@cinnamon69lesbico Their level being *lying*? No. The many you can't convince with the truth, you can't convince with lies or insults, either, and the few you can convince with the truth, you may be able to convince more easily with lies, but you'll never convince with insults. The term is Tea Party. I know that Keith just loves to use the adolesent boy dirty word, but it is wrong. If he was confused about that, all he had to do was look at the clips he ran. One of them had, as a graphic on the screen: "Tea Party".
1st, at the age of 35 and being from UK, you really should not be talking like an 18 yr old surfer from SoCal. ("Dude"? And you want to be taken seriously?)
2nd, The members of the movement do not call themselves that, and have already "branded" themselves as Tea Partiers. The "re-branding" or "incorrect labeling" done by OUP notwithstanding.
1) I talk like I talk, you don't have to like it.
2) The members of the movement used the term teabag a lot more in the early days before the were mocked so much, and use teabags as their symbol - so what to they expect? And it's particularily apt, given that their main objective is to shove their sweaty ol' balls of corporate funded misinformation down our throats.
The members of the movement DID NOT refer to themselves by that moniker in the beginning or at other times. Perhaps if you lived here, you'd know that. The movement was a TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party on 4/15 (tax day) reminiscent of the Boston Tea Party protest from the 1700s. Even the clip KO used shows the graphic "Tea Party" in it. A teabag is a modern packaging of tea, and makes sense from the Tea Party perspective. You seem to be as immature as Keith.
Anyway the term has stuck so they might as well embrace it.
The sad side of all this is that the people who support this movement have been conned by the corporate propoganda machine to act against their own interests. They're usually completely misinformed about policy, still believe in death panels, and even think that 'czars' represent some kind of communist takeover.
The term has not stuck, except with you, Keith, and the rest of the MSNBC crowd.
You clearly have no knowledge of this movement based upon your comments. Well, no knowledge that was not supplied by MSNBC et al. Just in case you do, please explain:
1. Which corp prop machine conned these people?
2. What did it con them to do?
3. How do those interests work against self interest of Tea Partiers?
1) The entire health insurance industry. Americans For Prosperity for eg.
2) To fight for the interests of corporations and the rich.
3) Let's break this down - a) rich white people: ok, they probably benefit from letting other Americans suffer, b) poor white people: protesting against healthcare which might save their lives c) non-white people: hmmm, don't see many of them at TeaBag events do we?
4) Just look up 'teabaggers' on youtube for plenty of humorous examples, eg watch?v=zeN0JRFGPD0.
1. You don't believe these people reached own conclusions on own after research? Why? BTW, not all protests against Obamacare - began w/protest agains Stim Bill.
2. Freedom, limited gov't, controlled spending are in everyone's interest. That is the basis.
3. Again, what they want benefits all.
4. And those few respresent the whole? You don't suppose someone with an agenda sought the few out do you? Which would also explain why you don't see as many minorities as you require.
Watching Glenn Beck dn't constitute research - if they did a bit more research they wouldn't be so misinformed.
America obviously needs universal healthcare. The stimulus bill is Obama's effort to pull America out of the steaming pile of shit Bush left the economy in, I don't know whether it's the best solution but they type of hate filled language used by the protestors definitely doesn't contribute to the debate.
I don't require minorities, just pointing out that they are under represented.
Obviously they don't get ALL their info from GB, but the fact that he had his very own 912 protest and the placards at other ones along the lines of "thank god for Glen Beck" show that a huge number of these people are influenced by and trust this moron.
A minority is not by definition a small % of any group. There are 13.4% African Americans in the US, I haven't seen any tea party protests with anything like the more than 1 in 10 you'd expect if this was a cross section of American society.
Look up 912 on youtube and you'll see most of the results mention tea party in the description - it's all part of the same sack of manure.
I don't retract anything, most of these people are clearly influenced by the lies of GB and similar idiots, it doesn't mean they get all their information from them.
I'm not going to get into explaining all the reasons why GB is a moron, that would take to long and if you've watched his show it should be self evident.
There are similar concerns within the two groups (9*12 and Tea Party), but they are different. If YOU looked at the principles/values on the actual 9*12 site, you'd have a hard time call it "manure", but it is just easier to denegrate than reason, isn't it?
I have watched GB's show, which is why I've asked you why you believe him to be a moron and liar. Guess that's asking too much, huh?
