People put way too much weight in how wide of a range a singer has. Having a wide range does NOT automatically equate to a good singer. The ability to USE your range properly and cleanly is what determines if you're a good singer. So don't say that since Georgia's range is wider, than she is better. It hurts my ears (and my throat for that matter) to hear Georgia sing those high notes. Mariah, on the other hand, sounds like a bird chirping. =)

Georgia has the range but i prefer mariah's whistle because mariah has more control and maturity in her voice. Range is not the issue, it is the ability to do whistles. Mariah's case shows control and finesse. I dont hate Georgia, it is just some issue of preference.

In terms of sheer range Georgia Brown rules supreme, but it seems to me that both singers tend to forget that singing (as all music) is about emotion first of all. Technique should only be a means to an end. Minnie Riperton was able to enunciate clearly in the whistle register and sustain such notes very long. She could also interpret a ballad without sounding tacky or vulgar.
