  • First heard this on their "Live at the BBC" CD's...thought it was a Buddy Holly cover! Cool how during the "break", George plays, then maybe is "stuck" a bit and stays silent? The Beatles...awesome. I can picture Paul peering over smiling at George after he went silent, by so doing in a friendly way saying, "So that was it?". So it's so cool, they are improvising, and, yes, it seems like it's about ready to be Beatles single, but it wasn't, eh?

  • YES: When I first heard this on the "Live at the BBC" CD's, I thought it was a cover of Buddy Holly. Yes, it is just about there as a Beatles single, huh? Maybe the "middle eight" is a bit weak? Notice George kind of fizzles on his solo on the song....it's great cuz they seem to be

improvising, so "fizzle" is not a fair word. I can imagine Paul smiling over at George after George's "silence" during the latter part of his "break"! Beautiful on the spot stuff! Beatles, YES!

  • Aw shucks...cuts out but then again the BBC recordings go right into another song right? I believe it's ''Young Blood''...

  • This song was written by Lennon & McCartney, released in 63 by the Dakotas, heavily influenced by Buddy Holley.

  • Mark it fab!

  • Is it weird that my two favorite bands are The Beatles and The Killers? haha

  • such a cool song love it

  • bestles eternally....

  • love this one, i love to sing with it

  • According to John Lennon(1980)

"That's Paul, through and through. Doesn't it sound like him? Tra la la la la [laughs]. Yeah, that's Paul on the voids of driving through the country."

  • @studerj37 he must have been so completely screwd up he couldn't even recognize his own voice..

or maybe he was just ashamed cause this is too good for his crappy 1980 ego

  • Everly Brothers influence?

  • @apingos I'd say Buddy Holly influence ,but that's just me.

  • The Beatles themselves were like other men, but the music and lyrics channeled through them contained magic and messages from beyond the mind. If you love The Beatles and their music, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read through the section about The Beatles.

  • — Touching it needn't become: pits large enough to choke horses. Horses lifting their tails to facilitate those tasked with artificial fluidity are horses that earn oats by the trough.

  • I HAVE TO LEARN THIS!

  • Oh wow, I haven't heard this before! I agree, I hear Buddy Holly and the Everly's but god it doesn't matter, the Beatles make it their own and immortalize everything they touch!

  • @kareilly3 Just to clarify, this is an original Beatles song. The person was just saying it sounds like it was influenced by Buddy Holly.

  • Whenever they covered a song, it sounded so vintage compared to their original songs. Goes to show you their own material will never age.

  • This song was written by Lennon and McCartney. It was given to Billy J. Kramer to record.

  • GAY SEX LOL\

  • PENIS LOL

  • ringo wasnt even in the band for a year when this video was shot right???

  • this the BEATLES at there early best

  • The Beatles wrote this song for Billy J Kramer and the dakotas. They recorded this version -- the only one in existence -- during one of their BBC radio shows as a demo for Kramer.

  • yup should have put this on beatles for sale and got rid of mr moonlight very buddy hollyish

  • Ver esos videos te transportan, que tiempos para nosotros no vividos :(

  • OMG haha this song rules!

  • john lennons voice is so beautiful *_*

  • Mark it fab!

  • I'm saving this for my retirement party . . . just a few more years. Wow, I never heard it before and I agree it is very Buddy Holly like. Thank you!!

  • It is the Beatles, it was recorded for a BBC radio show in early April 1964, its not an EMI studio recording, its from the Album Live at the BBC, they recorded lots of songs for the BBC that they never issued on disc.

  • The Beatles for life !!!

  • The Beatles = real music :D

  • Very Buddy Holly (Listen to Me & Maybe Baby) in some parts, and Everly Brothers in other parts (When Will I Be Loved)

  • To learn how to hear the hidden messages in Beatles songs, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read through the section about The Beatles.

  • ATTENTION all Beatles fans,On July 15th, we will be watching the music video hey jude repeatedly all day to boost it's view count up to at the least of 100,000,000 views. You don't even have to listen to it. You can just keep playing the video back to back all the way through without sound. We're doing this to compete with Justin Beibers garbage music videos & to make The Beatles be heard across Youtube. Copy& Paste this across all Beatles videos. Spread the word

  • my love for the beatles will last more than long...(L'

  • "I'll Be on My Way" is a Lennon/McCartney song, which was first released on 26 April 1963 by Billy J. Kramer with The Dakotas as the b-side of their single "Do You Want to Know a Secret?", a song also written by Lennon/McCartney. According to John Lennon, the song was mainly written by Paul McCartney: "This was early Paul."