There's plenty of serious criticism of Glenn Beck which makes it hard to believe anyone would trust him, but I think the recent South Park episode with Cartman as GB does a great job of exposing his tactics.
The principles are drivel. For example, "1) America Is Good" - buys into that blind patriotism Americans are afflicted with, and is totally meaningless. America as some good things about it and some bad things about it, like any other country. It does a lot of bad things in the world.
The point is that Glenn Beck isn't a person to be taken seriously, and the fat bloated meglomaniac idiot Eric Cartman is an ideal person to represent him.
You have yet to offer ANY facts or evidence to support your claims that Beck is a moron, and idiot, or that he should not be taken seriously. You just keep pounding that drum without facts to support.
BTW, Eric Cartman is NOT "an ideal person to represent him". Eric Cartman is a CARTOON character. Eric Cartman is NOT a person.
@InvestigatorDave Really? Eric Cartman is not a real person? Say it ain't so!!! lolz Glenn Beck IS an idiot, and anyone who does take him seriously needs to get their head checked. Call your shrink.
Rather than attack the man with ad hom attacks, and those who are in his audience, why not try to attack his arguments with facts? No question that it is harder to do, but it brings credibility to any comments you make. For instance:
1. Why is GB an idiot in your opinion?
2. Why does anyone who takes GB seriously need to "get their head checked"?
3. What makes you think I have a shrink, and why would I call him?
It's you that has a problem with logic and reading comprehension. I'm not saying that a minority IS a large percentage, but it CAN be a large percentage which is less than the majority. Look up the definition. I said there ARE NOT anywhere near 1 in 10 black people in those crowds (it's hard to find any).
MSNBC found one outside of a town hall meeting. He was carrying a legally owned and registered semi-auto rifle. They said there were dangerous white guys out there at the town hall meeting, all the while having the camera zoomed in on the rifle.
In fact, other camera angles provided by other networks showed the guy to be black. MSNBC kind fudged that "fact" too.
Still, how many minorities are required to give a movement legitimacy?
If it's the one I'm thinking of there was at least one white guy with a gun as well as the black guy. But what's one black guy with a gun got to do with overall representation of minorities?
I don't "require" any number of minorities, I'm just saying that if they're not present in numbers roughly proportional to society as a whole it's quite likely that the movement does not represent the interests of a cross section of society.
Do you know how things work in a republic such as the U.S.?
A candidate has to convince the majority of the voters in a state to vote for him. Then the candidate gets the seat, or delegates depending. The candidate does not necessarily have to convince any predetermined cross section --- just the majority of those who vote. This movement is a large group of people -- who vote. Whether they rep any predetermined cross section is immaterial. Mocking and ignoring them is political suicide.
I thought this was about what the people want, not about someone trying to get elected and giving the one finger salute to everyone who didn't vote for them.
The movement is to get politicians to behave appropriately and to act on the will of the people. To represent the people. These are motivated people, and for the most part, they are voters. The politicians will heed their wishes, or will lose at the polls next time around. What did you think was going on here? How naive are you?
I understand that, but I can only hope that politicians realise that these people don't represent the general views of the electorate, many of whom abhor what the teabaggers are doing & also vote.
If these people command a majority of the electorate, then they most certainly DO represent the general views fo the electorate.
Only time will tell if the Tea Partiers and other like groups will muster the power to effect elections in 2010 and 2012. They have demonstrated a bit of success in the 11/09 elections.
BTW, what is it the Tea Partiers are doing that others would "abhor"? I mean, that's strong language. What exactly are they doing that is abhorrent?
Well, what the fuck was he doing at a town hall meeting with a gun? There are only two possibilities, he was either too fucking stupid to realize why this was not looked kindly on, or he was up to no good.
I don't know why the man (which man does not matter, although you did not specify) was at the town hall meeting with a legally registered weapon which he was permitted to carry. There are more than 2 possible reasons, contrary to your declaration otherwise, but I'm not aware that anyone asked him why. Did anyone? What did he say? (Or do YOU not know either, and you're just making up the 2 possible reasons?)
I was just joking, Chill out. I personally take MY automatic rifle EVERYWHERE that I go, you never know when it may come in handy, like say a marauding gang of Mongolian neo-barbarians comes to disturb the neighborhood with their superior horseback skillz. lolz Yeah, because carrying a gun around a political meeting in the US is just cool, no way he could have any motives of intimidation or anything. Get serious dave.
