I was at a friend's house in BC years ago, and there was a dude sitting in a chair, intensely carving something. After a few minutes he jumped up, pulled out a stamp pad and ran around the room stamping the walls with what he carved... little red SYL logos everywhere, lol. I didn't realize until I saw his face, just who this madman was... Devin. He had been carving a potato into an SYL stamp. First time I ever met him, and definitely one of the coolest stories I'll ever have.

Sometimes I scratch my head. The fans who like only SYL and act like Devin has abandoned them in his solo work. Devins work is varied and wonderful. If you only painted in yellow and red how much art can you derive from that. Devin has said that he felt trapped by the music in SYL at the end. That he was only going through the motions in a sense. This stuff is real and breathinbg in its own way. SYL is wonderful but was only a phase for Dev.
