  • shut that old man up

  • the only thing everyone picked up on was the friggin' treat thing....geeeesh

  • This whole post more or less plain horse sense! I laughed so hard when they guy explained about the treats! I see SO MANY people setting themselves up in this way! I have warned people about the treat giving , even seeing them get bit only moments after they poo pooed on me and said "pookie" don't bite ! I laughed! "DUDES" LOL

  • this video is a load of crap! horses appreciate it so much more when you give them a treat, you are rewarding them right when they do something right so they also know what is correct and incorrect. And what u think females cant trail horses you sexest ass! worst video ever. should be taken off

  • @SoleilStorm i agree with the man. a reward for a horse is pressure realese my man... not food...cuz eventually he wont liste to u if u aint got notinh to give him...

  • This is crazy I have broke horses from Mustang to Quarter and now I am braking draft breeds, I use treats as a reward for good behavior and EVERY horse that I have had and i have ever been around respects my space (and I ALWAYS have treats in my pockets!!!) If you treat them with respect and love them they return the same! We have way to many people out there that think they are just for show, sport and their own personal gain!

  • what a load of crap! I have had my mare for over 10 yrs since she was 3 and have always given her treats and she has plenty of respect riding and on the ground!

  • @Kamara50325 I think it depends on the horse. I've had my mare from the time she was 3 months (she's 10 now) and have always fed her treats by hand. She has never bit, or caused problems... however, some horses I've worked with developed a biting habit - especially the geldings and colts for some weird reason. So I really do think it depends on the horse.

  • Yeah I was giving my horse treats from my hand when I first got her; then she charged me(twice) and tried to snap at my face. My horse is mean to me. :(

  • I wish this video made a reference to the fact that all horses have different personalitys, and respond differently to new situations. Some horses might explode in situations that others will just be curious.

  • hey, i give my horse treats, and now she completely disrespects me and pretty much frisks me, thanks for the tip!! :D

  • 3:59 wtf?

  • Good advice for those who do not reconize that when a horse is given a treat, you are rewarding whatever behavior they were doing when they got that treat. If the horse was being pushy and rude when you gave them a treat, they will most likely do it again- hence the development of problems. Even if you do use buckets and feed mangers, poor behavior can still be rewarded. I have found that giving a signal before you give a treat will keep the horse from developing a lot of bad habits.

  • ridiculous. fredie knie used treats. treats are used at spanish riding school. respect is not about petting or treats.

  • Completely agree with you! Specially, the tip with the horse treats. I am glad to know there are somebody else who sees that way. I believe training a horse with some kind of treats other than petting and rubbing is asking for trouble and making more work for later. Personally I would like to make horse think that just being with me is a treat. It works wonders.

    Thank you!

  • Agree with that!! Why create problems that you haev to correct later. A person is not a feed trough.
