  • These are your heroes, America! They're true patriots in an era with hollow name-dropping by those who are working in the trenches of medicine - physicians, nurses, patient advocates. Kudos to Dr. Flowers!! Single-payer NOW!!

  • Healthcare is not in the constitution. Its not a federal government function. Single-payer if implemented should be on a state level, like other single-payer social services that we get, e.g. fire fighters, police, etc.

  • Max Baucus is an arrogant SOB. The majority of Montanans want Single Payer. The Baucus 13, including Margaret Flowers, are the brave men and women who are fighting greed and corruption that have no place in the health care field.

We will get Single Payer. We will prevail. It's a moral obligation. The Death Assurance Industry will soon be put to death themselves.

  • OBAMA SUCKING MORE NOW THAN EVER!

  • OK, Let Me Get This Straight - Obama Can Ask Me To Verify That I Have Health Insurance but it's Racist If The AZ Law Ask People To Verify That They're A Legal Citizen???? We Have Entered The Twilight Zone.

  • Keep the FUD flowing, its not going to work. We could use a little socialism in our democracy. So thank you for talking about it, the more you do the more people will want to know what its about and find that its a much better system then capitalism.

  • @trinsic1 How? Some socialism is necessary for the general welfare roads and such, but socialism is not a absolute and nor is capitalism, some things have to handled by the Gov but others are more well suited to the private sectort. Voting from you wallet is better democracy then wait 4 years or mob rule.

  • socialism sucks! Obama sucks!

  • @BestPoliticalVideos Come on thats not a good argument either, think critically. And i would say Obama is more Center-Right then Left.

  • @mxrss - I don't care where you think he is on the political spectrum - Obama SUCKS! PERIOD!

  • @BestPoliticalVideos Again thats not a good argument, if you can provide a argument i am more likely to take what your saying more srsly

  • @mxrss - Obama sucks - argument over! ;-)

  • Typiical republican bullshit they have there mouth around the big business cock they can't even see straight

  • @Teamster83 You do realize you still need commerce for a country to work, your a teamster you still work for a big company that provides you with benefits and compensation to do the work. A majority of people though work for small companies, people who work for the big guy are the minority, and guess what some things that affect big bussiness affect small business doubly so. SO are you are again small business as well as a big business?

  • hahahaha they respect the views of all members in the room !!! hjahahahah and why the fucked are you kicking them out !! if we supposely have a democracy why the fuck you do not let them speak!! we , the working class are the one who run this economy !! and not the fucking insurance industry !!

  • hahhaha yea thts why 13 other countrys dont spend near as much, covers everybody and they live alot longer i dont see the canadians flying here for health care you idot republican

  • @Teamster83 you are right , it does not matter if you are republican or democrat, we are not getting Single payer health care because it is not good for the insurance industry. The they that all the workers in the states united and organized we would have whatever we want until that they were are going to be fuck up by both Republicans and Democrats.

Long live workers united of the World !!

  • @Teamster83 Actually that is not quite true, because the amount of time some procedures take some canadians do fly to the US to recieve procedures or use one of our specialists.

  • Canadian Health Care system SUCKS!

United States has THE BEST DOCTORS, THE BEST HOSPITALS, THE BEST RESEARCH, THE BEST FACILITIES, THE BEST EQUIPMENT, THE BEST MEDICINES!!!

Obama wants to drag down the QUALITY of health care in America for a small percentage of people that do not have health care for BAD REASONS! I know people that have a car, big screen TV, computer and all the latest iPods, gadgets but they don't have health care. TORT REFORM, OPEN STATE BORDERS for access to Insurance Comps

  • rotflmao @ thejonny5ive

  • You do realize that you pay over 600% more for your treatments and drugs then we do in Canada. In fact you pay more for your services then any country in the world!

We pay 33% tax per individual, we get Universal healthcare covering 100% of the Pop.

You (the US) spends 32%... but pay up to 600% more on the same treatment as we have and you still only cover about 80% of the pop.

Politicians don't even get involved... the standards are in place now, through the medical community.

  • @thejonny5ive Have you taken into consideration that patents are a reason for this and so is the FDA. I am not saying that this is bad, but US leads the world on finding these drugs, other nations dont allow to patent drug formulas.

  • Besides... the co-pay/HMO/insurance system is FAR more bureaucratic then any Gov. Health care.

Health care for profit is just a strange notion... after all the fuller a hospital is the more profit it retains. Wouldn't it be better if hospitals had less patients because they concentrated on more efficient, preventative, more accessible health coverage? Instead of co-pay triplicate no-preexisting paper work assessments that are riddled with legalese

  • WE WANT SINGLE PAYER!!!!

