  • Not the best video, but it helped and was able to get the HD replaced. THANKS!

  • Hi I replaced my hard drive with one I already had in another laptop when I turn it on all it does is shows a black screen saying windows is loading files, is that suppose to happen if not what should I do?

  • @ceci0729 You need to use recovery media for the computer that you placed that hard drive in.

  • You helped me. Everyone else is just to critical, your video serves its purpose.

  • Your vid is popular on Quito

  • Thanks great video. I'm glad you mentioned using the right screwdriver. I replaced a cd drive in a laptop recently and the owner had used the wrong screwdriver and had wrecked the screwhead and it was really hard getting the screw out.

  • This video went viral on Pakistan

  • All the negative people have never made a video. Mom came into the basement and they had to put something else on the screen. Just keep producing and take what helps from the comments. The haters will still be in the basement hating as you produce your 20th or 100th video.

  • You should retitle this vid, "How to clumsily open a cardboard box."

  • You seemed nervous

  • Thisis the worst install video in the world. Why spend 90 sec showing us how to take the drive out of the box ? Why not show the whole back of the laptop so we can see where the panels are ? did you preview this before you osted it ? Atrocious.

  • @candidarlf

dont say it. i like this video ; )

  • hey man i need to ask you if i can replace my 5400 RPM hard disk of my qosmio note book with an 7200 RMP one????? will it enhance gaming and make it faster???

  • @gameraime It might. Depends on specs of yor notebook and yeah you can

  • You take too much time opening that package................

  • seagate is the best!

  • Hello I was wondering what happens if I can't find my original disc for my laptop what should I do now? I took to a comuter shop and they told me that my hard drive was bad and they don't have the windows 7 home premium version so I will have to find someone that has it or buy a new one. I have my original product key attached to the bottom of my laptop but don't know what to do first. I'm going to pick up my laptop today and install my hard drive my self.

  • @Fiestychick36 Easy! All you have to do is call Toshiba and buy a recovery Media from them for like $20

  • @totallytechstuff if I change the hard drive do I need to reinstall the windows and What do I need to upgrade to make it faster?

  • @fernandojavier08 You will need to reinstall a factory image. You can call TOSHIBA and buy recovery media. And you can add some memory (RAM) to make it faster.

  • @totallytechstuff What are you talking about? RAM don't make the computer faster. CPU does. Also when you get a new hard drive you got to buy a new windows unless you got your old windows cd. You can't get a recovery media cause there's nothing to recover. Unless he some how takes the windows from his old hard drive and puts it on a disk and installs it to his new hard drive.

  • @bigcasey1995

    1) If you have for example 3.0 Hgz CPU but only have one GB of RAM, the computer is still gonna be slow. Think of it as of a line in a store. You have one cash register and it works fast but it has long line of people. The store space only fits one register. But if a store space is larger, it can fit 2 or 3 cash registers which will make lines smaller and cause faster service. Same with the computer systems.

  • @totallytechstuff ok but still you can't get your operating system back with a new hard drive because the coa was saved on the old hard drive and a recovery disk won't work cause there's nothing to recover on a new hard drive.

  • @bigcasey1995 Yes you can. You get recovery media from a company that made your computer.

  • @totallytechstuff Dude how is that possible? Your hard drive is new so that means there's no old os on it so it can't be brought back. If you mean you can buy a windows disk from the company then maybe but not for no 20 bucks. Now if your lucky you could use your old coa sticker IF some how the coa was saved on ram or something which i don't even think is possible.

  • @bigcasey1995 I'll make you a video explaining.

  • @bigcasey1995 Dude, almost every replacement hard drive comes with drive mirroring software that will transfer the OS from the old drive to the new one.

  • @totallytechstuff Good analogy.

  • what kinda screw driver is that??

  • did you ever get to make part 2? i'm waiting with a screwdriver in my hand

  • I feel sorry for the customer

  • Tape Vs Sissiors Who will triumph

  • oh jesus, 35 seconds to open the seal. dude you shouldn't be making these video's.

  • Title of video should be Downs Syndrome Guy Opens box

  • Good lord watching this is tedious as shit! Open the freaking box PRIOR to making a "tutorial" video.

  • iss there a certain ram to hardrive memory ratio that should be followed? for ex if i have 2gb of ram it can work with 160gb of hard drive memory or does there have to be more harddrive memory?

  • @scoobydoofeen RAM doesn't matter.

  • When I turn on my toshiba satellite c655 a black screen comes up after the toshiba screen that says: intel undi, OCR-2.0 (build 083) copyright (c) 1997-2000 intel corporation

For atheros pcie Ethernet controller v2.0.1.9(12/15/09)

    Check cable connection!

    Pxe-m0f: exiting intel pxe rom.

