you would think a rocket scientist would have figured out that it would scrape further back and use more of the test thing that they replaced. but maybe not. oh and the test wasn't very accurate. they never got a real tail strike. is this plane fully fueled and weighted like it had passengers in it? you would think that would also be a requirement because it would change the take off speed.
How was this plane FAA certified? They never had the proper contact with the ground, That Skid fucked the testing up, They never knew how the plane would actually react to a Tail Strike, Therefore The planes safety is at risk. Therefore It should be taken out of service until they redo all the testing. The Engine Tests failed, Brake tests failed, and this failed. Never fly on Airbus. Boeing<3
wait! wait! wait! FUCKING WAIT A GODDAMN MINUTE!!!!! they can fly the biggest plane in the world around, scrape its fucking tail, and destroy the runway, BUT CANT AFFORD A PIECE OF FUCKING METAL? WHAT THE FUCK DID I MISS
Did they properly fix the tail strike? Don't forget what happened to Japan Airlines 123, a 747 in 1985 faulty tail strike repair made it crash and killing 520 people, so if they don't repair this A380 properly maybe years from now when this A380 gets put into service with airline it will crash just like JAL 123, so properly fix tail strike and learn from past mistakes!
@JundaComputersGmbH This is a test type, not meant for passenger service. In future this plane will serve as testing machine for new engine, equipment and new material for building aircrafts.
Now I know why the rudder or the entire vertical stabilizer comes off Airbus jets--duct tape!! All jokes aside, I avoid Airbus jets because of their vertical stabilizer issues. They STILL haven't addressed that issue. Data shows that the AA airbus crash in NYC was the result of the pilot wagging the tail 11 degrees to counter wake turbulence. 11 degrees?!?! That's all it takes for it to snap off? Hellll naw!!
What's wrong with you clowns who love one company and hate the other? It's such a futile and childish argument. Even the engineers in those companies would tell you that their competitors are doing a good job.
i used to love all boeing and no airbus aircraft, now its the opposite. i love the a340,a330,and a380. i prefer the 737 to the a320 but thats about it. anyone know why they use an aircraft with the windows in it instead of just using a cargo type plane without windows?
@Naopro since its a carbon fibre shell I suspect its strips of the carbon fibre they're putting on with rescin as that;s how they make it.....a guess on my part
I hate the French too, but the idiot here is you! That was a fully-automated experimental demonstration which failed. Thats why we don't have robots flying airplanes! The automated lessons learned are applied now and the fly-by-wire systems in the current Airbus and Boeing are used because of that.
yeah six people died there, but that was because no other airliner had ever used a digital fly by wire system. That technology has probably saved a lot of lives since then. Also that plane saved 155 lives by successfully ditching, which no one thought it could.
I don't think the A380 is the most magnificent commercial jet, it looks somewhat lopsided. But! It is an amaaaaaaaazing piece of engineering and I hope in the future I have the fortune to fly in it :)
And yes, Fernando hides his secret identity well! lol
There's actually 2 in service now...they brought the other one out of the hanger and made it flight worthy. So apparently there is definitely a need for them.
I think the airline manufacturers are making people spoiled by building jumbos more and more luxury, they're now being equipt with a bar room , gym room,, and a sleep room, the're basically a giant flying motel. The bigger the aircraft , the bigger loss of life will occour, should a horrific accident happen , we all hope not but of the recent number of incidents in this early new year 2009 I can only imagine what could happen, I think we are fine with the fleet of jets 777, 787, 767, and 747.
Assuming equal demand, if you are running smaller aircraft you'll have to fly more flights, thus more flight hours and cycles, thus more susceptibility to suffer an accident.
Or course you'd loose half the lives per each accident, but if you fly twice the flights the rules of statistics say in the end you'll have twice the number of accidents.
maybe we should also stop operating ferries and cruise ships as well, seeing as how they carry way more than 400 passengers...and prevent the japanese airlines from operating their 747s domestically in full economy configuration (500 seats or maybe more)....?!?!!!!