    According to Wikipedia.

  • John himself said it's a McCartney tune (as reported on a couple of books). The sound and story reminds me alot of "I'll Follow the Sun" which is also McCartney

  • Hey,gaalaxy! Let the song finish before cutting it off! Please!

  • peter and gordon?

  • this song lyrics suck and Paul is not John...Lennon. Crap you guys like anything .. nice music, sort of bland song for the Bealtes.

  • this has a very 1950s feel to it ... I can imagine dancing to it at some sock hop :)

  • beautiful

  • This has got mccartney all over it, love mccartney late early modern he's just the greatest. Nice footage also, priceless.

  • Buddy Holly? I thought it sounded more like The Everly Brothers during "I'll be on my way."

  • @lmferg - really it sounds like a perfect cross between Buddy Holley . This would have been a huge hit for most of the great bands . For the Bealtes , it got lost in the enormous shuffle

  • @lmferg - really it sounds like a perfect cross between Buddy Holley and the Everly brothers . This would have been a huge hit for most of the great bands . For the Bealtes , it got lost in the enormous shuffle

  • @lmferg It does sounded like the Everly Brothers by their harmony vocals but the music is more Buddy Holly influenced.

  • They made so much amazings songs that didn't made it on their albums O:

  • When i listen to this song,i regretted not revising my homework.

  • Those look like cigarettes but theyre not....=) WEED!

  • @cccphackermaster They weren't smoking weed in 1964, which is when these clips are from. They started smoking weed in '65 when they met Dylan.

  • @cccphackermaster yea and I wish they would pass that this way! lol

  • @cccphackermaster umm this footage is from 63 and 64, before they were smoking weed. get your facts straight.

  • lol john at 1:40

  • That guy above is so right, I bet you that they were having a Holly LP on, in the background, when they wrote this song...

  • Beatles the best band !

  • ericacarmenfan, this is very very definitely the Beatles.

  • wow i never even heard this song before! its great

  • Very strong influence of Buddy Holly in this version. I am more familiar with the version by Billy J Kramer, which I actually prefer. But this is also interesting to listen to. Doesn't sound as if they took it too seriously, but I really like the song myself.

  • One of my favourite songs. The percussion is brilliant; as is John's voice! I love at how 1:42 John just springs out of his chair and than Paul slowly turns around to the camera. Makes me laugh every time. So does 1:16.

Anyway - long live the Beatles!!! No denying the greatest band of all time. :D

  • This definitely IS the Beatles. Perfect attempt though.

  • this definitely IS the Beatles. perfect attempt though!

  • Not the Beatles, really? I think you're wrong about that.

  • This is absolutely the Beatles. Its in the Anthology. They never put it on an album. Their rejects were better than any other bands hits.

  • No, Paul was unbelievable at singing harmonies and he taught the others, he also wrote this song.

  • No, Paul was unbelievable at singing harmonies and he taught the others, he also wrote this song.

  • some songs are labeled as thebeatles but they be from the silver beatles or quarry men. * simple mistakes ) this is an early beatles song.

  • This definitely NOT the Beatles. Good attempt though.

  • @ericcarmenfan yes it is? it's on 'live at the bbc'

  • @ericcarmenfan see below, if you take the trouble to check-out The Beatles at the bbc (double album) you will definately know its the Beatles, unless you're just after an argument

  • @ericcarmenfan It IS definitely the Beatles. It's track #7 on "Live at the BBC." The song is an early Paul composition that was given to Billy Kramer & The Dakotas, who used it as a B-side to their version of "Do You Want to Know a Secret?" (that being a George song).

  • @ericcarmenfan I think it is, you know. They do sound a bit different, but you can hear the scouse accent and John's raspy voice at certain points in the song. I guess you can see the similarity when you listen to "I'll follow the sun"

  • @ericcarmenfan this are the beatles, idiot!!

  • @ericcarmenfan It is the Beatles! this song wrote Paul and they play it in BBC and it's on album Live at the BBC too.

  • @ericcarmenfan So it accidentally made it onto the 'Beatles Live At The BBC' album?

  • @ericcarmenfan it is on their Live at The BBC album so it obviously is them :P

  • @ericcarmenfan yes it is . who do you think it is ...justin beiber?

  • @ericcarmenfan um this IS the Beatles...

  • @ericcarmenfan your a dumbass

  • @ericcarmenfan Definately the Beatles. With Lennon being the predominate voice

  • @wildhorsestudios1421

    Predominant.

  • this is one that i have never heard ;very good

beatles - the best band of all time

    tdd1966

    Beatles4Ever

  • This sounds like Gerry and The Pacemakers.

