  • Wow, that is as close to fly porn as you can get. Stunning.

  • Hi Dave, thank you for another fantastic pattern from your vice. I have tried it and our Norwegian mountain trout seems to find it very interesting. I have only one problem, the Bug bond coating are loosening after caching a few trout. Do you have any idea how to avoid that to happen? Will the Bug bond be stronger and harder the longer it will be exposure by the UV-light?

    Best regards Jens

  • Hi Jens,

I'm looking at buying a stronger uv lamp to see if it will cure the resin as the torch batteries don't last very long and I would really like it to be a real success as it does such a great job, I will be putting it on youtube if I find it better. I have been applying the bug-bond very lightly and building up the coats which seems to be fine.

    All the best Davie

  • @DavieMcPhail

    Hi Dave,

Just curious if you have came across a better UV light source. Also what wavelength of UV does the bugbond light emit? I've seen some actual lamps that you can plug in, but are super expensive and want to know if they would work for setting the resin before possibly purchasing.

    Cheers,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff(fujoman999),

I would say the best torches I've used is the Ultra Fire WF-501B and the Bug-Bond Pro Torch which has a number EBS2011CE andBB/EDW5061..I wouldn't know about the lamps as I have only ever used the torches that these companys supply..There is a UV laser light which works really well...

I hope this is of some help to you...

    All the best Davie

  • Sorry for the long delay......I'm using sharpie pens.....but since my 1st post....I have been tying a lot of buzzers and it only seems to the "red" colour pen that I'm having chemical reaction problem with.....

  • Hi Dave...fab buzzer..and once again you pioneer the way in fly tying. I went out and got all the kit. Started to make them and theres a problem on some of the buzzers (not all) after I have done the final cure...when I apply a coat of varnish (Sally hansen hard as nails) there seems to be a Chemical reaction and the buzzer turns an rusty-orange colour all over........any advice ???

  • Hi fishermansfreind999,

The chance is that the pen that you have used has caused this problem as I have had something similar happen what one did you use?

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, I was looking for the Partridge and Orange. I'm sure you did a video on it but now cannot find it. Any chance of you reposting it? It's a great fly.

  • Hi fishingforeverything,

Buzzer/midge patterns are fished all through the season on the lochs and lakes here in the U.K you would be very silly not to have some with you when fishing...

The Ice Blue Pearl came from Veniards so if you know any tackle shop that has their products then they should be able to buy it in for you, it comes in three sizes small, medium and large I use the medium and the large mostly...