    WE ARE THE PEOPLE!!!

    WE WANT SINGLE PAYERS!!!!!!

We are tired of paying so much for our health care!!!!!

  • 9/12 Washington DC - the people have spoken!

  • Where do u turn to when Government Health Care fails you? In England it is ILLEGAL to try and purchase private health care when the Government fails to provide adequate care. There's your "death panel".

Liberals - u don't realize those who oppose Government Health Care are looking out for EVERYONE. Those who want Single Payer are SELFISH and think they are looking out for the helpless when u r just signing a death warrant 4 EVERYONE!

  • This is biased. If you watch "town hall" videos then you will see true Americans voicing their opposition to the Health Care Overhaul. The protesting "Americans" on this video are paid Washington protesters put their by the liberal labor unions. Notice how well timed and organized they where? It was planned and they walked in there knowing each other. Town hall citizens are there because they are concerned and want their Reps to know what it is they want.

  • This video is bias and disinformation. I point this out despite the fact that I agree with other videos produced by "therealnews."

  • you respect them but escort them out LOL (ha ha ha ha ah ah ah aha hahahhahahah)

  • U still don't get it - We only have so many Doctors in so many regions. When a Doctor wants to move to a new area and continue to practice the government won't allow him to because certain areas will have their "Doctor" quota filled.

Government control over people. THAT'S SOCIALISM moving towards COMMUNISM!

The MAJORITY of America does not want to go down this road.

  • Not true dipshit.

The amount of doctors has nothing to do with it when other countries have doctor shortages yet fill their quotas just fine.

  • rotflmao - u make no sense

  • I make dollars but thanks for thinking about me, dork.

Thanks for ignoring the rest of the world though. Maybe you need to travel outside of flyover country?

  • another illiterate response

  • illiterate means you can't read.

Do you just look up words and string them together or something?

  • What the hell is wrong with Americans? There isn't only 'One' option. Your logic is way off, it's like saying that the US military will eventually become communist because the government controls them.

The PEOPLE of American can chose to run a public option (the best one in the world) and maintain a private option too. And the PEOPLE of America can also MAINTAIN an efficient public system as long as they want to, don't sell yourselves short.

  • Government option is an AWFUL OPTION. The Government can not run ANYTHING efficiently and you can not expect them to run something as complicated as health care.

The CHEAPER and EASIER solution is to just open up state borders for insurance access. It will CREATE the FREE MARKET COMPETITION that is needed to lower insurance costs!

  • Wow... where do you live?

Don't you realize that the same PEOPLE that become CEO's and office workers can also be Politicians or government officials... and they are called Americans... and they could even be people you know. Are you saying Americans can't run anything efficient?

  • Wow! Where do you live? Politicians usually go into politics because they are corrupt. You TRUST politicians? You TRUSTED Bush? The GOVERNMENT BLOWS! We are in the predicament we're in BECAUSE of POLITICIANS! Doesn't matter whether they are REPUBLICANS or DEMOCRATS. They ALL SUCK!

  • You go to your doctor (yes the one you already have) and get treated... they send the bill to the state, you go home healthy and happy. No bills, no fees no worries.

The Gov. pays the bill just like they do with all the other work covered by the state. Roads, Military, FD's, PD's, Parks, Garbage...

The system is already there, only your doctor would send the bill to the gov. not a private insurer.

One buyer, one payer. Eliminating MASSIVE inflation of drugs/care/treatment costs.

  • ROTFLMAO - have you been to the Post Office? Have you been to the DMV? Do you know Medicare and Medicaid are going broke? Do you know the U.S. Government is going bankrupt? Do you know Generations of Americans will be paying for Obama's irresponsible spending spree for decades?

  • Actually no.. I've never been to the US Post or the DMV.

I though Obama was just elected? Seems to me that he just started a Keynesian economic recovery plan.

I mean surely you can't blame Obama for the DMV, Post and Medicare issues? I'm not an American, but it seems to me that the War was already going on when Obama took office.

I don't understand what you expect a new gov. to do?

But I suppose you have better plans... like privatization?

    And down goes the empire.

  • so you want to see our great health care go down the toilet like Canada! Here's some advice - this is an American issue - SHUT UP!

  • To clarify, the Canadian system is just fine.

And if Americans don't like our opinions then stop dragging false Canadian claims on our healthcare services...

Not that it matters, this is youtube... no need to censor anyone. Just read... filter and carry on.