  • Thanks for posting. I never heard this sung by the Beatles.

  • John is singing lead. Paul and George in back ground. George was so damn good at harmony.

  • @comicteacher John and Paul are singing joint lead. Paul wrote the song.

  • hermosa cancion only the beatles!!!!!!

  • this is not beatles

  • @heterocyclist Yes, it is. It was written by Lennon & McCartney. This is the only Beatles recording of the song which they performed for the BBC program 'Side By Side' 04/04/63. This song is the first of many which are known as "the songs the Beatles gave away." It was covered by Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas less than a month later as the single B-side to their cover of 'Do You Want to Know a Secret' which reached No.2 in the U.K.

  • cus it is

  • @heterocyclist Really? Then who is it?

  • @heterocyclist like the other song of the beatles: "yes it is" the beatles

  • Hm, the instruments and production sounds like Beatles but the vocals sound suspicious to me.

  • @LeonardAaron See my response to heterocyclist. This song was included on the released 'Beatles at the BBC.'

  • I really do not know how you could say that there is no doubt whasoever

  • @LeonardAaron its because its live at the BBC. thats why they sound different

  • @LeonardAaron It is the beatles, and it is an official release on "Live at the BBC" Back in '94.

  • @LeonardAaron

Yeah, that Live at the BBC album by the Beatles is pretty sketchy.

  • @LeonardAaron Oh, Leonard, it's the Beatles, believe me.

  • This is such a sweet song! <3

  • Billy J. Kramer did this - first time I've heard this by the Beatles!

  • This is obviously an early song..Id say..Hamburg to cavern..Wow..I love this song its a bit cheesy but its nice,And the videos epic!

  • I hear two of their infulences. Buddy Holly for the overall sound & The Everlys in the harmony

  • one of Gilbert O'Sullivans favourite tunes........

  • @mattquig1978

sounds a little like him too

  • I've never heard this song before and at first listen, it didn't even sound like the boys to me. Wow.

  • @KungfuKitty64 I was going to like your comment in agreement but youtube wont let me for some unknown reason.

  • love the footage on this video! and can you imagine what their closets looked like? It'd be like- "WOW, look at all the SUITS!!"

  • hehe ... so funny when he makes a weird face and then normally turns back and plays the guitare like nothing happened :P ... 1:16 and on 1:28 when he plays the piano =p and on 1:39 again when he plays guitar ^^ hehe

  • hehe ... so funny when he makes a weird face and then normally turns back and plays the guitare like nothing happened :P ... 1:16 ^^

  • I remember getting 'Live at the BBC' and listening to this song. I was dumbstruck. This shows show talented these boys were that they could give away pieces of artwork like this. I really wish they did release it on With the Beatles or maybe Beatles for Sale. It wouldve went well with All my loving or Ill follow the sun. It is in my top 5 fave Beatles songs of all time. Truly class.

  • The Decca tapes. End of!

  • I REALLY need to get Anthology.

  • It's on "the Beatles Live at the BBC" CD

  • What? Some people think this isn't the beatles? lol It was played live in the studio for the Side by Side show on 24 June 1963.

  • @mysterymac38 who thinks it's not the beatles? I am a hearing specialist :):):)

  • Looks like Google controls the world. I give up.

  • @edncda Huh, why?

  • @edncda I love the "Google"/Lennon icon, celebrating John's birthday today. And then you click on the arrow and and get the animated version of "Imagine." Thank you, Google, for helping us all shine on to celebrate John's birthday. We miss you, John.

  • @edncda did you try to compete with them for that role? :) don't give up :):):)

  • @gaalaxy: Am I the first person to tell you that this song was never performed by the Beatles? That the person singing it is Billy J. Kramer?

How about taking it down now that you know?

  • @edncda The Beatles did a demo for Kramer and this is it.

  • @gaalaxy: Am I the first person to tell you that this song was never performed by the Beatles? That the person singing it is Billy J. Kramer?

How about taking it down now that you know?

  • @edncda

How about buying yourself a copy of The Beatles Anthology Volume 1 and listen to it for yourself, which is exactly the same version heard here?

Billy J Kramer & the Dakotas TRIED to sound like the Beatles, and did record a couple of Lennon/McCartney songs. But this ain't them.

  • @FORDCOUNTRY7885

This is NOT on "Anthology Volume 1". It is on "Live at the BBC", Disc 1, Track 7.

  • @gaalaxy: Am I the first person to tell you that this song was never performed by the Beatles? That the person singing it is Billy J. Kramer?
