  • Wow, great sound and playing. Now I really gotta get me an 18 watt amp, maybe a Mack Heatseeker :)

  • man, that's awesome... these pickups have a deep low end, very charming

  • I'm sorry but suhr are fender strat copy and not real that superior evolution guitar is the same only more expensive. That guitar sound like a fender strat..

  • YES! Classic Killer Clean. I love it. I could listen to this all day. Nice playing. Thumbs WAY up!! : )

  • EL84 do a great job here :) great playing too!

  • Most excellent playing!

  • I think you missed the "B" note in the middle

  • Testify ! :)

  • Hey Suhr single coils you have in that Stratocater did they are the V60LP's???

  • merci pour vos video ! et wooo que j'adore et rève de cette guitar !

mais ca sera quand je pourrai me la payer ! lol

    merci encore

    musicalement

    olive

  • Love the tone and overall sound of your guitar! I hope to aquire one just like yours soon. I hope you kinda disregard these comments about "just a strat copy". I know better, and so do you!

  • i reckon most guitars come to life in your hands, damn soulful playin

  • I just got a used S2 and am BLOWN AWAY at how good it sounds, this ain't no Custom Shop Strat where you have to try hard to get one that sounds good off the shelf

  • Just a copy. Hahahahahaha John Suhr copied himself?

  • That is one sweet sounding tone you have going there!

  • If you think the suhr guitars are good try pluggin in to a suhr amp.Thats a match made in heaven.

  • Very good!Thanks!

  • Absolutely great sound. I have a Suhr Pro S-2 and it is the easiest playing, greatest sounding guitar I have ever played, certainly better than any Fender. You have such a great touch and really know how to exploit your guitar amp combination. Thanks for the clip. For those of you out there shopping, a Pro series Suhr is way cheaper than a custom shop Strat.

  • Awesome video Robert, just one thing, for the price of a suhr (quite alot) you might aswell buy a deluxe or custom shop strat, theyre the real deal after all, im not disputing that Suhr makes great guitars but its just a strat copy really??

  • @joelbyrne haha, strat copy! LOL! Sure, it is a strat copy, but waaaaay better than most Fender strats I have ever played. John Suhr was after all a Master Builder at Fender for years... so he knows how to build good strat "copies". :)

  • @rotren Dont get me wrong my friend, its a beautiful guitar but if i was to get a Suhr i would probably get the Custom Std that doesnt look so "stratty" plus it has the fletcher landau p.ups too, and yes John sure does know how to make a nice Axe but the ones that look like fenders just seem to be unimaginative. Have you seen the Custom? Its beautiful! Great playing by the way Love your tone!

  • @rotren Tom Andersons and Suhrs are not Strat copies...They are the Superior Evolution of the Fender Strat, which a stock Strat will never be...don't get me wrong I love the Fender Strat but it can't touch any of these instruments.

  • @supermanjamil1992 I agree completely! :)

  • @rotren Yessir, I have an 02 Tiger Burst Anderson Hollow Drop Top Anderson SSH with Switcheroo Maple/Alder with Indian Rosewood Board and Feiten....I choose it over the Strat every time. lol

  • @joelbyrne i bought a custom shop strat a few years ago.had only played ibanez GB10, AS200 and les pauls before, i figured i just had to get used to the strat and get it set up.so after playing for a month or so trying to find out i wanted fixed up i took it to my guitar guy, even as i was handing it to him he commented on how the neck was "f#$%ed" he said "take it back and get them to replace the neck"

fender wouldnt change it, and it took forever to get it back. wish i knew about suhr then.

  • @jhol2457 That is very unfortunate and quite shocking considering the custom shop select only the finest woods for their guitars and for it to need replacing must of meant it was really bad or your guitar tech just wasnt able to fix it. Was it exposed to any moisture or rapid temerature change?

  • @joelbyrne

As stated, John Suhr worked at Fender - he just knows how to make a better strat - these are better than just copies - its in the details man in the details :-)

  • @joelbyrne you obv have no idea what you're saying...do some research

  • @starassist1977 I can assure you that I am not a uneducated viewer if you look at my other comments on this guitar video, it seems you didnt do your own reasearch on my "opinion" before you replied with a flippant childish comment. Im fully aware of John Suhr's time served at Fender and am also aware of his quality of guitars, I was merely making an observation that these guitars arent a million miles away from a Fender Custom Shop strat, yet theyre priced so much higher. Thankyou

  • so you want us to hear your amazing guitar tone but you are running it thru a dist & delay?

    come on man!

that being said, that is indeed a great tone.

  • 0:24 (-:

And you are an amazing guitarist !

  • That sounds beautiful man! Keep it up!

  • Really dig your playing man!

    Great tones!

  • what suhr pickups are in there or the pickups specific to that guitar.

  • great guitars but so expensive .

  • yeah!

  • Good Chops, Sweet Tone, Fine Axe.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • which one do you prefer? strat or suhr?

