I think they even kept the same 3 speed auto +OD transmission/ 5spd manual for most of that time too (could be wrong there though). The new V6 2011 mustang has 305 BHP with a 6speed man/auto and is literally a hair slower than the pre 2011 GT. So essentially anyone who bought a pre-2011 GT is gullible, yeah.
