I need to get better about my cable management, I'm sloppy as hell when it comes to that. My case is alot like yous, VERY large case but no back board cabling so it makes it really hard to not get things looking sloppy.
@BigRandomBox So, how did you manage this impossibilities of 8 gpu sli? and the i52500k+i72600k beat the i7 extreme for games. btw. 32gb is unnecessary and your a tool for buying that much ram.
Hahaha well technically "it" doesn't exist anymore, but I'm sure you could build something exactly like this for a HELL of a lot cheaper than I had to build it for 2 years ago :P
@Fencefeet I dont have alot of experience with pc's or building them if I bought one already built how much more would it be rather than putting one together
A few months ago I thought Alienware was a beast.. but c'mon! Ok, they're great machines, but overpriced!!! We can build a custom PC with the same parts Alienware uses and spend less! They're expensive because they're famous -_- people think "Ohhhhh look, it's ALIENWARE!"
Go with Windows 7 64 Bit. There's absolutely zero reason for anyone to stay with XP anymore for "gaming". It has been proven in benchmarks that 7 is just as good and better than XP in every game. So go ahead and grab the newer and shinier OS :]
Sorry for the late response but 2x2GB will be better for you because it will require less DIMM slots and therefore won't put as much stress on each channel.
"This one is a one terabyte... hardrive for storage like... games".
Please please correct me. I thought that games and other applications could be stored on the local drive. All I can seem to put on my storage drive is music and such.
Am I wrong? Or can I finally enjoy being able to have all my games installed at one time?
No you can definitely install programs (like games) on a secondary drive just as you would on a primary one. All that you have to do is make sure that you set the installation folder of the program to the drive you want it to be on. In other words, when installing, change the installation folder from "C:" to "D:" (or whatever your secondary drive is labeled). Hope that helps.
Hahaha yes my friend I have indeed upgraded a good amount. Watch the video this computer essentially 2 years old. It was DAMN good then :[ haha
Aside from mods that ive done to the case, since then ive gotten 8GB of 1066 ram, a 60GB ssd, an 1000W psu, and 2 4890s in CF so im good to go - im making a new video soon ;]
And about the ram, again consider how old this build is, 2 years ago 4GB of high speed ram wouldve been a shit ton. But im on top of it with my 8GB now dont worry :D
just making sure cause i got 8gigs of Corsair and a Q9400 with dual GTS 260s. Not to mention, 850 SLI power supply. However i pretty much got a bland case but i never really cared too much about LED lighting and stuff anyway. Just my opinion. Btw the guy i bought from is nice as hell too. He saw my fan on my GPU wasn't working and decided to buy a new one to replace it. I know who's getting good review on EBay. :)
I mean i always thought that they were cool and stuff but now a days they seem like the norm and i don't need a nightlight computer. I should do a video of my computer when i get it. Also what kind of monitor do you have? I just bought a Spectre 20" for $80 and I figured in the future i would add a second one for maximum awesome. And yeah i would definitely recommend this EBay seller to anyone. You never see that kind of quality on the internet anymore.
tis isnt great cable management but looks like a gud try, im 14 and ive worked with cases that are as bad as this and i know how much of a pain it is but i spent a few solid hours and came up with some really good looking cable management. tbh all ya need is practice.
i make vids on computers, 'computerinfotube' if ur having trouble at all, i will be making some vids on cable management soon so just search my channel and have a look. i like this case btw
Hahaha bro work with this case because trust me it is THE hardest case to do cable management for without any mods. I have worked with over 20 different cases and nothing has been harder thus far.
Also you have to remember whats inside this thing - a non-modular PSU with 24 different cables, as well as the actual components in the case - 10 molex cons. all at different places in the chassis, 8 cold cathode light cons. (2 for each cold cathode), 2 gpu power cons., 2 mobo con., 1 SATA power and 1 SATA data con., 3 IDE cable cons., 5 chassis I/O cons., and 8 speed/temp cons.
That's 64 different wires to worry about in a case with no place to hide the wires. Trust me...it was impossible haha
aye reet, a worked with non modular psu's aswell in micro atx cases that have no back area at all, not even that bit you had as the case was pretty much just a box with nen space to work with as the hdd's and disk drives were sitting on top of the mobo, i also have worked with full tower cases filled with 5 hdd's 4 dvd roms, 2 floppy (for sum reason) and 5 fans. i had a trick up my sleeve though which helped alot and looked really good, i know where ur coming from
Why a 74gb raptor you just have it?And do you have it in raid even know its a different speed?Must be cutting close with ur power supply??I think u did a awesome job dude,i like it!
If he has a job. he worked hard to pay for it. he earned it. If he is doing chores for his parents, he works hard building it. if he was given the money, or didn't have to work for it. hes lucky.