So you've decided to discuss the man with the rifle. OK. You did not specify before. It was an automatic rifle? You can tell by looking? If it is an automatic, it would be illegal. I hope the authorities were notified. As to why he was carrying this weapon, neither you nor I know. You have now posited 3 reasons (despite your original comments saying "there are only two") as to why he did it. Why speculate? To what end?
Wow, you really do lack in basic reading skills. 1. I said I take MY automatic rifle, didn't say his was, it was part of a sarcastic remark. 2. A motive of intimidation would fall under "up to no good" now wouldn't it? Do pay attention.
OK, so in an effort to be sarcastic, you compared your actions to that of the man with the rifle -- except you don't have the same weapon as he does? Or do you? Or who the heck cares? Face it: you stepped in it here.
I suppose intimidation could fall under the general category of "up to no good", but since you STILL don't know his motivation, you are still making stuff up. Why? To what end?
You are focusing on this unimportant part because you have no other valid point. Actually looking at it he had a semi-auto. Big fucking deal The point is there is no reason to show up at a political event with a gun, unless one is just stupid or up to no good.
ACCORDING TO YOU: This is unimportant (now that you can't prove it's auto).
ACCORDING TO YOU: There is no reason to show up at a political event with a gun -- except for 2 reasons.
ACCORDING TO YOU: The man is stupid or up to no good.
Wouldn't it be better to ask the guy why he was there with a weapon, and get his answer, than to just leave to motivation UP TO YOU? (Especially given your track record on accuracy so far.)
Good job at providing a brilliant example of what a straw man fallacy is, good on you. Now
According to me: I never said he had an automatic
According to me: There are only two possible reasons why he would show up to a town hall meeting with a gun, my reasons based on logic, a concept with with you seem unfamiliar.
According to me: There is no way for me to ask said individual therefore I will asses the situation with logic.
Also, if you think my assessment is inaccurate, then please give me some reasons why, and alternative ideas as to why he would do this. If your logic makes sense, then I will admit my assessment was wrong. I am after all intellectually honest.
The comparison btwn you and your automatic and he and his rifle were inescapable. I do, however, admire your attempts at escaping tho.
I'm very logical, and therefore realize there could be many reasons why he was there with a gun. You can only see 2 possibilities. Whose logic is stilted here?
There is no way for ME to ask him either, but I'm not going to limit the # of possibilities for his behavior like you do. He would know better than you or I.
If it was automatic and he had a license to carry it.... NOPE! It would be very legal as it is licensed to him.
We need to shut down this nation's highway system with clunker cars, farming machinery, and parked 18 wheel tractor trailers so we can starve you LIBtards and force you to eat your zoo animals... you are already shooting, thugging, and raping each other unabated why not toss starvation on top of it so the rest of the world can see what inner city gang member animals act like?
While you're at it, do you have any evidence that all these people believe in death panels? That there is not going to be rationing of care in Obamacare? Evidence that these people think "czars" are a communist takeover? Evidence that Van Jones wasn't an actual Communist (he did declare himself such).
Name calling? You resort to name calling? Is that the way in which you engage in debate? Do you find that you convince people of your point of view very often with that tactic?
Or are you like Keith, and just resort to: When you can't refute the facts, attack the speaker.

InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Watching Glenn Beck dn't constitute research - if they did a bit more research they wouldn't be so misinformed.
America obviously needs universal healthcare. The stimulus bill is Obama's effort to pull America out of the steaming pile of shit Bush left the economy in, I don't know whether it's the best solution but they type of hate filled language used by the protestors definitely doesn't contribute to the debate.
I don't require minorities, just pointing out that they are under represented.
bollo3000 2 years ago
What evidence do you have that they get all their info from GB?
What evidence do you have that they are misinformed? Especially relative to their reasons for protesting.
Why does the U.S. "need" Obamacare?
Obama's effort with StimBill was a failure, or do you see it as a success? We're worse now than when Obama took over.
Most protestor language not hate-filled.
Minorities, BY DEFINITION, are small % of any group, bollo.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Obviously they don't get ALL their info from GB, but the fact that he had his very own 912 protest and the placards at other ones along the lines of "thank god for Glen Beck" show that a huge number of these people are influenced by and trust this moron.
A minority is not by definition a small % of any group. There are 13.4% African Americans in the US, I haven't seen any tea party protests with anything like the more than 1 in 10 you'd expect if this was a cross section of American society.
bollo3000 2 years ago
You seem to be confusing the GB 9*12 event with the Tea Parties. Can you pick just one for discussion?
