These dogs are made to be in that weather, weighing in at close to 100lbs, they are big dogs. So really leaving them in that isn't that bad and they use snow as insulation. If they put them inside where the heat im sure has been turned off they would most likely freeze to death inside.True heroes those dogs are. This is my dogs favorite movie :)

they had no room in the plane and if they were left inside, they wouldn't have gotten off their leashes and found food to eat, and theyre also used to the weather so its not too hard for them to survive. but yes it does brake my heart that those dogs were left behind and that this was based on a true story, i would never be able to do that

@damhazitis ik i ball on that scene all the time but it's like a soldier that is wounded and an attepmpt being made under heavy fire it's a tough decision but they would have had to pullout just as they did they had over 200 teams to get out of the area and couldn't spare any planes the small planes are out of comission bc of frost to the engines and the C-130's require a bigger strip to land on as it takes a while to slow them down bc of thier size

@fdrpyahoocom Outside is actually warmer. They didn't leave the heat on in the hut, and the walls by themselves won't do much to keep the cold out. Outside, the dogs can burrow in the snow for extra insulation. Still, I woulda stayed with my dogs...

I would go back on a pair of skies! There's no way in hell you want to leave dogs like that. There to precious. I have a husky and he acts just like those. I'm not a big dog lover but my dog gave me companionship I never even imagined. He's the best and I would go back on a pair of skies if I had to and not think twice about it. If it was another breed I probably wouldn't take the skies. Husky is the only one I will own.

The only problem I and my aunt have ever had with this movie is the gear the dogs wear. No real musher would leave a dog outside in that sort of storm with just a collar on, especially not a buckle collar that can freeze. My aunt has kept dogs all her life, and kept some outside through really bad storms, and she insists that in that situation you would leave the dogs inside if at all possible. If not, you put them in their harnesses so they can't get loose.

On the bright side, this movie is great! Those dogs are so cute! Maya (Pardon if I spell it wrong) is so faithful. All those dogs... I would NEVER be able to leave my dogs, even if they were to come right back.

The doctor is stupid. All for a rock, he risks his life, as well as the dogs' and Jerry. After all, it IS the doctor's fault for all that has happened.

These dogs are literally MADE for the cold. They can endure up to 60 degrees below. To put them inside, where it is warm, would overheat them, killing them in the process. And, actually, these dogs would rather be out in the cold then in the killer warm. They have so much fur that it could kill them if they were to overheat. That is why they leave them outside.

These dogs can stay outside and they're tough. If you read the book about sled dogs, Yukon Quest. If you put them inside they could be injured from stuffs in there, it's not about afraid of making the base dirty, it's about there're many stuffs that could be dangerous for dogs. And this situation always happened in real life.Noone want to leave their dogs but they couldn't help it.

I know it's just a movie but I would've never left my dogs behind, PERIOD!! I would NOT be able to live with myself if I left 'em behind like that. Btw six of the dogs are Siberian Huskies which way around 30 - 40 pounds. And the other two are Alaskan Malamutes which way around 80 - 100 pounds =O.

In my country people also hate these kind of dogs =P Cos they are really active dogs that 'need' to be in places like that pulling sleds etc. But I desperately want one of those dogs!! lol =)