Great question. My honest answer would have to be not really. 750W and up usually just tends to be a safe power zone to be in as an enthusiast computer user, but that's all that it really is. I have never understood the need of having a 1200W PSU or whatever, other than to simply be able to say that you have it. For me 750W is kind of a nice midpoint between enthusiasm and reality.
But exactly what PSU do you have? Cause watts aren't everything. When you respond I'll explain why
The ideal thing to do is to go to your local hardware store and buy an anti-static wrist bracelet. They cost about 5 bucks at most and are an easy way of always making sure you are grounded.
i worked on my brothers case and it was the thermaltake bachvx, nerly the same as the armor you have and it is a pain in the ass for cable management.
Did you have any problems with the USB front panel connections on this case? Because when I built a rig with a different board (EVGA 750i) the connections didn't match up and I didn't want to risk ruining a flash drive so I just never connected them.
Looks awesome man! My shit is a mess at the moment. No cable management at all. Just waiting on a new case before I transfer my rig which is fairly new. I'll probably try to do some management mostly just tucking wires out of the way lol.
thats a pretty cool system you got there .. mine will probably end up being the crappiest custom desktop computer ever (just because of my really low budget) .. but at least the case I'll pick out will make it look good .. haha
ofc you should be satisfied with your graphics card......i mean,as bad as you think it is it can always be worse...trust me,I have ati sapphire 9600 pro,and my friend has a 64 bit nvidia card that's about 10 years old(I don't know which one)....XD
anyway soon both of us should get new pc's(hopefully, for me an i7 cpu and a xfx 285 gtx,but we'll see what the future will bring to us)
haha i know. im just sayin that it sucks how fast things become obsolete. but hell my trusty ol' 3870x2 still plays all my games just fine so i completely agree with you.
so when are you going to change vid cards? now? or are you waiting for this summer? (for those of you who dont know the next generations of nvidia and ATI cards are slated to be released sometime this summer)
thats a really good question. im gonna wait at least another month and see if more specs and benchmarks come out on the r870 gpu (processor for the future 5870) and decide off of that. if 4870 prices are super low by then ill probably go with that though. we'll see....
good call. people always bitch about whether ati or nvidia is better and personally im always one happy mofo when no one really knows for sure. more competition = lower prices for you and me.
im sure it does but its just that alienware computers tend to be wayyy overpriced, so i always buy other aftermarket cases for myself and clients instead. plus, since alienware computers are pre-built, they usually tend to come with good cable mangagement beforehand, whereas custom builders like me are stuck figuring cable management out for ourselves, no matter how good the case. haha.
yeah i might post a step by step basic computer building video and then another advanced video sometime soon. you aren't the first person to ask me to make one so there's a good chance i will if its in such demand. stay posted.
well it's in demand for me at least. I plan on building one this summer, but it's going to be my first build so a tutorial would be nice. the case I chose doesn't have a removable mobo tray though, a haf 932. would that be an issue for comp noob?
is static buildup in the case also a problem? how would I go about discharging the static from the case? Ive heard some cases come with mylar tape to prevent the motherboard from shorting, but it sounds like it might be a real pain in the ass. then again I haven't built it yet so I cant really say
there are anti-static wristbands that you can buy that do a great job at discharging but im actually really bad about using mine. i handle my parts all of the time without it and ive never had any problems but in reality everyone really should use one. its like a condom, most would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I already plan on using those in addition to vinyl gloves. I ruined a gaming rig once by handling the parts inside, I was able to return it, but still....but the main thing is ESD in the case. non issue?
hahaha you misinterpretted what i said. it took me about 1-2 hours to put everything together and do all of this, but i have had the parts to do so for 7 months. when i first accumulated all of the hardware i kind of just threw everything in my case and turned it on because i was ancy to just simply use it. all that you see in this video is that same computer after i took the time (7 months later) to make it look nice and neat.
haha trust me...i build computers pretty fast...im just lazy :]
YOU ARE SO RIGHT! i have the same thing going on with my Thermaltake Soprano RS 101.. I thought the samething with my case where i could but cables on the other side. I basically have the same cable setup as you..good job..Im trying to clean up my wires on my first build..im N00b
lol pretty good computer but l think u need a 4870 x2 to boost ut graphics alittle more and to get a solid state hdd and put the sold state hard driver in sly with the 1 T hdd
Impressive results for the case you have I couldn't have done it better. You did great on it I think and the way you used the wire sleeving and routed the cables your airflow is perfect. 2-3 cable in the path of a 120mm fan will not stop much trust me. The CCFL looks great too always wanted some but never can decide on what color I want to get. 5 stars on this build it sucks how fast hardware goes out of date.=(
Price please?

