill out form of your name and email. once you gave those two information, they sent a pre-made letter to officials to help fight the bill...because of how easy it was to send the email, alot of people participated and spread the word quickly. Their voices were heard and the bill was delayed this winter.

Sorry Jonathan Eckley, this bill isn't going to effect anybody outside the United States. Across the pond nobody buys their guns from California. And if they do, they'll just buy from Asia instead.

This bill, even if passed, will be struck down in federal court. The federal statue that mandates the orange barrel tip has a supremacy clause that overrides all state-mandated labels and colorings. That said, even though I live in Michigan, I wrote the CA Senate Appropriations Committee (where the bill currently is, according to the last thing I read) an email regarding the bill.

@MrAirsoftnoob Once we are UKARA registered though we can have replicas so no need for a "two tone" once you have a UKARA membership. This bill does not allow for anything like UKARA and we did fight for it, its the only reason we still have Airsoft is because we let our selves be heard.

The whole point of airsoft is it is meant to look real. If this law is passed then what is the point. This country does have allot of dumbass people and they are going to get their hands on these and shoot people and destroy property. They are ruining the sport for the rest of america. I think this is not fair. We have fun with the sport while some of the other people out there are ruining it for us. I think people that abuse the sport and/or the guns should be punished not the whole sport. I personally am a big air softing fan and have been doing it a long time. If this bill passes i will not longer be continuing the sport of AirSofting. The goverment in my opinion is ruining alot of the stuff now a days...

This bill will NOT make all airsoft guns have to be painted. It will just make it so airsoft guns that are not painted will have a fine added to them, unless they are going to be used in a few specific things (See: California Penal Code Section 20165)

If they pass the bill to make everyone paint airsoft guns bright colors, who's to say some psycho wouldn't paint a real gun those colors? Then the cops will say "Oh that's just airsoft no need to worry" and then boom, that cops dead, however if the bill does not pass, cops will take proper precautions to prevent any injury/death, if the person with the airsoft gun complies with the officer. It would also keep realism in the game of airsoft, I've done my part, printed the petition and had adults

While I understand what state officials are trying to accomplish with this bill. I truly think they're going about it the absolutely WRONG way. What makes them think that requiring AS rifles be made with bright colors to distinguish them from hot weapons would work? Why not just require limit usage to just licensed airsoft fields? That way honest airsofters can still have fun, without a small handful of idiots ruining it. Players want military/paramilitary realism, that's why they play!

Get 10% of the guns entire external painted in bright colors is ok. (like the magazines, buttstock, a part of the external barrel, the scope etc)

I went to ASGI's website to try to e-mail a senator or any representative. One problem that i had with this was that I had trouble writing a proper e-mail that will catch their attention. To encourage others to email goverment officials, a pre-made letter should be made so that people wont get discouraged to write or email to officials. Thumbs up so ASGI can see!!!

It doesn't have to be literature, just something that says you're against the bill. @westpsmity ...have you ever heard of Demand Progress? They are a powerful organization that contributed to things like going against the COICA Censorship Bill. All they had on their site was a fill out form of your name and email. once you gave those two information, they sent a pre-made letter to officials to help fight the bill...because of how easy it was to send the email, alot of people participated and spread the word quickly. Their voices were heard and the bill was delayed this winter.

There are so many problems with this bill, it had better not pass. I ca not believe that a potential legal document references Wikipedia as a source of legal guidance.
Aside from this nonsense, it does not take into account what would happen if 'imitation' firearms were so colored. Police would STILL be unable to take a chance with a bright pink imitation firearm and the same outcomes would result.

This bill, even if passed, will be struck down in federal court. The federal statue that mandates the orange barrel tip has a supremacy clause that overrides all state-mandated labels and colorings. That said, even though I live in Michigan, I wrote the CA Senate Appropriations Committee (where the bill currently is, according to the last thing I read) an email regarding the bill.
