This game was so ahead of its time when it was released its hard to think it was over ten years ago I think I was playing it on windows 98 its shame they never continued with it and made an updated version because using this game as a base combined with todays technology you would have one amazing game

since my joystick is done wore out and gone, i needed a way to play me fighter games. well just the other day i cranked this bute of a bomber sim up and the keyboard of course was of no use to fly, so with some programs on the web i'm useing my PS3 controller for it. KICKASS!

U know now that i,ve been a costom to this game there is one downside i don't like. Its the ghost planes, since 6 planes ever shoot or bomb, and the others are just for eye candy. All should be involed, not just for the ride

thats ridiculous.. ppl who buy IL-2 have bought B-17 II as well, and any other serious flight sim. , since there are so few around.

If there is anyone to be blamed for Mighty Eighth's "failure", is the producing company itself, for such stupid and narrow-minded ideas (very limited flexibility / choices, NO multiplayer ).

I play IL2 1946 and I still play the Mighty 8th. That game still holds up pretty decent IMO. If I wanna fly fighters and ground attack I play IL2 but I play Mighty 8th for the best perceptive on managing a bomber crew. I jump around allot because I got a big collection of WWII games. Subs ships tanks planes infantry you name it. Keeps things interesting. When a new one comes out it comes out but till then I got lots of sims to play.

il2 is a very good game but in this game u can catch the drama between both sides what makes it so real this is the most realistic game sim i ever played im making a part two so keep your eyes open

yea...took a while for me to check it out....you have to do a full setup on joystick controls and then while in game click M to do something each time you move to a different position

IL-2 is great but it does not simulate the human aspects as well as Mighty Eighth. You really get attached to you guys and hearing them scream that they can't feel their legs is chilling. I can't remember a game that shows that amount of emotion in a sim.

Damn right man, this sim was WAY underrated and difficult, so the masses predictabily turned to IL-2.

No it is not. The so called 'realism' is nothing more then 1 flight model template, which is slighty modifyed to 'resemble' other aircraft... There is no dynamic flight model or anyting, just aircraft on rails. And don't even start on IL-2 bombing, ffs man I bet you don't even played this one. The engine start-up sequence alone outclasses IL-2. Addes to that, the damage model, thunderous soundeffects and what more.
