I don't think you have to have experienced overwhelming pain like that to understand this song. I have struggled through many thing in my life and this song has helped me. This was one of the first songs I ever listened to that actually brought me to tears.
The song was written about a night when he and Ryan were in high school. They did acid with some girls and then spent the night at the home of one of the girls. The girls parents made the boys sleep downstairs and the girls sleep upstairs. The song was written about that night as Justin layed there tripping and looking around at the objects in the room (i.e. a portrait of Jesus) and listening to the tick tock of the clock and wishing he could be upstairs with the girl.

Show me a single, Professional, scientific study that has shown that there is long term brain damage caused by weed and I will drop my bong and never touch the thing again in my life (granted I will move on to blunts). There simply is none, and if you are going to give me some government crap just give up now, their research simply coincides with their Drug Free America campaign. I don't think you have to have experienced overwhelming pain like that to understand this song. I have struggled through many thing in my life and this song has helped me. This was one of the first songs I ever listened to that actually brought me to tears.

The song was written about a night when he and Ryan were in high school. They did acid with some girls and then spent the night at the home of one of the girls. The girls parents made the boys sleep downstairs and the girls sleep upstairs. The song was written about that night as Justin layed there tripping and looking around at the objects in the room (i.e. a portrait of Jesus) and listening to the tick tock of the clock and wishing he could be upstairs with the girl.
