Bomber crewmembers went thorugh a special Hell that was handmade for them. They couldn't escape the can. They couldn't run away. The plane was their coffin, their hope, their dreams, and their salvation. No wonder they came out of the war so fucked up but so enlightened and free.
The Final Cut would have been a better album if Rick Wright had played keyboards.Michael Kamen and Andy Bown could almost duplicate his sound but there's only one Rick Wright keyboard sound
yeah but the sound track would be different from the movie i have several sound tracks that dont match plus this segment would have more meaning to pink floyd i
Pink Floyd was not in the original soundtrack, i have the album from '81, and track listing is as follows 1 Heavy Metal-sammy hagar,2 Heartbeat-riggs,3 working in a coal mine- devo, 4 veteran of the psychic war- B.O.C.,5 reach out- Cheap trick,6 Heavy Metal(takin a ride) Don felder, 7 True Companion- Donald Fagen 8 Crazy-Nazerath, 9 radar rider- Riggs, 10 Open arms-journey, 11 Queen Bee- G.F. Railroad, 12 I Must Be Dreamin'- Cheap Trick, 13 the Mob Rules- Black Sabbath, 14 All of you- Don Feld
@weeble29 i forget if it was on vhs or dvd but,... if you check the extras.. you will find that pink floyd was intended to be in it but the move as well as the soundtrack ran to long. It was going to come on between Captain Sternn & gremlins (which became B17) & it was decided to cut them & if i remember, another song as well from another band it is done badly but you can find it on youtube
lol so ya re saying this pink floyd tune is shit ... lol so it means the entire history of music is lesser than shit, when you check some nowadays music ....
@FutureMarine1775USA B-17's did primarily daylight missions, the Brits bombed at night. (sources--wikipedia B-17, and military channel "Wings of WWII"). Cheers.
@TheMilanMiki the green orb also called the lok nar (if i recall correctly) is some evil entity or consciousness, that also has some evil powers turned the dead in to the zombies...
@ynotdrol2 you are a buttplug pink floyd WAS in the original soundtrack although not this song... he was expressing his idea. so, you can like/dislike & if it is not your fancy, change the channel. But, if YOU think you can do better then do it or shutup!
PrankZabba, Okay, I explained this improperly. Pink Floyd WAS to be in the original movie but because the movie became too long the segment with Pink Floyd as well his other songs and segments were removed. I myself did not know this until I had bought the special edition DVD that was available a long long, time ago. If you look online and it takes some time to do it I even had a hard time finding it you will find info on this. I hope this helps.
@mucho this was from Heavy Metal. The song was completely inappropriate. Its not suppose to be symbolic, its suppose to be hardcore brutal death drunken i dont give a fuck die.
Me too, you grew up with this movie too? i saw it on TBS back in 93 when i was 12 with Vampire Hunter D, American Pop, Watership Down, Robot Carnival, Rock and Rule, American pop and Hey Good Looking and loved them all. I even taped Rock and Rule in it's uncut MGM version on video including buying a copy of Vampire Hunter D and Robot Carnival then bought HM in 1996 when i was 15 as i finally saw it uncut and uncensored.
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of you have heard about watching The Wizard of Oz. While listening to The Wall, at least I think thats what it was. Not sure if its a myth but anyway/.... this really goes well, KUDOS. Love this scene.
I'd call it "Gunner's nightmare ". It perfectly fits movie and song. What's horror turns into melancholy because of stupidness of war. I don't know how better is to cut the movie off in the end with a shocked faced pilot.
he looks all shocked because after escaping his zombie ridden plane he finds that the island he is on is litterd with war plane wrecks...as well as hordes of undead solders...
When I wake surrounded by the flak, guns blazing and bullets everywhere, when I die wash me out with a hose, and tell my mama the hero has gone home--my version of Death of a Ball Turret Gunner.
Purely briliant!! this is one of my favorite songs ever created, and it works perfectly with the vid. I honestly like this vid more than the offical vid of the gunners dream. GREAT work im luvin it :)
I love this movie and I love the pink floyd song but I don't think it matches up that much. The first 45 seconds was pretty spot on, and when the dude's guts came out that was synced well. I've experimented a lot with this and concluded the following
Now this is an awesome animated movie for mature audiences, anyone who liked it should check out Pink Floyd The Wall, American Pop, Fire and Ice, Akira and Ralph Bakshi's works.
the glowing orb is taken directly from bombers accounts
they believe the glowing orbs, are NOT UFO's but in fact, Nazi craft, designed to bring down bombers and not be destroyed (i.e. reuseable, not missiles)

Eh, I really see what you're trying to do... I think it's clever.
But this song, REALLY dosen't work with this movie.
Granted, I suppose it kind of does for just this segment.
But... With a movie with the intent of it being a bad ass gore, hot babes, drugs, and kick ass movie. I could understand why people are pissed off.
