It's dumb little everyday suburban mother like this who goes to work everyday and simply 'does her job' I'm not responsible for the later repercussions. I work for a record label and see this EVERY DAY, idiots who complain about the state advertising and then do feed it with their hard work EVERY DAY.
There is a simple solution, once your child asks you to purchase something respond to your child with a "no" and if he/she continues to whine, punch them in the face. See if they ask for anything EVER again!
Thanks for posting this - for some odd reason, parents seem to blindly accept child advertising as 'a part of our culture'. I maintain it is child abuse because kids cannot make informed decisions about their consumer habits. I'm not even a parent but I look at parents being nagged to buy things and it totally annoys me. Parents should decide what their children would most appreciate and benefit from materially.
