This is one of the few albums I still possess after 45 years of collecting, soley because of this ethereal classic. Rock and Roll Woman & Bluebird stand on their own merit, but I feel this song really made the album.
All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy peace and understanding for three bucks a hit. A generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers who never understood the essential old mystic fallacy of the acid culture. The desperate assumption that somebody, or at least some force, is tending the light at the end of the tunnel.
This is the very definition of inspiration, of fragile beauty, of eternity. Tears, regret, redemption, hope, you name it! THIS IS FUCKING ART!!! I got severly stoned one night and put the vinyl of this on and was fucking paralyzed. This compressed version doesn't do it justice. Peace y'all.
This has to be the most classy, graceful, even elegant song that the Springfield ever recorded.
I'm no Neil Young fan, but he really nailed this. Wisely, his voice isn't out front in the mix, and he makes liberal use of harmony vocals. You could make a case that this song should have been recorded by a group that specialized in perfect harmonies. You know, like the Hollies. ;-)
@SpartanOrDie They haven't recorded that song, but Allan Clarke said that their song "Wings" was inspired by the beauty of this song. And, in my opinion, they matched their inspiration.
This is the most beautiful man on the planet. I would love to meet him and talk or just sit and look into his emotions without words. My son Steely respects his music tremendously
Standing on the edge of FOREVER -- waiting for you to come back for me, My Darling and Eternal Love, Barbra. I pray and hope my wait isn't a long one. I miss you more than mere words could ever convey. You left me and this world too soon. We had only two years together. We made the very best of that time. I love you forevermore -- beyond space and time -- My Resplendent Wife, Barbra. Thank you, Neil Young and Buffalo Springfield!
@peterzang A million thanks. I hope things work out in the next world, as well. I've heard it said that we won't recognize our loved ones in Heaven. I pray and hope it isn't true. It won't be Heaven without My Barbra. Barbra is the only one who truly possesses the key to my heart-of-hearts. My world isn't the same without her.
Isnt it incredible?What a song.

So many modern retro wannabes wish they could bottle this vibe and sell it on bandcamp.
Sorry, fellas, talent and timeliness don't grow on trees, not even in brooklyn.

@StaightObserver Yes, and then YT would be down in a day. How else could they have this stage for all of us to spout off or observe?

I'd be a happy man if this song would be deemed the birth-life of postrock and ambient type music; but I dont' think it has happened yet :(

@SpartanOrDie They could have never written this song. Neil Young is one greatest songwriters ever. None of the Hollies are.