  • @BestPoliticalVideos hahahah dude our health care is already down do you know how much a hospital charge for 5 days in an emergency room ? about 40k !!! this is the reason why Medicare does not work , our tax money get expended the wrong way. We need to reduce the cost of hospitals and the drug industry if we want care for every American !!

  • @cesarojas182

Single payer IS NOT the answer.

You need TORT reform and competition across state borders. Government controlled health care is a nightmare. The Government CAN NOT run ANYTHING! For example - MEDICARE - PERFECT EXAMPLE - THANK YOU!

The American people have spoken through Massachusetts.

Obama's socialist policies are NOT wanted in the U.S.A.

  • @cesarojas182 then you would need to eliminate the FDA and the AMA to do so. At one time Medical Care was affordable and more so a doctor was in the business of customer service. How things have changed in less then 30 years.

  • @BestPoliticalVideos dude medicaid sucks for this reason, Hospitals and the drug industry charge whatever the fuck they want!!!! why is that it cost 40k for 5 days on the emergency room ? if we bring those prices down Medicare would be efficiently. Obamas care sucks too because it would give more money to insurance industry because everyone would have to have it !! we need single payer and we also need to abolish the private insurance and work directly with doctors

  • @BestPoliticalVideos the government only becomes ineffective when its run by people that dont have an interest in helping the people of the country. The reason why its so fucked up now is because of all the corruption. so dont blame government, blame capitalism and its every ending greed for more wealth at the expense of its own citizens.

  • @trinsic1

Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the Democratic party have failed. Bush sucked too!

I trust Capitalism more than big government.

  • @BestPoliticalVideos You are living a lie if you trust capitalism. Big government is a result of distorted capitalism.

  • @trinsic1

    You got it wrong

Distorted capitalism is a result of big government. ;-)

  • @BestPoliticalVideos yeah im sure you believe that.

  • Let me get this straight. Obamas health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesnt understand it, passed by a Congress that hasnt read it, signed by a President that talks without facts and who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is nearly broke. What could possibly go wrong?

  • You apparently didn't get it straight.

    Single payer/Public option or death.

  • Single Payer/Public option IS death!

  • Let's just ignore the rest of the free world's UHC systems and also ignore the fact that old people love medicare and ALSO ignore the fact that we're already blowing huge amounts of money on a broken insurance system. People are already dying as our life expectancy is the lowest amongst other first world nations. In LA they treated people that had 3rd world basic problems. In California...

Spout facts instead of stupid sound bytes that you're unable to reason through.

  • Hey nums, you got any facts yourself?

  • Yeah it's called the rest of the free world.

    47 million uninsured.

Biggest reason for bankrupcy is medical insurance not covering anything.

This is neither a liberal problem nor a republican problem but an American problem. Pull the nails out of your asshole, k CharlietheCognitiveDissonance?

  • Single payer = Government control over your life.

    Goodbye freedom

Go to Canada - I hear they have a lovely health care system that you want.

  • Too bad that's not an option for anyone since Canada only takes in high skilled workers.

I'd rather have government control UHC since the private companies have failed completely. It is a broken system and every other country in the free world uses UHC except ours.

Address my facts instead of pulling this smugshitfest that you're doing right now, coward.

  • I hope you contract a major illness and are forced to endure the 'best healthcare system in the world.' I sincerely do.

  • You just hit the nail RIGHT on the head!

  • Single payer would save like 350 billion in administrative costs alone, due to hospitals/doctors/clinics having to fill out a myriad of different forms from various insurance companies, and also follow different reimbursement plans for each company.

That's enough to pay for the whole kit-and-kaboodle, yet we're not going to do it.

What the fuck is wrong with our country?

  • 60% or higher tax rate... lol

  • yo mxrss, anyone that runs for congress that doesn't take courses in speed reading should be censured. hope this helps.

  • that single payer dude should have screamed and had a gun, then they would have changed their minds and also not arrested him. they'd probably have a beer with him too.

  • we deeply respect them, that's why we're laughing at them and arresting them.

  • Pelosi, Baucus, Obama; all are massive traitors and should be publicly executed.

  • captions would be helpful!

  • Keep it up. This system has serious problem. Single payer now for all of us. Fight those profit driven industrial lobbyists who collapse Wall Street and industrial lobbyists who kill the electric cars.

  • You will not here the dems breath a word of truth because power is the cure. They want to control the masses, Teddy Roosevelt first proposed national health insurance in 1912, FDR proposed it again in the 1930s. Harry Truman proposed it again in the 1940s. They've been waiting along time for this progressive power holy grail issue, healthcare is the way to pure Socialism, Reagan was warning of this as far back as the 60s.

  • @hellotommy Reagan was a corporate puppet, so his warnings dont acount. A we could use a little socialism in healthcare. You might want to look the word up so you know what you are talking about.