  • Strat is a body style, you probably meant "fender"

  • yap,

    I meant fender xd

  • suhrsuhrsuhrsuhrsuhr... way more

  • very nice guitar ,nice playing too

  • nice playin, what pups did you get in that thing?

  • should be suhr fl's, if i am right. i have one in the neck position, jeff beck at the bridge.

  • The base sound is great. Thats most important thing when you seek the ultimate guitar sound. Worldclass sounds.

  • Has a lot of bite. I'm diggin the clean tone. Wish to hear a more dirty sound. Great vid though.

  • nice to see you always have fun playing

  • hey - i play a classic t and just picked up a heatseeker!!! any thoughts on speaker/cab config?

    wicked licks!

  • Hi, I use an Avatar with Eminence Wizards.

  • beautiful tone! I have Suhr FL classic pickups in my guitar, and you make me want to find the nearest Mack dealer and run to it!

  • Thanks! Yeah, the Mack Heatseeker sounds very, very good. You'd probably love one!

  • that is a fantastic tone my friend, so clean and a very distinctive honk, is it the pick ups that give it that sound?

just hit u with a five star not that your short of them

  • Thank you! It's a combination of a fantastic guitar and amp that gives that distinctive tone.

  • i have an power amp with el84. this is the peavey classic 50 50. wich kind of sound give me the the el84?... wich is the difference between el34, 6l6 and el84? thx!

  • man...u got it ! ! thx for the demo!!!

  • The guitar doesn't have the Silent Single Coil system : why ? Does that change the sound or is it really too expensive ? Are these the 60's Suhr pickups ?

    Thanks.

  • The SSC was not invented in 2004, I don't think. It does not change the sound, what is does is take away the 60 cycle hum. These are V60LP pickups.

  • P.S. The EL84 being a pentode has a darker sound that the beam tetrode 6L6. Interesting to hear.

  • Is it an opinion or are you sure of it ?

  • Marshall = Dark - 'British Sound' EL34

    Fender = Bright - 'American Sound' 6L6

If you compare the Audio Note Oto and Soro integrated amps they also exhibit these properties and are EL84 and 5881 respectively.

I'm still waiting for the DA250 or 212 guitar amp, though the latter do emit x-rays.

  • I'm estonished because little Fender amps as the Blues Junior and others do use EL84 tubes

  • Err, piddling little practice amps. Still, you spelt astonished wrong, maybe I should pick up on that?

  • Comment removed

  • there is a little more to it than what types of tubes are used. but those are great little amps!

  • Rob, love your videos as I'm both making a vintage style strat *and* building a custom vintage style amp out of NOS components. Hearing you play all this gear is very useful to me and has helped my decision making process a lot. Keep playing, you're inspiring! :o)

  • Great sounding guitar and AWESOME playing!

  • el84 excelent tube..verry good sound

  • so much quack to those pickups! my dog might mistake it for a duck...

    great playing!

  • Hello! Love your sound and playing!

  • This guitar sounds like what a Strat should sound like, and what the old school Strats do sound like. So full. not thin like production instruments.

  • That was marvelous. Looks like you are going to have a lot of fun playing the frets off that Suhr. Thanks also for sharing your lessons.

  • this guitar can do so much. Sounds great. I would like to hear it with lots of crunch/ distortion.

  • A terrific guitar ! Very awsome tones.

As I use to watch your clips, I see your evolution. And you've a Marshall JVM410 too. I remember the SX kit...

  • And what's the song called at 08:47 - 09:10 ?

  • I just made it up on the fly.

  • OK, I really thought I heared that before. Really good playing anyway.

  • haha yeah it sounds a lot like a song i heard too, but i forgot what it was ahhh

its very popular though lol maybe stevie ray vaughn?

  • just a standard shuffle blues type riff

  • "testify", i believe.

  • Great sound and great playing of you!

What do you play at 04:45?

  • Just improvising something.

  • Thats guitar suits your style down to the ground. im thinking of getting one, how much did she set you back? Thanks

  • I hear a lot of pick and not much wood. I played on the same type of guitar. Very descent guitar. So I prefer Fender.

  • Holy shit that sounds good!!! I love the look of the classic strat style guitars. How much are those things?

  • Ahh, you know castration for a Suhr might actually be worth it, haha!

Hmm, hard to say about those percentages... maybe the Suhr is 40% and the amp 40% and me 20%? I don't really know... :)

  • i would say you 60 %, guitar and amp make up the rest :)

  • would you mind telling what pickups are in there? Thanks!

  • Ah....here's my ole YouTube buddy Rob, and i'll tell you, that Suhr just absolutely sounds wonderful. I'd LUV to have a Suhr, but i value my life too much, as my wife would castrate me if i came home with one. I'm esp. impressed with how the bridge pup sounds....i really never play there as the sound is just too flat, but your sound is chimey. How's that? Also, to what extent would attribute your nice sound to your amp/cab, and what % to the Suhr? Talk to you soon, Andrew B.

