What's wrong with people saying that they're proud to be Filipino? I guess some people may not get it, but it's just a Filipino thing to say that kind of comment.
Come on, yeah she's an individual, but for some reason Filipinos feel proud when one of their people are doing well and are usually very supportive.

Dude, Americans do that every time some American does something incredible or when they see something patriotic. Heck, there's even a song called "God Bless the USA" where the chorus is "I'm Proud to be an American" same thing, but no one makes a big deal how annoying it is to hear that.

Filipino are always talking about Thia but it is better to ask her if she consider herself a Filipino and proud to be, She did not even know how to speak the language of her parent origin. I do not know why mostly Filipino parents living outside the Philippines did not teach their siblings the language of their native country.

She shouldn't have been allowed on Idol after being on America's Got Talent. They've kicked people off for having record deals, and this should have been treated the same - she was already starting to be established as an artist. Just looking at some of the comments on here that are about race -- fighting of this sort really alienates the large Muslim population in the Southern Philippines. There are a great deal of Filipinos who faithfully practice Islam, so calling people of Middle Eastern descent terrorists for being Muslim is a great offense to those people.

She shouldn't have been allowed on Idol after being on America's Got Talent. They've kicked people off for having record deals, and this should have been treated the same - she was already starting to be established as an artist. Luckily this didn't cause her to have an unfair advantage over the other contestants.

Just looking at some of the comments on here that are about race -- fighting of this sort really alienates the large Muslim population in the Southern Philippines. There are a great deal of Filipinos who faithfully practice Islam, so calling people of Middle Eastern descent terrorists for being Muslim is a great offense to those people.
As far as Thia -- there are so many more talented Filipinos than her! I wish they could be discovered.