  • @trinsic1 By RON FOURNIER, Associated Press Writer Ron Fournier, Associated Press Writer Thu Apr 8, 10:47 pm ET

NEW ORLEANS Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a potential presidential candidate in 2012, called Barack Obama on Thursday "the most radical president in American history" who oversees a "secular, socialist machine."

Better tell Newt he doesn't know socialism either.

  • @hellotommy Its the same game there playing trying to install fear, uncertainty and doubt. Im not buying it, and neither is the American people.

  • The US economy is tanking and the dems have been busy in a year long war against the American peoples liberty. We're told to wait for economic prosperity and jobs while they secretly implement Socialized Health Care. Not until Mass. did they redline. If Obama doesn't fix the free market we will see union and government jobs eclipse the Capitalist FM system and by default we will wake up to find a stagnant socialist democracy has come to America. Our founding principles are being stripped away...

  • Baccus is just another corporate whore Money buys his loyalty. No intergrity at all

  • Was that an organized protest?

And they are so well dressed.

  • The government does such a great job with the DMV, might as well give them charge of the health system as well. After all, it does say in the constitution that "it is the job and duty of the federal government to pay for every single citizen's health care". Besides, its not like we have a 14 trillion dollar debt and a deficit of over 1 trillion dollars or anything, we might as well just go ahead and fund this too.

  • This is like those 911 videos. The facts in this video is FOR single payer and not objectively giving its viewers the pros and cons for both. Just another attack video.

  • This video neglects to inform you that in Canada & other countries with Single payer health care systems, the service is slow, lousy, inadequate, & most importantly, governments such as Canada have been sued by their own citizens to be freed from the bankrupt single payer system. Every single payer system in the world is woefully bankrupt so those governments cut services. And these are countries that dont have nearly the population the U.S. has. I.e. 307 million U.S. vs. 33 million Canada

  • Please refrain from passing along right-wing propaganda.

    (dot) pnhp (dot) org/ news / 2008 / february / 10 _ myths _ about _ canad (dot) php

  • @A86 Have you lived in Canada? Go get a copy of their WAIT list. NPR just reported on Europe's system bankrupting the countries who have it. Google the Canada lawsuit over healthcare. Citizens won the right to opt out and most have.

  • @MrHamlet - There are wait times in the US as well. Canada's wait time is only 50% longer on average.

"Europe's system bankrupting the countries who have it"

    1) Only Iceland and Finland are bankrupt.

    2) That's impossible as national healthcare in Europe costs only 1/3-1/2 of what healthcare costs per capita in the US. The US spends 17% of its GDP on healthcare. No European country spends more than 12% of its GDP on healthcare. Iceland and Finland's bankruptcy has nothing to do with healthcare.

  • @A86 What wait time in the U.S.? NPR covered a series of stories showing how Europe is in trouble. Did you hear about Spain pushing back? Also did you account for the fact that income taxes are significanly higher and most citizens are poorer as a result? Insurance in the U.S. is far cheaper that a government run single payer system with income tax rates at 50% and higher.

  • @MrHamlet - I don't when the last time you went to the doctor was but in the US we have a wait time too. You can't just drop in any time to any doctor:

    (dot) alternet (dot) org/ health / 76032

Most of Europe is not in as deep financial water as we area right now. Spain's economic problems has little if anything to do with health care. No European country spends more than 12% of its GDP on healthcare. We spend 17% of our GDP on healthcare. lol

  • @MrHamlet - Significantly poorer? A lot of European countries have higher living standards than we do. All countries that have the world's highest living standards have high taxes. You can't have first world schools, services, infrastructure, etc. without paying for it. Most people in developing countries would LOVE IT if they could pay 5% more in income taxes to have paved roads, free education, free healthcare, school lunch programs, a fire department, a police force, etc.

  • @MrHamlet - "Insurance in the U.S. is far cheaper that a government run single payer system"

You kidding? The cost of healthcare in the US costs 2 to 3 times per capita what it costs any other industrialized country in the world (all of which have single payer systems or some Public Option-like system).

  • @MrHamlet - No to mention Canada's life expectancy is longer, they have lower infant mortality and lower rates of death from preventable illness.

  • Those who made their voices heard are true heroes! Thank you!!

  • you mean kind of like how it is here in America....yah it isn't slow, lousy, inadequate ..../sarcasm off

  • If you think it's bad now...just wait. Government is about to make it worse. Go talk to someone on medicare/cade or VA. I agree that there is room for improvement, no doubt. But the government option on the table is horrible. Single payer uses the same crap method as SS and will end up broke and broken.

