@ADZ01982 I totally agree! But maybe his role was just to underline the Agent's Cooper amazing character and journey he was set upon in this epic quest? Audrey was beautiful and enchanting, she could have every man but Cooper! An perhaps because as he put it " I care for you Audrey'. He knew that by involving with her he could expose her to the greatest danger.

In one dialog between the two she said to Cooper: '... when I’m grown up and on my own you'd better watch out'.

I am probably the least qualified person who loved it to comment on "Twin Peaks."

I didn't start watching it until the end of the first season. I didn't know about the Agent Cooper/Audrey Horne attraction until I bought the complete set after the show was canceled. When the second season began everything was new to me and since I missed most of the first season, even extra mysterious (?). But I think that scene in which Agent Cooper so awkwardly tried to tell Annie a joke was quite touching.

Obvious SPOILERS:

Well it was compromised when he fell in love with that Heather Graham character. A character viewers had no investment in whatsoever and doesn't hold a candle to Audrey Horne quite frankly. That was dissapointing. Also sad that without the 3rd season it isn't made clear that Audrey didn't die off in such a pathetic indiscriminate manner but was very much alive.

Thank you for the info. I think David Lynch knew the show was going to be cancelled and was determined kill or ruin all the great characters on the show. I think this was partly to get even with the executives and partly to the fans of the show who thought they could dictate how it should be written.

Poor, beautiful Audrey would never be anything but young. She was killed in the explosion in the bank. I know it was only a show, but I felt like I had lost a close friend. I had a kind of patchwork knowledge of the plot because I started watching at the end of the first season. Am I right about the explosion?

Actually, Sherilyn Fenn said in an online chat a few years after the show ended that Audrey was meant to survive the explosion...but sadly, we may never know for sure :(

Cooper so incredibly responsible, like the embodiment of goodness, is one of those things that gave Twin Peaks another edge over all the other series, where screenwriters would give someone like him a slight evil streak.

Cooper being goodness himself also makes the ending of the series that much stronger.

David Lynch was and is still a genius. His Twin Peaks cast and crew were incredible.

My favourite characters also Audrey Horne (her gorgeousness) and Dale Cooper.

Actually, apparently it was Kyle MacLachlan who said that he didn't think Cooper and Audrey should get together. David Lynch was, I think, all for it.

I personally really like Dale and Audrey. I also really like Harry. :)