So you now retract that they do their research by watching GB? And just why is he a "moron"?
Are you arguing that a minority is a large % of any group? That defies logic. And BTW, 1 in 10 is 10%. Which is nearly 13%. So what's your beef?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Look up 912 on youtube and you'll see most of the results mention tea party in the description - it's all part of the same sack of manure.
I don't retract anything, most of these people are clearly influenced by the lies of GB and similar idiots, it doesn't mean they get all their information from them.
I'm not going to get into explaining all the reasons why GB is a moron, that would take to long and if you've watched his show it should be self evident.
bollo3000 2 years ago
There are similar concerns within the two groups (9*12 and Tea Party), but they are different. If YOU looked at the principles/values on the actual 9*12 site, you'd have a hard time call it "manure", but it is just easier to denegrate than reason, isn't it?
I have watched GB's show, which is why I've asked you why you believe him to be a moron and liar. Guess that's asking too much, huh?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
There's plenty of serious criticism of Glenn Beck which makes it hard to believe anyone would trust him, but I think the recent South Park episode with Cartman as GB does a great job of exposing his tactics.
The principles are drivel. For example, "1) America Is Good" - buys into that blind patriotism Americans are afflicted with, and is totally meaningless. America as some good things about it and some bad things about it, like any other country. It does a lot of bad things in the world.
bollo3000 2 years ago
And to think I was having a serious debate with a reasonable person. Then, you cite your source of information regarding Glenn Beck as "South Park".
Come back when you have some real information and facts to back up your claims.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
The point is that Glenn Beck isn't a person to be taken seriously, and the fat bloated meglomaniac idiot Eric Cartman is an ideal person to represent him.
bollo3000 2 years ago 2
You have yet to offer ANY facts or evidence to support your claims that Beck is a moron, and idiot, or that he should not be taken seriously. You just keep pounding that drum without facts to support.
BTW, Eric Cartman is NOT "an ideal person to represent him". Eric Cartman is a CARTOON character. Eric Cartman is NOT a person.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
@InvestigatorDave Really? Eric Cartman is not a real person? Say it ain't so!!! lolz Glenn Beck IS an idiot, and anyone who does take him seriously needs to get their head checked. Call your shrink.
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
Rather than attack the man with ad hom attacks, and those who are in his audience, why not try to attack his arguments with facts? No question that it is harder to do, but it brings credibility to any comments you make. For instance:
1. Why is GB an idiot in your opinion?
2. Why does anyone who takes GB seriously need to "get their head checked"?
3. What makes you think I have a shrink, and why would I call him?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
It's you that has a problem with logic and reading comprehension. I'm not saying that a minority IS a large percentage, but it CAN be a large percentage which is less than the majority. Look up the definition. I said there ARE NOT anywhere near 1 in 10 black people in those crowds (it's hard to find any).
bollo3000 2 years ago
MSNBC found one outside of a town hall meeting. He was carrying a legally owned and registered semi-auto rifle. They said there were dangerous white guys out there at the town hall meeting, all the while having the camera zoomed in on the rifle.
In fact, other camera angles provided by other networks showed the guy to be black. MSNBC kind fudged that "fact" too.
Still, how many minorities are required to give a movement legitimacy?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
If it's the one I'm thinking of there was at least one white guy with a gun as well as the black guy. But what's one black guy with a gun got to do with overall representation of minorities?
I don't "require" any number of minorities, I'm just saying that if they're not present in numbers roughly proportional to society as a whole it's quite likely that the movement does not represent the interests of a cross section of society.
bollo3000 2 years ago
Do you know how things work in a republic such as the U.S.?
A candidate has to convince the majority of the voters in a state to vote for him. Then the candidate gets the seat, or delegates depending. The candidate does not necessarily have to convince any predetermined cross section --- just the majority of those who vote. This movement is a large group of people -- who vote. Whether they rep any predetermined cross section is immaterial. Mocking and ignoring them is political suicide.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
I thought this was about what the people want, not about someone trying to get elected and giving the one finger salute to everyone who didn't vote for them.
bollo3000 2 years ago
Hey genius:
The movement is to get politicians to behave appropriately and to act on the will of the people. To represent the people. These are motivated people, and for the most part, they are voters. The politicians will heed their wishes, or will lose at the polls next time around. What did you think was going on here? How naive are you?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
I understand that, but I can only hope that politicians realise that these people don't represent the general views of the electorate, many of whom abhor what the teabaggers are doing & also vote.
bollo3000 2 years ago
If these people command a majority of the electorate, then they most certainly DO represent the general views fo the electorate.
