Yes DLR is brilliant and will always be the frontman for VH. But Sammy is a brilliant singer. But I have to say that VH would never have made it without DLR. Eddie was the genious but DLR did more to change the face of Rock n Roll. Let us just leave it up to those two great guys
@M13FKU -Eddie only asked Dave to join the band as he had a PA to rent in 1973. Ed did not rate DLR at first. Gene Simmons only funded VH's demos as he wanted to poach EVH to join Kiss. They are back together now. I am only pissed off as Ed has put his kid on Bass and fallen out with Mike. I do not think that Wolfie can do the vocal harmonies that Mike did, I saw VH in 1984 at the Donnington rock festival and Mike sang the set when DLR was jumping around posing, bad crack, get Mike back

Man, I remember this tour. After seeing him on the Eat 'Em And Smile tour, I didn't think he could top himself. But this tour was over the top! I don't mind early Van Halen, but to be honest Roth never was much of a singer or songwriter..
I think this kinda thing undid a lot of the hard work of bands like Led Zep, Sabbath & Deep purple, those guys were musicians, while the 80's stuff seemed to be more about looking good for MTV..
The 60's-70's stuff was against the establishment..

I remember two things about this video when I was a kid: I wanted to rock climb after seeing it and I thought wearing a Quiksilver surfing suit would be the coolest thing I could rock in public.

I think this kinda thing undid a lot of the hard work of bands like Led Zep, Sabbath & Deep purple, those guys were musicians, while the 80's stuff seemed to be more about looking good for MTV..
The 60's-70's stuff was against the establishment..

Hagar is NOT a good songwriter......he wrote lyrics like "only time will tell if we stand the test of time" and "she put cream in my coffee, butter on my biscuit, and cherry on my banana"......better lyrics could have been written by a 10-yr. old retard! Dave's lyrics were humorous and witty and they still entertain 25 yrs. later.

two different guitarists, fact is dave wanted him to sound like eddie on this album the vh formula sells records! vanhalens more speedy- blues with feeling, vai is faster but for me theres no feeling there!took cheese to a whole new level alongside malmsteen!
