We really did have it all didn't we. I was 15 when this record came out.and loved it. Still sounds fresh and so relevant. What a brilliant lead voice. Finally got my own copy of the 45 a couple of years ago - and play it when I need inspiration - excuse the pun.
Had the pleasure watching TRM sing this brilliant song at The Amersham Rock and Roll club on a few occasions over the last couple of years. He's a true gent and I will be there when he's next performing.
Hi Ed, Thanks for the Cupids flattery and thank you YouTube too! Kettering is where we did our first 'Demo Recording' that got it all going for us. The tall lanky one with the big hair would be lead guitarist Wyndham George. The Sunday Mirror did a spread on at the time.
We are planning a REUNION GIG for round about March 2012 in Stamford, would be lovely to see friends and dare I say it 'FANS' there!
We used to come home from a club at about 1am and we would be singing this song at the top of our voices, maybe we really believed the lyrical content....however..this song is so good its makes my soul just ache to go back to this wonderful innocent period...when classics like this were coming from every speaker in town.
@PhilK116 No, this is the original line up from Stamford, Lincs. The later version with Gordon was, I think based in Leamington Spa but was a case of the management keeping the name when the original band members wanted to do something different. The singer is Terry Rice-Milton (or Terry Bull to his mum!) who had a great voice. I'm friends with the bass player Laughton James (Jim Laughton) and guitarist Wyndham George (Jeff Hart) sporting the wonderful afro!
The most important song EVER. Forget silly love songs. This is about what life is really about. Get on with your life now. Make your future happen. Teddy Randazzoh who wrote this said "It's to late to live when you are dead" Teddy Randazzo, singer/songwriter who wrote more than 600 songs, died on Nov. 21 2003 Cause of death was not released. He was 68. I so wish I had met him. magic. talent or what!
Brilliant song, brilliant singer, powerful and gets you "right there"!! Glad to see you are still going strong Terry....you have so many fans out there....
Great record one of my absolute favourites from the 60's, and what a singer Terry RM is. Sounds just as great after all these years. I think the song was either written by or produced by Jimmy Duncan who was the brother of the great Lesley Duncan.
You have to keep coming back to remind yourself how good it is - just awesome and TRM singing it with Amen Corner shows the voice is still brilliant!!!

