Jazz Jackrabbit I forgot all about till I seen it on your video and I forgot all about that game and seeing it just gave me a flash back from the past and thanks to you maybe I can find it again.
Oh yea how well i remember "The Incredible Machine" i think i still have it today running with dosbox. And Pinball Dreams on the amiga 500, old memories that brings a tear to the eye.
Also from one of your other videos, i still today almost daily listen to the old modules like s3m, xm, mod, it and those.
I really do appreciate these videos, It's nice to learn about classic tech like this to see where it all started. My dad would always talk about his old IBM from 92'. Keep uploading these, I just subscribed for more!
The good old PC's and DOS, the age before "bloatware" :-). Back in 2003, i had a IBM 486 from 1997, Intel Pentium-133MHz; later a AMD-K62 450MHz CPU, 48MB RAM, socked 7, it had a jumper: "Intel" and "AMD". Up to 600MHz was supported, i could run XP with only 48MB RAM, but slow, so i had DOS-7.0 and Knoppix Linux on it
I remember having the old Gateway 2000 Computer as my first from 1993 that was given to me by my aunt and my school having Windows 95 still, despite being 2004 until they got new computers with Windows XP.
Lucky you still have computers from when you were growing up. The only thing I have left is a Compaq Presario motherboard from a system my dad got back in '01. Had a 1 GHz Athlon with 1 GB DDR RAM, was amazing at the time. THough I think it has a southbridge problem as it never wanted to boot off a drive from some time. I fried the CPU trying to test another board (damn plastic retainers), so that's that.
So many wonderful games...I'd have liked to have played the racing one. (Nice map...were you much on car jumps? ;-)) I did have the Windows version of The Even More Incredible Machine...and I spent so much time designing strange machines or just crazy stuff with it.
Your camera handled (((THE MICROSOFT SOUND))) experience very well! Cool video.
nice. wish they still had powered sound cards.too much money now i guess. have a few computers here too that i haven't used and don't know what to do with really. you ever hear of a canon computer?
I love watching videos about old computers. My first PC was an ALR something, wish remembered what it was. Other then that had one of the good old Packard Bells with the Cyrix CPU.
it is a sight to see how well them ol' girls can run after soo long. there not made like they used too. i have a old Pack-Mate 386XH, however that wasnt so lucky. but then my fault forgot i ever had it and it was in the garage in the elements for years. it still post, but the hard drive made a large pop and burn smell. just need to get it a hdd from the age and figure out how to get 3.1 on it (what old drive had on it). gots a 8in floppy drive & i got no disc. there ways around that however. :3
I have an IBM 126 key Terminal keyboard with an AT style connector with a different pin layout. I was wondering if anyone ever found a pin layout to make it work with a PC. It'd be a shame to toss this big heavy thing out. Very comfortable tactile feel when I type.
The IBM AT (with big box like color CRT) computer that this keyboard was hooked two fried and was unrepairable.
@beachsandinspector It's actually pretty beat up, since it was trash picked. The reset button and front cover are missing. It has fared well as far as turning yellow though.
OMG, hearing that amazing OPL3 synthesis looks great, and if you remove the card from the computer and her Waveblaster extension you will find the Yamaha chip that provides FM synthesis to the card :)
Anyways, you have 8 games that I know and one of them I was playing it many times (was Commander Keen) in my primary school :). Excellent video I like to see old computers still running here on Youtube
Ahh good ol nostalgia I always thought the Jazz jackrabbit had the best intro music for a game.
And the game the incredible machine was so awesome I really need to get some old games and use them with my virtual PC thats running DOS and Window 3.11. :) Those ol sound blasters really did have decent sounds too. Enjoyed watching your videos. :)
ah stunts..... my godbrother had that game and i loved playing that everytime i went to his house, the incredible machine was another game i had fun with.......
@stonercrazyclips222 I think it is only used when the main CPU is a 486 SX. Then a 487 coprocessor could handle some of the math operations.
Although, I remember trying to install a pair of 66Mhz 486 DX-2 chips. The BIOS would say "upgrade processor installed" but never seemed to act any different. There is also a second slot next to the existing CPU card, and I've often wondered if it had an option for a further CPU expansion.

@TheBlueMoons It has Windows 95 already, and 98 would probably work if I could add more RAM.

I think I paid $200 for RAM back in the day, and I think it bumped it up to a whopping 8MB of RAM, Windows 3.1 booted so damn fast it was insane.
