  • Barbara sang this on tour last year at the Sage - absolute magic! Great to find it here.Is it on any CDs?

  • @louliz2205 It's on her 1986 CD 'The Right Moment'.

  • @fateocharlie Thanks for that - now to Amazon!!!!!!!

  • She sang this in concert last week and it was miles better. Much more simple version in keeping with the Emmylou version and it was fab.

  • Nobody can do it better than Emmylou. It is her song and her emotions. But this is a great cover.

  • Wow, a great cover and a great performer. Thanks for posting.

  • Barbara does a fantastic version of this Emmylou Harris song, she has such a lovely voice. Nice to hear someone doing this very moving (tribute to Gram Parsons) song so well.

  • what a loveley song by a great singer

  • I always wonder why people attempt cover versions as they are never as good as the original. Barbara Dickson proves this wrong - this is a superb performance from a singer who should be a far bigger name than she is.

  • @HighlandWidow Yes she does. but it's emmy's song. however she is just as great. peace god bless gram.

  • tried to find boulder to birmingham by the hollies, anyone heard it

  • Allan Clarke is a wonderful vocalist and he could sing any song and make it sound wonderful. I cannot recall which album it is from but it is on their Box Set "The Long Road Home 1963-2003: 40th Anniversary", which with 6 CD's and so very well priced should be in everyone's collection. For the record, Emmylou does THE finest version of this song though, imo.

  • I have to say, this version is on a par with the EH version. Each is a different take, thats all. :-)

  • Kenrew

This is even better than the Emmy Lou

rendition. I first heard this when Wally

Whyton played it on his radio 2show and he rightly said it came out on top..Barbara at her very best.

  • Barbara Dickson's version of Emmy Lou Harris' "Boulder to Birmingham" is almost as beautiful as the Emmy Lou's original version. Why don't I know anything about Barbara Dickson?

  • Barbara Dickson is one of the very finest female singers the UK has ever produced. She began her career in the folk clubs of her native Scotland and the impact of traditional music can be heard in virtually everything she's ever sung. 60 this year...she's rapidly achieving iconic status. She's never been busier with tours, a new CD snd DVD this year and has a truly devoted fan base.

  • er she's been all over the telly in the last few weeks talking about her new CD 'Time and Tide', her new DVD, 'Into the Light' and she's just begun a major national tour!. Don't think she's hiding herself away!!

  • Thanks for posting this video, a nice rendition of a great song.......don't hear much of Barbara these days

  • Total perfection. A truly GREAT artist
