Through a whole lot of Research, with alot of Time and Prayer, by both of us known as good researchers, and my hubby known for his research and speaking engagments at major Universities, gatherings and churches, I think I may have found my maternal Mother. I love My MOM, WOW! This Makes my heart So Glad that Her Amazing Voice is still SOO Very Popular!
@SeekTruthNOW As an adopted child, I've missed the chance of knowing Her, & I truly Wish I could've known Her, as she was forced to give me up. I know if She were alive today, she would feel and truly*say the same for me, her only child and daughter... There are 2-songs she was able to sing to me (her baby) "Maybe",,, & especially "My Farewell". My mom was clever enough and strong-willed enough, to sneak these songs past her manager.
@SeekTruthNOW I know that I will someday soon see Her in Heaven, and the wounds this old-world has left upon both our souls, will all be healed and we'll be whole, by Heaven's Light of unity within Love, and alas we'll be Free. I too love to Sing; it must be a dna*thing! I'm so happy about all these (still) millions of fans of Her's!! And I can only pray that they'll love Freedom, as much as I know we both do...
@SeekTruthNOW And if thee love for truth be found in them, they will meet us both upon that shore of Glory, and hear the 2 of us singing Amazing Grace, just for them. I'll reveal in the day, and patiently wait, for that precious meeting, so very long awaited, by the both of Us. Thank Yah!
@SeekTruthNOW What-A-Day, for all of us children & parents, to finally be with our beloved ones, and share together how we've learned to trust in Yahweh, for the Arrival of this forever mending day. HE Can Never Fail, for He Has A Father's Heart too, and for Us`All!!! Sincerely, Autumn Joplin Yssachar ;-)
just left a funeral ...bocion .. was the most wonderful guy in earth love him as i love this song , he was only 54 an heart attack he kill him within seconds............ he was was not drinking , not eating much he was a gardener he was unique ........ so what the hell , Janis said ....get you while you can
Jesus, this song breaks my heart. God bless Janis, wherever she is. I loved her as a 16 year old when she died and though I rarely hear her music anymore, this brilliant performance brings all those feelings back.
sometimes greatness can come out of horrible misery and wretchedness many of the rock and rollers were sick druggy types in Janis's case her fool parents and that awfull hick-cracker gas and propane stinky town full of human animals were to blame
her heroin abuse chased away a number of suitors bob neuwirth, kris kristofferson, and her fiance seth eastman who later went to prison for bank robbery probably trying to finance his long term heroin habit.
So so amazing...to all the men out there that appreciate Janis...thank u and god bless!!! I have always wanted a male friend i could hang and listen to Janis with without complaints. where are u???
I am a regular guy type with tht hippie-esque side that knows the type of music that comes from the soul. Just my opinion, but people like Gram Parsons, Duane Allman, Santana, Clapton,Skynyrd, etc., are fascinating because of their direction not because of where they ended up but because of where they were heading. Bon Scott and Stevie Ray had it. I guess I just feel the pain that they have felt or feel. Hendrix is a heart breaker, but Janis can make a big guy like me cry!!
Penta- Thanks for this great song. I am a rarity... not too many guys like me are Janis fans, but I am a diehard since about '70 when I was about 7-8! This song has always given me chills. She was so damned missunderstood!Peace to all!
mee too...! I am peruvian and the first time I listened to it I didn't speak english but now that I can well the message and feeling is the same than it was before. Music and magic proper of a Janis' song.
Why this wasn't on Cheap Thrills is BEYOND me. You should all go listen to outtakes like "Flower in the Sun" and "Misery'N". There some of the best songs she ever did and yet, mysteriously, they were left of Cheap Thrills..
I'm guessing that's because they fit more into the soul genre, which Janis loved, than the more rocked out sound of Big Brother. Ya think? Who knows. You'll notice she preogressed more toward a soul sound over time.

Janis Jopline, Jim Morrison, and Jimi Hendrix all died within like a year of each other at the age of 27.
I'm a huge Janis Joplin fan, and this is one of my fav Joplin songs.