  • you are an amazing player. I have huge respect for you.

    Sol Philcox

  • Thanks a lot!

  • What a f*****g great guitar. Really nice. Its always fun listening to your music.

  • Thanks, the guitar is fantastic.

  • killer tone

  • fucking sweet playing!!

how long have you been playing for??

    great tone on the guitar

  • Thanks. I've been playing for 27 years.

  • i hope im that good after 27 years !

  • awesome! great playing nice bright tone

  • Thanks, it is a very versatile guitar.

  • Amazing tone. I didn´t know about Suhr guitars and now I know they rock. Highly priced though... :(

  • Thanks, better than any Fender I've ever played.

  • Wow, that´s something to say!! Hope I can try one. Good luck!

  • youve never played my guitar though, haha.

  • I agree. I just picked up a 2004 Shr Classic for $1400 and it blows away all my Fender guitars (except the John Mayer signature). I've actually sold the lot off (7 guitars in all) to fund a new Suhr guitar and Badger combo! ;)

  • think youre so cool cuz u gotta awesome guitar and can shred like a beast? well ur right

  • Can you tell me what's the ohmage of the pickups? ..they seem really HOT, nice sound. Thanks.

  • not sure, check the Suhr website. They are V60LP

  • Great playing sir, and even better tone!

  • Thanks!

  • There's seldom someone adding reasons to love what someone already loves. I've been lucky today

  • great job by the way i subscribed to you!

  • Thanks everyone for all the nice comments! It's all thanks to the guitar and amp you know - they practically play themselves, I just sit the and hold the stuff and hear it play. Well almost...

  • rotren for president!!!!!

  • very clean, bright and fresh sound..

    The Mad Bomber..

  • Lets hear it with the Maxon SD9

  • Man that set up sounds magical...and your playing IS NOT hurting anything!!! Great vids man, SUBSCRIBED!! : )

  • Crispy!

  • great tone great everything you are very talented

  • All kinds of awesome!

  • THanks for help!

  • so sweet sound

  • Hi there robert. care to share your specs with us? wood, bridge, fingerboard radius, pickups etc... cheers

  • Alder body. Maple neck, neck shape is 60's vintage medium .830mm - .950mm, 10-14 inch compound radius, rosewood fretboard, Gotoh 1088 bridge, Suhr VP60LP pickups, sperzel locking tuners, kick ass tone.

  • k, you play the SAME stuff i want to play - the lead, is what i want to learn. Got any tips?? Anything will help! OH and i don't know if anyone has told you but your AMAZING! lol

  • Number 1 tip - transcribe. Transcribe anything, parts of solos, licks, chords, just a note, etc. It's how I learned. Thanks for the kudos!

  • AMAZINNNNNNG......

    THANX!.......

  • Awesome and creative playing. Quick questions, where could you but this guitar and how much does it cost?

  • See suhrguitars . c o m and click on the Dealers link at the top.

  • love youre stuff , when how old were you when you started playing and how long has it been?

  • Thanks, I was 13 and I'm now 39.

  • amazing stuff!

  • You just dont want to put the guitar down, thats for sure, brilliant, you both rock... Encore!

  • Sounds great Robert. Glad to see you're enjoying your new guitar.

    Cheers

  • Could you please post some lessons teaching us those riffs?

    Thanks mate. They were tasty.

  • It's great to see you finally broke down and got a guitar commensurate to your ability ;)

  • Chapeau Rob! You let the Suhr sound beautiful.

  • espectacular

  • great

  • You're a great guy!

  • you got some pretty sweet chops there.

    awesome tone as always

    awesome video as always

  • Yes, sounds very nice, but then I've never heard you play anything that sounded bad. The Suhr is a fine instrument but I wish he'd redesign the headstock.

  • Just Great, and your enjoyment is very evident!

  • You are one hell of a player. I bet you could get that tone out of any guitar.

  • Thank you!

  • Remarkably clear tone. That is one nice guitar, my friend. Where did you get this one?

  • I bought it used from a guy in New Jersey.

  • of course.. trying to leave aside the guitar itself.. hardware, neck etc..if possible

  • Monstrous tone. After watching probably all the videos you put out Rob, I am mostly certain none of your other guitars comes close to this one. It sounds so dynamic and shimmering and quacky, it`s absurdly good. Every note you play breathes with life, even when using the distortion pedal. How do you think these pickups differ from the Fender CS '54?

  • It is indeed an incredible guitar. I have never played a Fender that sounded this good. These pickups are more "modern" and fatter and fuller sounding. The CS '54's are more old school and lower output. I like these pickups much better, but the '54s sound good too for less gainy tones.

  • sexy-ness

  • great sounding and playin'!!!

  • hey nice guitar and great playing

  • nice playin

  • hey nice guitar great playing