No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

Do you think this means that my hard drive has failed and would replacing it and installing the restore disks fix the computer?

    I've called toshiba an

  • @JTuesday777 Yes! Replace the hard drive and reinstall factory image.

  • @JTuesday777 DUDE, Exact same with me!

I love you. You asked a question I was going to and he answered it!

WOOHOO. But wait.. How much does a decent Hardrive Cost and what kind of memory size should I get?

    500gb?

  • @Bored4Minecraft You can get whatever size suits your needs. I have a cheap laptop that I will be replacing with something better soon anyways so I just got a cheap 30$ 120GB hard drive from eBay. Just make sure that the drive is IDA or SATA (according to what your current hard drive is) and a 2.5inch drive and not a 3.5 (for desktops). I used the "how to replace the hard drive on a toshiba laptop" video by johndharvey . It was very helpful. I replaced the drive and no more problems.

  • @JTuesday777 then the rest should be kosher since you already have a product key (which is your license and right to use that software on the computer no matter what hard drive you've replaced on it.

  • @JTuesday777 Thank Allot man!

Guess there are nice people on the internet, You sir are amazing.

Thanks for all the help and I'll take it all on board, Thankfully I have found the Recovery Discs I actually kept the box and found it up in the attic.

  • @Bored4Minecraft I'm a girl by the way, that's like the 10th time you've assumed that I'm a guy, sexist! LOL :P

  • @JTuesday777 Sorry!

I never knew, You never told me. Unfair.

    Fine, You Madam are amazing.

  • @Bored4Minecraft Oh yea I forgot to mention also that you will need a VERY small set of screwdrivers if you don't already have some. Your normal screwdrivers wont work for the very small screws in the hard drive as they are too big. I got a set on Amazon for less than 10 bucks plus I have them for future use so no big issue. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me. I'm definately no expert but it seems we both have (had) the same problem so I'll do what I can to help you out.

  • @JTuesday777 OH Didn't see the other 2 comments, Thanks allot man. I know about the screws it's Torc 10 Pro Screw drivers I need. Luckily one of my closest friends deals with stuff like this, he has all the things I need he's going to help me get the right HDD and install it for me. The only thing I'm worrying about is the Factory Settings. I'm no expert at computer's seeing as I am only 16 like normal teenagers do they don't think about keeping the box. Once opened the box is thrown out.. Damn.

  • @Bored4Minecraft Well if your friend knows a lot about computers or fixes computers for a living then they should definately know all about replacing a hard drive (I mean if a tech-idiot like me can do it then I'm pretty sure a pro can LOL) I'm worried that you may be doing it yourself for no reason though? If you're under warranty you don't need any papers or anything to get your comp fixed for free. They will even pay for shipping both ways. But if you're set on doing it yourself then...

  • @JTuesday777 .....if you're set on doing it yourself or having your friend do it then as long as you have the LICENSE sticker still, which should be under your laptop and multi-colored. with the PRODUCT KEY on it, then it should be easy or cheap to get Toshiba to send you a set of recovery discs. They really only want to make sure that you bought the software at some point (and you did, with your computer) so that product key is proof of it so as long as you can get the software on a disc..

  • @Bored4Minecraft ONE MORE THING LOL. Remember that in any case, I hope you have the recovery discs for your laptop as after you replace the hard drive you will need to restore the software on it back to factory condition. I'm afraid that you will not be able to (to my knowledge) retrieve the data on your failed drive but the good part is that if you have your restore discs then it should not cost you more than 40 bux minimum to fix your issue as a replacement of the drive will fix the laptop.

  • @JTuesday777 Fuck Nuggets, I don't have the recovery discs. I'm under warranty and I've lost all of that as well.

I've looked into it in more depth and a decent one costs £26.00 which is not bad, but is it essential I get factory settings back because I don't have the recovery discs anymore..

  • why does everyone have to announce the first time they make a video? just get along with it. skip to 3:13 and on thats all you need.

  • Comment removed

  • a box opening course would be helpful

  • @jellybeen62 this video made me laugh more than anything... "erm...urm....ahmm.....i have to unscrew the screw!"

  • Thanks a lot for this video , i wait the part 2.....

  • All the other online tutorials say to remove the battery and unplug the machine first. Important step because a charge running through the computer could cause damage.

  • @AlienComedian True! Thanks!

  • Thanks you very much for taking the time to share such educational step by step video with us. Best buy wanted to charge me $ 50 to remove and then install new hard drive on my toshiba note book. You video make it look so easy that i'm willing to take that chance lol. Thanks again for your uploading this video i feel like i had saved 50 bucks already :))

  • thanks for the vid i didnt realize it was so easy

i would like to upgrade to an SSD for my toshiba laptop