Only time will tell if the Tea Partiers and other like groups will muster the power to effect elections in 2010 and 2012. They have demonstrated a bit of success in the 11/09 elections.
BTW, what is it the Tea Partiers are doing that others would "abhor"? I mean, that's strong language. What exactly are they doing that is abhorrent?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Well, what the fuck was he doing at a town hall meeting with a gun? There are only two possibilities, he was either too fucking stupid to realize why this was not looked kindly on, or he was up to no good.
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
I don't know why the man (which man does not matter, although you did not specify) was at the town hall meeting with a legally registered weapon which he was permitted to carry. There are more than 2 possible reasons, contrary to your declaration otherwise, but I'm not aware that anyone asked him why. Did anyone? What did he say? (Or do YOU not know either, and you're just making up the 2 possible reasons?)
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
I was just joking, Chill out. I personally take MY automatic rifle EVERYWHERE that I go, you never know when it may come in handy, like say a marauding gang of Mongolian neo-barbarians comes to disturb the neighborhood with their superior horseback skillz. lolz Yeah, because carrying a gun around a political meeting in the US is just cool, no way he could have any motives of intimidation or anything. Get serious dave.
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
So you've decided to discuss the man with the rifle. OK. You did not specify before. It was an automatic rifle? You can tell by looking? If it is an automatic, it would be illegal. I hope the authorities were notified. As to why he was carrying this weapon, neither you nor I know. You have now posited 3 reasons (despite your original comments saying "there are only two") as to why he did it. Why speculate? To what end?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Wow, you really do lack in basic reading skills. 1. I said I take MY automatic rifle, didn't say his was, it was part of a sarcastic remark. 2. A motive of intimidation would fall under "up to no good" now wouldn't it? Do pay attention.
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
OK, so in an effort to be sarcastic, you compared your actions to that of the man with the rifle -- except you don't have the same weapon as he does? Or do you? Or who the heck cares? Face it: you stepped in it here.
I suppose intimidation could fall under the general category of "up to no good", but since you STILL don't know his motivation, you are still making stuff up. Why? To what end?
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
You are focusing on this unimportant part because you have no other valid point. Actually looking at it he had a semi-auto. Big fucking deal The point is there is no reason to show up at a political event with a gun, unless one is just stupid or up to no good.
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
ACCORDING TO YOU: This is unimportant (now that you can't prove it's auto).
ACCORDING TO YOU: There is no reason to show up at a political event with a gun -- except for 2 reasons.
ACCORDING TO YOU: The man is stupid or up to no good.
Wouldn't it be better to ask the guy why he was there with a weapon, and get his answer, than to just leave to motivation UP TO YOU? (Especially given your track record on accuracy so far.)
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
Good job at providing a brilliant example of what a straw man fallacy is, good on you. Now
According to me: I never said he had an automatic
According to me: There are only two possible reasons why he would show up to a town hall meeting with a gun, my reasons based on logic, a concept with with you seem unfamiliar.
According to me: There is no way for me to ask said individual therefore I will asses the situation with logic.
I have said nothing inaccurate. Continued
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
Also, if you think my assessment is inaccurate, then please give me some reasons why, and alternative ideas as to why he would do this. If your logic makes sense, then I will admit my assessment was wrong. I am after all intellectually honest.
ninjapirate0507 2 years ago
Why he MAY have done it:
1. Your two possibilities
2. He is legally able to do so, and does so routinely.
3. He is legally able to do so, and did so that day for reasons known only to him.
4. He was making a protest regarding the 2nd amendment
5. He wanted to protect himself from a beating like that given to another protester handing out flags by a guy in an SEIU shirt (belive in St. Louis).
There are a few. The list could be endless. Still, I'm willing to accept more than 2 reasons.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
No straw man here.
InvestigatorDave 2 years ago
If it was automatic and he had a license to carry it.... NOPE! It would be very legal as it is licensed to him.
We need to shut down this nation's highway system with clunker cars, farming machinery, and parked 18 wheel tractor trailers so we can starve you LIBtards and force you to eat your zoo animals... you are already shooting, thugging, and raping each other unabated why not toss starvation on top of it so the rest of the world can see what inner city gang member animals act like?