  • @MrHamlet Yeah, is the exact same system the government employees use, and you are arguing against it. I cant believe how many people dont have a clue as to what is going on. We pay the bill when government employees use their healthcare, thats called a single payer system.

  • @trinsic1 RU sure U have a clue? I have read through most of the bill & it is not a single payer system & nothing like the government employees system. Please explain why you think it is. The new laws do not address health care costs which is the real problem. Overzealous regulation has created sky high health care prices. The new laws are designed to bankrupt the health insurance industry to force people into a single payer system.

  • @MrHamlet yeah its not, but I was for a single payer system and still am. I hope we do bankrupt the insurance industry so that we all have a single payer system, which is what pretty much 75 percent of the world has and has been working much better than our system. Im pretty sure that the new bill helps the insurance industry by forcing people to by insurance. its another bailout all over again with the insurance industry.

  • Yes it is, tejano2828. Health care didn't come in time for a colleague of mine who worked at CIGNA with me. She died after a year of working without insurance at one of the largest insurance companies from pneumonia. She was a single mother of three small children, and a single-payer plan would've prevented this needless death of my friend.

So, here's to your memory, Christine. RIP, my friend.

  • @tejano2828 Please tell me why heads of state and rich people from around the world come to the United States for serious medical attention? And please explain why the U.S. still leads the way in medical innovation if the U.S. system sucks? Put aside your political religious beliefs and look for the truth.

  • @MrHamlet We have 45 million people without health care insurance. 45,000 die every year. A health care system should not be judged by how well it works for rich people.

  • @woostopalypse Well your stats don't jibe even with the White House. Reality is that close to 90% of Americans like their healthcare and are happy with it. I am not rich and I am happy with my healthcare. Do I think costs are too high? Yes - but Obama even admits his healthcare laws do little to nothing to deal with that problem. Healthcare costs are the real problem.

  • @MrHamlet Even if you are happy with your healthcare, there are still millions of people uninsured. I'm not sure why you brought up obama, because he doesn't support single payer.

Single payer health care systems pay less per capital than America does. America actually spends nearly double than Canada. There is no reason why we can't go to single payer. You'd still be covered along with everyone else.

  • 70% citizens say here/ They want, "Single -Payer"/ And Obama campaigned on it/ Number 37 on healthcare/ How other nations compare/ Do your jobs you pieces of shit/ You are killing people now/ By just fooling around/ With word games & B. S. policies/ Get on the stick/ You bunch of filthy rich/ Lobbyist loving lap-dogies/ Gotta get this done/WORK, no more fun!/ You A-holes stay over until/ "We The People" get/ Finally represented right/ Or Congressmen pays citizens' healthcare bill !!!!!
  • 70% thats an inflated number, most americans that have corporate insurance would say they are happy with thier coverage. remember only 48 Million are uninsured out of 304,059,724 - Jul 2008

Seems like a lot for such a small percentage, lets come up with tort reform, if the state wants to create free clinics for the TRULY destitute then I am ok with that, but taxing the 5% will not equate to the kind of service people want. Tax base will then have to tax the middle class.

  • mrs- Who gives a shit what you are okay with.Didn't you get the memo? Thousands of people are dying here in the USA, more accuratey, being murdered by the USA's present healthcare system. Right now, 50% of American bankruptcies are due to overwhelming health care bills. We're not only talking about the uninsured, this crisis refers to a desperate working class of more than a hundred million, braindead. Get your head out of your ass!

It's called single-payer for all so do it!

  • Nice statistic, where are the facts, your saying 50% bankrupticies how about showing some facts, what is the % of bankruptcies in teh US. Whats your point? So having a goverment option for a goverment that cant govern worth a damn is supposed to fix the issue? When the goverment has a good idea and can actually implement the damn thing without passing a shit load of debt then talk to me, lets come up with a fiscally responsible solution. Not more saddled debt for the next generation to pay.

  • @warhater Yeah I am going to raise the B.S. flag on this. Even the stats from the Obama administration show 85% of Americans are insured and are happy. 7% of the uninsured are illegal aliens. 3% already qualify for government insurance but don't sign up for it, and the last 5% CAN afford health care, but refuse to do so. The lastest polls from zogby, etc show that Americans are upset with the COST of care such as medcine, not the insurance companies.

  • @warhater So then why don't you tell Obama to outlaw unions?

  • SINGLE-PAYER IS THE ONLY SOLUTION.

It does NOT mean government runs healthcare, it simply means that it funds it. The delivery will be private, but not-for-profit. It will also allow free-choice, and cut costs for healthcare.

