  • that explosion was sick!

  • find whoever is in charge of titles and fire that guy

  • Wow, how cute :)

  • that suks, is that a xplotion for you? u are a girl

  • You meant:

    Transformer sparks lots; NBD.

  • FAIL

  • Optimus Prime could've kicked that transformer's ass.

  • boring......

  • nice explosion.

  • No Kapowee.. I am totally bummed

  • That kind of transformer even looks scary to me.

  • ok.....and the explosion is where?

  • asswipe

  • Badly mislabeled: this transformer does not "explode" or even come close to it. There are some arcs on the wires near the transformer, that's all.

THIS is what a "transformer explosion" looks like, so you'll know from now on: watch?v=WkDCS8xeobg

Grade: C (mildly interesting but badly labeled). Stars: 3.

  • @lonewolfintj ur a fag

  • My house burnt down cause of that

  • i would be enough to knock you out of your socks .....dont mind essarsr

  • pyrotechnics isnt it?

  • Whilst the transformer didn't explode with a loud BOOM and shoot fire everywhere, I didn't like the way it sparked and crackled like it did, you can hardly call that an explosion, but it sure looked nasty. Did you just happen to be recording a video of the power pole when the transformer shorted out?

  • I know. I should change the title since it's more of a fizzle than an explosion. I wasn't quick enough on the draw to get the first "explosion" on camera, as it was a fair bit more impressive.

  • This happened near my house once only it blew the pole out of the ground. No power for 2 weeks.

  • mild arcing, hardly a jaw dropping explosion, back to watching the wiggles

  • What exploded? I didn't see a Transformer explode. I saw a couple wires shorting out, but nothing exciting at all. I would have loved to see it explode, but, no nothing happened all that great :(

  • wow free wifi where is that at?

  • It's the white cylinder next to the street lamp.

  • wat city

  • By looking at the other videos that this person has, I'd assume: Portland, Oregon.

  • Hardly said, those passive non-cooled cylinder-boxes are very old-fashioned out-of-date devices and therefore sensitive for overload conditions. Today's technology should allow to use minimized cube transformers with or w/o coolant circulation / external surface cooling also for external use.

  • Hardly an explosion. This is just a classic case of the wires being damaged near the base of the pole and short circuiting. It is actually quite common as the base of the poles can be damaged by vehicles, lawn mowers, and other machinery. The cover over the wires can eventually break, exposing the wire to damage, leading to an even such as this.

  • Actually that WAS me who was accidently on my sister's account, I didn't think it would start such a riot.

    Now shut up about it.

  • more like "power line sizzles..."

  • This explosion Reminds me of a scene in the RESCUE 9-1-1- intro where sparks from a powerline fly over a firetruck shooting sparks

  • check out mine, much worse! mine exploded, then smashed on the ground, then just buzzed all night! lol

  • imagan that would ruin somebody's day

  • If you really "knew better", you would think twice before going outside. You could get electrocuted - the voltage gradient can sometimes be very high.

  • typical excuse for being a stupid idiot. You posted it and you know it

  • That WAS me on my sisters user, I didn't think it would cause such a riot.

    Now shut up about it.

  • lol the guys just new what telephone pole and the exact moment to film it

  • Yes the 240 it puts out two 120 volts and a grounded wire.

  • Never look directly at any high voltage line arcing, the arc produces immense UV Rays which can damage your eyes. Just like looking at someone welding. Ultraviolet Radiation burns the eyes.

  • ...a GIGANTIC arc like shown in this video will probably melt out your eyes and then start burning holes into the back of your skull by UV radiation...

  • hell yea i heard that transformers are loud when they blow up.

  • Poles smell like oil because there's oil on it. Oh and, if i were you, i wouldn't be that close.

    You'r brave. xD

  • Why its just a Two Phase with 7Kv and im under a transfomer therer nothing wrong with that and why are they covered in oil? Oh yes theres a substaion next to are house and I go right up next to the fence its a realy small one its a step down transfomers in it it has 17Kv thats all Its a Three Phase distrabution. Oh yes I no alot about PowerLines and crap so quzi me!

  • Why do the poles allways smell like oil????!?!?!?!?!?

  • It looks like it's the low voltage wires below the transformer (well "low" is subjective, because that might be 240 volts). But if it were high voltage lines, or the transformer, you would DEFINITELY know. 15,000 volts makes a MUCH bigger arc, and the pole would probably be on fire.

  • Yes it just arced because its sheilding went to crap so it arced!

  • where's the boom?

  • Well damn... No BIG explosion.. Good catch though...
