As a kapa haka tutor I would say that its easy to get precious about the quality of these boys performance but you just have to look at their faces to see the immence pride in themselves and their polynesianess. i too wished that the hakas being done all over the U.S would be done more correctly...especially just by slowing it down. im tongan but born in new zealand. having maori friends helped me understand more about the haka and maori culture, but never did any of them say "leave it to the maori's". if this is so, then all the other polys on the All Blacks should sit out during the haka. honestly as a non-maori, i love doing the haka because there is a spirit about it that brings confidence. one luv!

As a kapa haka tutor I would say that its easy to get precious about the quality of these boys performance but you just have to look at their faces to see the immence pride in themselves and their polynesianess. Thats all that matters and if Maori culture is another vehicle to instill that then I'm 100% in support regardless of the quality.