  • Ever heard of the golden rule, who ever has the gold makes the rules. Goverment is running Medicad and Medicare and those are big flipping failures, your disillusioned if you do not think the goveremnt is not going to be running it. Goverment will appoint thier boards, they will weigh risk after all they have to make sure that the system does not become a black hole. Thier are better solutions to push one and say its the one without discussion about others is foolish. Remember the PATRIOT act?

  • mrs-Take Medicare & Medicare away from those who survive on it & see what happens, Einstein. We've heard your ReFlubLieRant, con(vict)servative, fright wing rant b/4 & it still is a bold faced lie. No one believes your pond scum spew anymore. U idiots just drove the USA/world into financial hell you selfish little boys. You need help:Make a searching inventory of your own personal honesty. If you've forgotten how to tell the truth find someone to help you. Ur moral dillema is life threatening.

  • wow i am so great i am speaking to such an intellect as yourself, maybe you will tell me that that moon landing was faked, how about you help solve the problem, instead of adding personal attacks, last time i checked this is the USA not communist russia you know that thing called the consitution it enacts a certain power where one can disagree with goverment or god forbid you. War is admirable thing to hate, but finding a solution by passing something without considering alternatives is stupid.

  • further, I believe we can create a solution that is equitable for all parties, but goverment competition is only one and should be the last one at best, lets start on tort reform, measure the impact on that. Also Life is not going to be 100% fair for anyone, you cant make it so, and in my view only the truly needing are deserving of help.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. -Thomas Jefferson

  • @mxrss Corporations are not part of the process, we dont bargin with them, they serve the people. So no we dont have any reason to work with all parties. We have an obligation to get healthcare to the people regardless of the private sector.

  • You're an ass... Insurance companies do that already except the exclude 1/4 of the population... You've obiously never lived in a country with a single payer system and are propagandized by American non-sense...

Single payer is the only way to go...

  • Why am i an ass? You know thier is a way to get a point accross without personal attacks. Do i attack you, or call you an idiot, I am having a rational discussion not a name calling session. Act your age. If you have a differing oppinion state it but dont call someone a name because they dont believe in the same thing you do.

  • When the entire world puts a method to use and gets good results than that is a good system.

When someone stand against all the evidence and claims that a failing system is better that makes them an ass...

    You sir are an ass...

  • DId i say the failing system is better? Did i assert that, read my posts, I am against the goverment saying this is the best option, in light that there are no other choices. When you do that you fall into feature creep which this GOD bill they are trying to pass looks like. Have you read the bill? You attack people yet you offer no solution your self, your a troll.

  • Where do you get 1/4th of the population there are only 48 million people uninsured.

  • Wow man only 48 million...

You do realize that 48 million is no trivial number of even insignificant things... If you had 48 million buttons your house would over flow...

48 million dollars and you have no worries...

48 million lives at risk everyday? Don't you think that's a serious problem?

  • You said 1/4th of the population, 48 million is not 1/4th. its not a ingsignificant number, but you spouted off it was 1/4th of the totatl population. What i really want to know, is how is the goverment going to fund this. we collect 3 trillion every year in taxes. Where is this money going to come from? And how is this not going to be another black hole spending measure, also dont you worry the fact that they just want it passed without proper time to be read?

  • You're symantically correct on the % of the population. Congrats you nit-picker...

How will they fund it. Oh Idk. When the insurance companies aren't skimming off the top of your check anymore you could just use that money more effectively. You know how every other country does it...

Seriously I can't beleive people are arguing against this... Notice how the rest of the world laughs at us?

  • Again, why the attack, you dont have to be so sarcastic in your posts?

Many of the socialized health care programs are operating at deficits, most countries have institutied counter measures like enfocing co-pays. In frances system they are experiecing some hospital closures, which causes problems, because if you have to go farther then that means you have a higher mortality rate when you need emergency care.

  • All 48 million can go through any emergency room at any hospital in this country and receive FREE healthcare. And why don't we teach people to live healthier lives and disease prevention. For example, cigarettes should be $20.00 a pack and the taxes and some of the profit should go to finance FREE healthcare.

  • And you already pay for them via higher insurance premiums... You're paying for them anyway, so why would you be unwilling to do so under a more efficient system?

Secondly yearly check-ups and routine exams are part of living a healthier life and this is denied to the uninsured but wouldn't be under single payer...

You're arguments reflect severe bias and a crass understanding of what single payer is...

Price gouging a small % of the population is no way to go though

  • good point JSparkleZ2. if you stacked 48 million pennies it would be approximately 370 furlongs tall. that's a lot of furlongs.