it cost me around $1800 to build and as of today is probably worth somewhere close to $1000.
still a good chunk of change but a 45% decrease in value on anything kind of makes you cringe a little haha. oh well.
Fencefeet 2 years ago
Your rig looks pretty powerful.
You selling? :)
Odbarc 2 years ago
ofc you should be satisfied with your graphics card......i mean,as bad as you think it is it can always be worse...trust me,I have ati sapphire 9600 pro,and my friend has a 64 bit nvidia card that's about 10 years old(I don't know which one)....XD
anyway soon both of us should get new pc's(hopefully, for me an i7 cpu and a xfx 285 gtx,but we'll see what the future will bring to us)

haha i know. im just sayin that it sucks how fast things become obsolete. but hell my trusty ol' 3870x2 still plays all my games just fine so i completely agree with you.

awsome rig man.chek out mine and coment if you like
mrcooler2 2 years ago
damn man i love your build, kick ass, how much was your case by the way if you dont mind be asking?
Dkylethomas 2 years ago
thanks dude :] No not at all, it was ~160 when i bought it. Its probably about 120 now though.
Fencefeet 2 years ago
Ahh cool thanks
Dkylethomas 2 years ago
so when are you going to change vid cards? now? or are you waiting for this summer? (for those of you who dont know the next generations of nvidia and ATI cards are slated to be released sometime this summer)
baronofcheese 3 years ago
thats a really good question. im gonna wait at least another month and see if more specs and benchmarks come out on the r870 gpu (processor for the future 5870) and decide off of that. if 4870 prices are super low by then ill probably go with that though. we'll see....
Fencefeet 3 years ago
I just hope the competition doesn't stagnate anytime soon...then things will start costing an arm and a leg again.
baronofcheese 3 years ago
good call. people always bitch about whether ati or nvidia is better and personally im always one happy mofo when no one really knows for sure. more competition = lower prices for you and me.
Fencefeet 3 years ago
Nice rig, you have the same mobo as me and I have 2 WD raptors in my rig. If you get chance pop over and check mine out...

my alienware has excellent cable management that i have never seen on any pc on youtube.
GigglingGirI 3 years ago
im sure it does but its just that alienware computers tend to be wayyy overpriced, so i always buy other aftermarket cases for myself and clients instead. plus, since alienware computers are pre-built, they usually tend to come with good cable mangagement beforehand, whereas custom builders like me are stuck figuring cable management out for ourselves, no matter how good the case. haha.
Fencefeet 3 years ago
i wish i could do what you could. it's a dream to build your own. will you teach me?
GigglingGirI 3 years ago
yeah i might post a step by step basic computer building video and then another advanced video sometime soon. you aren't the first person to ask me to make one so there's a good chance i will if its in such demand. stay posted.
Fencefeet 3 years ago
well it's in demand for me at least. I plan on building one this summer, but it's going to be my first build so a tutorial would be nice. the case I chose doesn't have a removable mobo tray though, a haf 932. would that be an issue for comp noob?
baronofcheese 3 years ago
no not at all. its just an added bonus for some cases. my first case never did either. no worries
Fencefeet 3 years ago
is static buildup in the case also a problem? how would I go about discharging the static from the case? Ive heard some cases come with mylar tape to prevent the motherboard from shorting, but it sounds like it might be a real pain in the ass. then again I haven't built it yet so I cant really say
baronofcheese 3 years ago
there are anti-static wristbands that you can buy that do a great job at discharging but im actually really bad about using mine. i handle my parts all of the time without it and ive never had any problems but in reality everyone really should use one. its like a condom, most would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Fencefeet 3 years ago
I already plan on using those in addition to vinyl gloves. I ruined a gaming rig once by handling the parts inside, I was able to return it, but still....but the main thing is ESD in the case. non issue?

Stay away from her she is a slut.
ferret6677 3 years ago
haha what? and who would that be?
Fencefeet 3 years ago
gigglinggirl. She or he is a scam artist.
ferret6677 3 years ago
oh haha. eh whatever. he/she hasn't given me any trouble so no reason for me to be mean....yet. ha.
thanks for the tip
Fencefeet 3 years ago
nice lovely omg i wish you were here to build one for me. i want one with all the sexy lightings.
GigglingGirI 3 years ago
well its really doubtful but if you live anywhere near san francisco, california then technically i suppose i could....but yeah....haha.
thanks for the comment. im sure you get this all the time but its always nice to see a girl thats not afraid to be techy :]
Fencefeet 3 years ago
I think it looks great.
ferret6677 3 years ago
thanks dude
and thanks to everyone else for the comments too, they make me feel good :]
Fencefeet 3 years ago
7 months? I put mine together in 1 day and that included drilling 8 holes and cutting plastic tube to wrap around the holes.
ferret6677 3 years ago
hahaha you misinterpretted what i said. it took me about 1-2 hours to put everything together and do all of this, but i have had the parts to do so for 7 months. when i first accumulated all of the hardware i kind of just threw everything in my case and turned it on because i was ancy to just simply use it. all that you see in this video is that same computer after i took the time (7 months later) to make it look nice and neat.
haha trust me...i build computers pretty fast...im just lazy :]
Fencefeet 3 years ago
