@DGTelevsionNetwork went into the my computer thingy that tells you about the hardware and software, and it said 704mb of ram. im getting rid of the computer now, i tookk the hard drive out, and now im going to recycle it.
Even if your computer is running a 64 bit OS with 16 Gb of ram today's max virtual addressing limit is still only 48 bits! So unless you have some serious hardware powering a whole damn skyscraper a computer will only ever use about 3 gigs of that ram. So don't waste to much money pounding in extra ram your hardware can't even use.
@B1gHe4d I do agree with you more is almost always better! what I was trying to say though is if you have allot of ram make sure your operating system can use it all. for example windows XP is a 64bit OS and can't possibly use anymore than about 3.1 Gigs of ram.
lol i have 512 and it runs everything just fine. i found my computer(s) at my local computer dump and fixed the, they work just fine. no need to spend 30000000000$ for a new computer when all i do is clean it and get ubuntu or some other distro on it.
Video moves too fast, and the guy's meaty hand blocks the view too much. If you're going to make a "how to" video, it should be done with 'those who have no clue' in mind.
I have the EXACT unit and it came with only 256k of ram...I upgraded it with two 512 mb sticks of pc133 from centon and it worked perfectly. The computer is really quite fast even on boot..only takes just over a minute to use internet...considering this unit is a decade old that is amazing...of course since i had it from new it has been maintained well and I have kept the registry in good condition and only had one minor virus that was removed in 2006 never causing any serious problems...
I have a slow computer with only 1 GB ram. And my brother has a computer almost the same as my computer (not 100 procent the same parts i think), but he dont want to have the computer so he is selling it to me. Most likely wont get a reply as nobody posts replys on this video, but give it a try... So i got ddr3 ram that runs at 9-9-9-24 latency and speed of 1333mhz. If I buy same speed, but latency of 8-8-8-21, does that mean the one I buy will go upto 9-9-9-24 when used together? Also... is it dumb to buy faster latency ram and use them with slow latency ram?
I have an HP with 512mb of Ram with only two slot both being used. Now I would now want to upgrade to 1GB, can I install a 512mb and keep the 256mb memory as well?
@GingerNuts99 No, you're obv are going to have to take out the 256mb ram already in there in order to put in another 512mb of ram to make it 1gb considering you only have 2 slots.

About the only thing that piece of shit is good for is if it were being used to prop something else up, or as a doorstop. Custom building is the way to go, not the store bought pre-built crap. HP can go choke on a fat dick and fuck off.
Remember when Computers with 64 MBs of Memory were like 3 grand? LOL esp laptops,,,64 mbs and 3500.00 dollars,, now you can own a 6 gig for around 800.00 LOL

Question: I have a compaq presario and it has 512mb of ram and the ram cards are dimms. Can those rams be taken out and replaced with larger ram cards without losing any of my personal files and data?
Yes sir you can replace those and not lose your files. Your files are stored on your hard drive. Ram is temporary storage that is only active while the computer is on. Replace them with no worries man!
Thanks! Now I can put my 512 MB of ram to use! I have an hp compaq d220 and it only came with 120 MB of ram.

As long as you stay away from the power supply, you're not going to get electrocuted.

cracking9 2 years ago
you need to see what memory your computer uses and howmuch memory it can have
bananasquads 2 years ago
How do you know how much memory your PC can have? What's the difference betwen DIMM and RIMM?
Kdarkov 2 years ago
It's impossible to have 40 GB of ram lol, that's his hard drive space.

Pro computers like NASA and all that have about 250 GB of RAM lol
Robotdrummerzzk 2 years ago
they need that much ram tho, cos of the simulations they run
bananasquads 2 years ago
exactly. i think the NASA computer has like 100 000 petrabytes of storage and two terabytes of RAM, because of the stuff they process
Robotdrummerzzk 2 years ago

Question: I have a compaq presario and it has 512mb of ram and the ram cards are dimms. Can those rams be taken out and replaced with larger ram cards without losing any of my personal files and data?
OfficialFrizzo 2 years ago
Yes sir you can replace those and not lose your files. Your files are stored on your hard drive. Ram is temporary storage that is only active while the computer is on. Replace them with no worries man!
jojodancer1986 2 years ago
Thanks a lot. I replaced the ram cards and my pc is supercharged now!

i dont think 32bit supports 4gb of ram or more...not sure though
xAgent0 2 years ago
Agent youre right. 32bit XP and Vista do not support 4gb and up. But 64bit XP and Vista do. :]
Robertttstyle 2 years ago
XP 32-bit only supports max. 3/3.5GB while Vista 32-bit supports max. 4GB RAM
ikcti 2 years ago
thanks but its ok now am on win 7 - 64 bit w/8GB of ram n it works great thanks
03matherb 2 years ago
You are using win 7 as a main computer? Win 7 is still in beta, isn't it?
ikcti 2 years ago
Yes, but it's already more stable and WAY faster than vista. I have it in a VM, running smoother than vista running the VM xD