  • Medicare and Medicaid are not failures, ask almost any Doctor who they would rather have pay them, private insurance or Medicare? The only problems with medicare is the corporate welfare in it.

  • The jackass responds to the early protests by saying single payers want waste, thinking the opinion is a fucking joke. After throwing out a half dozen he starts talking about respecting their opinions. This just goes to show how little politicians know of the real opinions of Americans. Why do we bother to vote anymore?

  • And people complained when Spector was protested.

  • I don't like single-payer. Why should people who are happy with their private insurance be forced to move to a possibly inferior government program?

  • Who is happy with their insurance though? You pay for it every paycheck, then you still pay for it at the doctor's office, and then you pay the insurance company for what they don't cover...

    My main question:

How can it possibly be more expensive to provide the same care while removing the insurance middleman?

  • Comment removed

  • I agree. Leave me alone - I don't want more government control in my life. The government can't even run the post office, medicare, VA correctly - why the hell would I want that kind of politically driven piss poor service? No one has a right to my money or a right to control my personal life or control my health care.

  • The people are demanding bread and a circus...

  • Pres.Obama PROMISED no more Lobbiest in the White House ! They never left they are in the Basement with Elizabeth Cheney in the Basement of the White House and are still running the WORLD !

  • I'm gonna vote third party next election.

  • I don't care if I cause a Republican to win fuck this country.

  • Google Lobbyist database (open secrets) and have a look for you self. How can they take this money from the few and serve the majority.

  • Dont let the insurance lobbyist propaganda machine and a few wing nuts brainwash us, its not about whats best for you its about keeping the money flowing in. You think the ultra rich power base in Washington will feed us the facts about their cash cow. NO they get cash for votes and the guarantee of a fat corporate job if they get voted out for going against the people.

  • So conservatives need to look at the total cost of the health insurance industry

  • Health insurance is the number one reason US businesses are uncompetitive in the world market. Conservatives think just because your employer pays your health insurance its free, wrong. The cost of insurance is passed on to you and me with every thing we buy, $3000 dollars on a new car just to cover worker health insurance, and soon they off shore jobs to get around health care for workers and good bye job and insurance.

  • do we need even more reason to support the Green party/ Why g why or why do so many 'progressives" continue to follow the donkey????

  • I vote for Single-Payer.

The public should get involved and help this happen. IF the public acts loudly and honestly we can win.

  • "IF the public acts loudly and honestly we can win. "

    We're doomed.

  • Heres a rundown of money that the people who are blocking real reform in health care have received from the health care industry: Specter ($4,02m) Baucus ($2,8m) McConnell ($2.7m) When you take a look at Big Insurance, the non-presidential candidates who got biggest legalized bribes were the 7 senators tasked with the job of killing single-payer: Nelson ($1.1m) Baucus ($1.1m) Lieberman ($1.03m) Specter ($1.03m) Schumer ( $0.98m) McConnell ($0.93m) Grassley ($0.88m)
  • 2:03, what a smug fucking bastard. The Democrat party is dead. America needs more than right and center-right. America needs more parties for the people.

Republicans are elitist assholes, and so are Democrats. I'll give it to the Republicans for at least not trying to hide the fact that they're elitist.

  • "We need more police" says Senator Baucus. Yeah, to arrest you!

  • In the former Soviet Union, the government ran the corporations. In the USA, the corportations dictate policies to the government by donating large sums of money to those who make policy. Pretty much same outcome-the working class suffers.

Health care policy in the US is not different than the bail out policy. It's only for the elite. As the elite bankrupt companies and we the people loose our jobs, we also loose our health care. These are the people we elected.

    Should have elected Kucinich.

  • The USA already has a single payer system, It's called Medicare so, WE ARE NOT STARTING FROM SCRATCH, PERIOD.

WAKE THE HELL-UP, start thinking for your self's, and quit letting politicians and the Health Care Industry do your thinking for you !

  • Agreed. However whenever anyone starts to think for themselves and ask questions or demands answers, they are silenced & escorted out by "law" enforcement.

  • There can be no healthcare reform without cost reductions. There can be no cost reduction until physicians disclose costs at the point of care, where medical and financial decisions are made and consumer pressure can be exerted.

As long as costs are hidden from the light of day, they will increase. learn more at SITinRx com

  • Push back... your politicians has staffers that answer the phone and record and Track call-ins.

They even agree to note your issues and log the calls to show there boss who and how many issues there dealing with and if your a voting from their district.

Low to no complaints allows them to vote with the money... voter HEAT count puts them into a survival mod .

If they commit to the money in a HIGH HEAT count, bet your last dollar they go into the next election wearing a parachute .

