One of my favorite movies! I was lucky enough to watch at "Viaggio nella preistoria" (its italian title) on the italian rai tv back in the late '60 in black and white and dubbed in italian. Thanks for this nice posting!
Hey guys :) I'm from Czech, so thanks for compliments. The actors met just a week ago :) all still alive but just one kept acting, others live normal lifes
Thank you, Czech people, for making one of my most favorite childhood films. This was shown in the US in the 60's on children's television shows, it was called "Journey to the Beginning of Time". Of course, the Czech version is way better than the American version. Can anyone tell me what happened to the actors in this film? Did they go on to act in other Czech films? Is there a subtitled version? Thank you!
@johnmannno It just so happens, that about month ago there was a magazine article about those four boys - well old men, now. They even got reunited to appear at International film festival for children and youth in Zlin. Only one of them became an actor and still performs in one of Prague's theatres. Another one is a mayor of a little czech town. Two of them appeared in minor roles in other movies, but they all fondly remember making of this movie - their first ever trip to sea and by plane, etc
They just say: Whoops, we saw the largest animal that has ever lived: Brontosaurus. We were thrilled but then we realized that it wasn't dangerous because there was not much intelligence in its tiny brain.
That's why he had another brain center inside the body. It was lucky that it could move at all. They loved to live in water, helping them to lift their horrible weight of 40 tons or so.
"Paddle slowly, Johnnie, so that we can see him. Don't be afraid." ... "He's a giant." ... "I feel that he is turning towards us. Really." ... "We will better turn around, too." ... "Guys, stop, I must take a picture of him. I almost forgot. Wait, don't move. Thanks, done. Sorry, now he saw us." ... "We should better leave." ... "That will be the best thing."
Yea and there's no such thing as soccer, it's football... who cares what name does this saurus have? Bronto or Apato it's all the same, everybody knows what it is...
No they don't. They think it's Brontosaurus. It's Apatosaurus. There is no such thing as Bronotosaurus. It's as much a Brontosaurus as it is a Vhuiioskjkdfosaurus.
To be perfectly honest, i wouldn't know what Vhuiioskjkdfosaurus is. But i know what Brontosaurus is. Everybody knows who Gypsies, Eskimos, Lapps are, even if their official names are Roma, Inuit and Sámi. So feel free to insist on Apatosaurus, you'll be closer to the science, Canuck;-))
Vhuiioskjkdfosaurus does not exist, and neither does Brontosaurus. You do not know what Brontosaurus is, and neither do I. You cannot know what does not eist. It's Apatosaurus. Let the name Brontosaurus forever be lost in the obyss!
Obyss doesn't exist as well so nobody can let Brontosaurus be lost in it. Hey man, tell me 1 reason why shoudn't I use the word Brontosaurus, it more popular, it's funnier, and by the way, when this movie was filmed, the word was used even by paleontologists because your beloved Apatosaurus was ratified in 1974.
Obyss doesn't exist as well so Brontosaurus can't be lost there. Although your beloved Apato saurus is correct (since 1974), my Brontosaurus is more popular, funnier and has got its own site on wikipedia:)
This was my first Dino-movie I ever saw, when I was about 7 or 8 years old, in a german vacation camp, and which affected me that much, that my first occupation wish was even a Paleontologist. Recently I bought a re-issued copy at eBay - for old times sake.
