Playing Putt-Putt made me have expectations that all cars have magical shelves embedded in the dash that can store objects that are proportionally larger than the expected size of the dash.

I was confused when my parents finally allowed me to sit in the front seat to learn that it was impossible to fit a 50 lb brown labrador puppy into ten-by-ten inch glove compartment.

It was awkward between me and Rolly from that day on.

Lemme guess, you used the MS-DOS version? I played this same version for my "Let's Play" video of the game, but I played it on ScummVM on Mac OS X, and the MIDI music tracks sounded a bit more "simplified" (I uploaded those tracks as well). Sounds like you used an actual Windows machine running DOSbox or something similar.