  • Socialized heath care now!

  • The first guy arrested here by those gestapos was the great patriot, political activist, Director of Democracy Rising, co-founder of Voters for Peace, and former candidate for Senate, Kevin Zeese. Max Baucus just showed he is unqualified and unfit for office. People in Montana ought to run that fascist out on a rail. What happened to "...deriving their powers from the consent of the governed" ? The last time I checked, that was still in the Declaration of Independence.

  • What a bunch of elitists. Public servants indeed!

They think they are better than the citizens they are supposed to represent; they have no respect; what a bunch of freeloaders.

Many of us could do a better job than they are doing. They are paid way too much. If politicians wages were similar to what many of us earn, they would probably never run for office.

  • The blatant fraud of the all the Senators present is at last exposed. These charlatan politician liars need to be thrown in jail themselves. Oh, America, how you have fallen! When the voice of the people is not tolerated in the Congress, the country is ready to collapse. All Truth, integrity, and concern for the common good is trampled. These men don't deserve respect. They like Cheney and Bush deserve Jail!

  • Why did the audience not block the police from removing citizens who represent widely held views among the public. Does anyone care that we live in a police state? Senator Backus wants more police. He apparently fails to appreciate that he was elected to represent the people and not the corporate interests. Nothing in our constitution entitles corporations or lobbying organizations such as the Business Roundtable to representation by Congress. Backus should be impeached.

  • Cowards plain and simple.

    Fuck these money grubbing monsters

  • ever notice that the police is there to protect the powerful

  • Money is a failed system. Insurance is an evil scam which is destroying America ( U.S.A. )

The single-payer option is "not on the table" because the insurance industry would collapse if it were on the table.

  • I'm a 24 year old line cook and because of the recession, I now have no health care. Fuck those assholes who say that I shouldn't be covered by the gov't

  • reasons against:

There isn't a single government agency that runs efficiently; do we really want an organization that developed the U.S. Tax Code handling something as complex as health care?

"Free" health care isn't really free since we must pay for it with taxes; expenses for health care would have to be paid for with higher taxes or spending cuts in other areas such as education

Profit motives, competition, ingenuity have always led to greater cost control and effectiveness

  • Government-controlled health care would lead to a decrease in patient flexibility

Patients aren't likely to curb their drug costs and doctor visits if health care is free; thus, total costs will be several times what they are now.

Just because Americans are uninsured doesn't mean they can't receive health care; nonprofits and government-run hospitals provide services to those who don't have insurance, and it is illegal to refuse emergency medical service because of a lack of insurance.

  • Government-mandated procedures will likely reduce doctor flexibility and lead to poor patient care.

Healthy people who take care of themselves will have to pay for the burden of those who smoke, are obese, etc.

A long, painful transition will have to take place involving lost insurance industry jobs, business closures, and new patient record creation.

Loss of private practice options and possible reduced pay may dissuade many would-be doctors from pursuing the profession

  • Malpractice lawsuit costs, which are already sky-high, could further explode since universal care may expose the government to legal liability, &the possibility to sue someone with deep pockets usually invites more lawsuits

Govt is more likely to pass more restrictions or increase taxes on smoking, fast food, etc., leading to a further loss of personal freedoms

Patient confidentiality is likely to be compromised since centralized health information will likely be maintained by the govt

  • Like social security, any government benefit eventually is taken as a "right" by the public, meaning that it's politically near impossible to remove or curtail it later on when costs get out of control.

  • please feel free to respond to any of my 'cons' to national health care

  • fyi Canadian conservatives used the same kind of fear mongering when Tommy Douglas rose to power, we understand you guys are a little late to pick up good ideas (like the metric system lol) but this concerns people lives, but then again what do nation states care for the lives of their citizens. War is peace.

  • You're conjecture lacks a strong factual foundation, you seem to dismiss the fact that USA remains one of the only western cultures without public health-care.

  • "Government-mandated procedures will, etc...care" This is precisely the situation as it exists now, under private insurance companies. In fact, the likelihood is exactly the reverse of what you suggest. Under privatized insurance, patients are denied vital procedures all the time. I speak from experience. Insurance companies constantly dictate who gets to live. And it all based on their profits. Sorry but your arguments are pure crap.

  • We need to demand that our elected officials loose their health care benefits if they think the "free market " system works so well. We pay for those crooks who take money from health insurance companies and big pharma. More people in the USA die from lack of health care(due to rationing because they can't afford care), that die in our present wars(that only benefit many of our big corporations).

If single payer was on the table Max would not be able to line his pockets w/ money.
