I'm sorry but suhr are fender strat copy and not real that superior evolution guitar is the same only more expensive. That guitar sound like a fender strat..
Love the tone and overall sound of your guitar! I hope to aquire one just like yours soon. I hope you kinda disregard these comments about "just a strat copy". I know better, and so do you!
I just got a used S2 and am BLOWN AWAY at how good it sounds, this ain't no Custom Shop Strat where you have to try hard to get one that sounds good off the shelf
Absolutely great sound. I have a Suhr Pro S-2 and it is the easiest playing, greatest sounding guitar I have ever played, certainly better than any Fender. You have such a great touch and really know how to exploit your guitar amp combination. Thanks for the clip. For those of you out there shopping, a Pro series Suhr is way cheaper than a custom shop Strat.
Awesome video Robert, just one thing, for the price of a suhr (quite alot) you might aswell buy a deluxe or custom shop strat, theyre the real deal after all, im not disputing that Suhr makes great guitars but its just a strat copy really??
@joelbyrne haha, strat copy! LOL! Sure, it is a strat copy, but waaaaay better than most Fender strats I have ever played. John Suhr was after all a Master Builder at Fender for years... so he knows how to build good strat "copies". :)
@rotren Dont get me wrong my friend, its a beautiful guitar but if i was to get a Suhr i would probably get the Custom Std that doesnt look so "stratty" plus it has the fletcher landau p.ups too, and yes John sure does know how to make a nice Axe but the ones that look like fenders just seem to be unimaginative. Have you seen the Custom? Its beautiful! Great playing by the way Love your tone!
@rotren Tom Andersons and Suhrs are not Strat copies...They are the Superior Evolution of the Fender Strat, which a stock Strat will never be...don't get me wrong I love the Fender Strat but it can't touch any of these instruments.
@rotren Yessir, I have an 02 Tiger Burst Anderson Hollow Drop Top Anderson SSH with Switcheroo Maple/Alder with Indian Rosewood Board and Feiten....I choose it over the Strat every time. lol
@joelbyrne i bought a custom shop strat a few years ago.had only played ibanez GB10, AS200 and les pauls before, i figured i just had to get used to the strat and get it set up.so after playing for a month or so trying to find out i wanted fixed up i took it to my guitar guy, even as i was handing it to him he commented on how the neck was "f#$%ed" he said "take it back and get them to replace the neck"
fender wouldnt change it, and it took forever to get it back. wish i knew about suhr then.
@jhol2457 That is very unfortunate and quite shocking considering the custom shop select only the finest woods for their guitars and for it to need replacing must of meant it was really bad or your guitar tech just wasnt able to fix it. Was it exposed to any moisture or rapid temerature change?
As stated, John Suhr worked at Fender - he just knows how to make a better strat - these are better than just copies - its in the details man in the details :-)
@starassist1977 I can assure you that I am not a uneducated viewer if you look at my other comments on this guitar video, it seems you didnt do your own reasearch on my "opinion" before you replied with a flippant childish comment. Im fully aware of John Suhr's time served at Fender and am also aware of his quality of guitars, I was merely making an observation that these guitars arent a million miles away from a Fender Custom Shop strat, yet theyre priced so much higher. Thankyou

Rob, love your videos as I'm both making a vintage style strat *and* building a custom vintage style amp out of NOS components. Hearing you play all this gear is very useful to me and has helped my decision making process a lot. Keep playing, you're inspiring! :o)
Ah....here's my ole YouTube buddy Rob, and i'll tell you, that Suhr just absolutely sounds wonderful. I'd LUV to have a Suhr, but i value my life too much, as my wife would castrate me if i came home with one. I'm esp. impressed with how the bridge pup sounds....i really never play there as the sound is just too flat, but your sound is chimey. How's that? Also, to what extent would attribute your nice sound to your amp/cab, and what % to the Suhr? Talk to you soon, Andrew B.
I agree. I just picked up a 2004 Shr Classic for $1400 and it blows away all my Fender guitars (except the John Mayer signature). I've actually sold the lot off (7 guitars in all) to fund a new Suhr guitar and Badger combo! ;)

The guitar doesn't have the Silent Single Coil system : why ? Does that change the sound or is it really too expensive ? Are these the 60's Suhr pickups ?
Thanks.
jp6l6 2 years ago
The SSC was not invented in 2004, I don't think. It does not change the sound, what is does is take away the 60 cycle hum. These are V60LP pickups.
rotren 2 years ago
P.S. The EL84 being a pentode has a darker sound that the beam tetrode 6L6. Interesting to hear.
3Deity 2 years ago
Is it an opinion or are you sure of it ?
jp6l6 2 years ago
Marshall = Dark - 'British Sound' EL34
Fender = Bright - 'American Sound' 6L6
If you compare the Audio Note Oto and Soro integrated amps they also exhibit these properties and are EL84 and 5881 respectively.
I'm still waiting for the DA250 or 212 guitar amp, though the latter do emit x-rays.
3Deity 2 years ago
I'm estonished because little Fender amps as the Blues Junior and others do use EL84 tubes
jp6l6 2 years ago
Err, piddling little practice amps. Still, you spelt astonished wrong, maybe I should pick up on that?