@terry11821 Sorry Fritz, Cupid's were in Hamburg 28th August '68 for Beat Club! The other date was for a different show altogether. Can you help us trace the original footage of Beat Club please? Many thanks,Terry.
@terry11821 I remember when I lived in Broad St and you did a public appearance on the market, I was only 5. I used to work with Jim and Geoff in Owl Records and am still in regular touch with Jim: he doesn't change!
@daleuno Hi, Terry R-M here! Lovely to hear from you and sharethe 'Market' moment with us, and to know that you are still in touch with Jim, me too! We are doing our best to arrange a Cupid's Reunion gig in Stamford soon
ps The Leamington Spa lot were well after Gordon, we were all based in the London area up to the time I left. Roger Gray ( Drummer) was actually the last of the original Cupid's and he played with the Leamington Boys for a while.
@terry11821 ---Hi --Due to the wonderful You Tube Ive found one of my all time favourite tracks. --My name is Ed Im from Kettering and i have clear memories of seeing Cupids Inspiration many times during the late sixties and early seventies. I also remember your dynamic live version of Yesterday Has Gone & i seem to remember you doing a blistering version of River Deep Mountain High ?? --and If Im not mistaken you had a tall lanky bass player with big hair ??? --lol Very best wishes from Ed
I'd confidently say that music has regressed since 1968. The Cupid Inspiration and their excellent lead singer, Terry Rice-Milton seemed to have attained the pinnacle of sound and creative self expression. I enjoyed this number and it doesn't leave me. I keep coming back over to this and it feels alive, true and full of emotion, the way good music ought to be.
Well, i appear to be about 40 years behind everyone else, but i am glad to finally catch you all up! The song is brilliant, the video great fun, and, in my opinion, i think the song should be re-released.
My uncle Roger played drums in this great song,Thanks for the video. My mom would of loved to see this clip and was very proud of her brothers music achievements. What a great voice TRM has.All the best to you Uncle Roger "if you see this" and the great people in midland England.
My lord!! I remember hearing this song on the radio and being trully gobsmacked - I honestly thought Terry that you were black - your voice is soo soulful :). I absolutely adore it and still hear it regularly played on the radio and it still sounds fab! One of the best songs of the sixties in my opinion! Brill!
Terry what a great song, its on a par with My World,im always playing a cassette i bought of all the hits, only this morning Bryan Matthew played never trust in tomorrow by another group, nowhere near as good as your version. Thanks for all the great songs, great memories
I was 16 then.......... just an amazing time to be a teenager.......... sadly no longer a teenager.Doh!! but the memories are still as fresh as it was then... It's the kinda of music that made Carnaby St. famous Mike
Once again, I feel bound to respond to those of you who take the time to comment. I can only speak for myself of course but I am sure that the other Cupids feel the same as I do and would not mind me thanking you on their behalf. We are hopeful of organizing a reunion 'gig' or am I just 'living in the past'... 'givin in to what I feel inside'. Sorry, can't help myself...now that's another song completely!
@terry11821 HelloTerry, what fabulous news, yes please, do let us know if you manage to organise reunion gig... let us all go back to 'living in the past' and what we all feel inside! I really think you should re-release this song right now as it is the inspiration that we have always needed, especally these days... lots of love
@terry11821 How wonderful it would be to actually see the band responsible for this piece of wonderful music history, to 60s was a truly inspiring time for many people, and the chance to see you guys perform would be magic. Looking at all the comments here it would seem I am certainly not in the minority, "if not now when? if not you who"? come on Terry make us all happy do the gig, please!
Hi Terry & the Band. Loved the song for many years but never seen any footage...till now. Great performance. Yes, such a big voice / big sound in keeping the movement circa 1968 (Puckett; Amen; Love Affair et al.). Well done and cheers.
Such an inspirational song, I haven't heard it for years, and I just started singing it in the kitchen lol....Great to find it on here...power up people this song really lifts the vibes xxx
Hi tenrecords, lvemedo, procamp9000,Sandy4111,Meeeeeeee8eeeeee and all you other 'discerning contributors' over the years. Cannot thank you enough for 'bigging up' Cupid's and yours truly as you do, if you enjoy the performance half as much as we enjoyed making it then we enjoyed it twice as much as ....I don't know where I'm going with this but it is too late to stop now. Wivlotsanlotsaluv, Terry R-M.
@terry11821 Hello Terry - You are an inspiration yourself! Please let us know about your 'gigs', it would be wonderful to know when and where we can see you. All the very best and lots of luv.
Fantastic band, this is a song I defy anyone to tire of,uplifting in every sense of the word.Try and get the album 'Yesterday has Gone' 1969. its excellent still playing it strong sfter 41 years. SUPERB!!!!
Thank you for coming to see us Terry, nice surprise. I was looking through an old JACKIE Comic from the 1960's and there you were, talking to the magazine about swimming trunks....I had to smile....anyway keep up the great singing as always, and dont forget you have many fans...
Hello you lovely people. Terry Rice-Milton here, yes, still going strong, stronger than ever in fact, after reading all that has been said about Cupid's Inspiration's performance of what, even 40 or so years on,is still a fantastic song.
I just had to reply to all the great messages and to thank you for the wonderful compliments over the years. I am absolutely 'blown away' by it all!
Yea that's me 'Living A Lifetime In Each Minute'. Lotsanlotsaluv to you all!
@Pumplekin1 Hello Pumplekin tell Del that Bernie and I would love to hear from him. If he goes on line to Ancestor Gateway Forum, Stamford, Cupid's Inspiration Page2 and makes a posting ,saying he wants to get in touch. It will happen.
@terry11821 Hi Fritz. Thank you for your kind comments and also for posting the video in the first place. I remember how well we were looked after in hamburg. Dave Lee Travis came to meet us at the AirportAll the very best to you too!
Hi Rockincolin. Nice to hear from you. I am still doing the odd gig or two. In fact may just be doing even more in the not too distant!
@terry11821 Thanks for this particular song,it was an integral part of my growing up not to mention the influence the lyrics had on everyone that heard it, it ranks along all the other classic songs we have been fortunate enough to enjoy over the years. You created a piece of pop history with this stunning song, your vocals are superb the song is sublime, thanks again.
@terry11821 I love 'Yesterday Has Gone'- what a timeless piece of music, (and for the record, I weren't even born when it come out!) I especially love the line: "It's too late to live when you are dead"- (NEVER a truer word spoken!) If there's one thing this song's taught me, it's to live for the here and now. Much obliged! Peace and love! Be lucky! :)
@terry11821 Terry great to hear from you I still have the 45 here in New Zealand since I bought in 68 nothing to play it on mind you but cannot let go of it as it is amazing
@terry11821 My hero - after 50 years of listening to any music i think you made yhe ultimate pop record - its just a combination of voice, lyrics and backing all coming together in an awesome record
@terry11821 Ha Terry that line you sing " time is wastin and well soon be old." how true was that eh my friend......This was one of the best songs of the 60s.......good to see you are alive and kicking and "Thanks" for a great iconic tune
@terry11821 when this song came out i was working as a painter in a girls school in maida vale.......the girls had this record playing all the time.....they had great taste....
I was 10 years old when this song came out & I love it today as much as I ever did. I'm well chuffed to see it on here! Thank you so much for poting this.
a great song , must admit remember first listening to it and thinking it was a black guy , i remember this song used to remind me of the westerns that were around at the time with lee van cleef
this must be the first time ive heard this for at least forty years -does anyone else think he really sounds like Chris Farlowe -and also remember a very similar song from the same time titled The River Is Wide by another lo9st band called The Forum?
@jamesrachael no suprise JAMES i,m addicted as we all are JUST A BRILLIANT SONG performed by TERRY & THE GUY,S it drags you back time after time I,M PROUD TO BE A BRIT

@blossomsquirrel
As a lover of symphonic rock, I think that the orchestral / brass sound adds greater depth
to this record. Eloise by Paul and Barry Ryan is another example of the use of heavy orchestration.
Both classics in my opinion.
Terry Rice-Milton is certainly one of the most underrated vocalists in the history of popular music.

My lord!! I remember hearing this song on the radio and being trully gobsmacked - I honestly thought Terry that you were black - your voice is soo soulful :). I absolutely adore it and still hear it regularly played on the radio and it still sounds fab! One of the best songs of the sixties in my opinion! Brill!

Sorry, can't help myself...now that's another song completely!
terry11821 1 year ago

Always loved this one though I was about born when it came out. The Koobas foolishly turned the song down. Silly boys, nice trousers though.
Just listening to the Cupid's Inspiration LP - great stuff. 'Sweet Music' indeed.

Hi Terry & the Band. Loved the song for many years but never seen any footage...till now. Great performance. Yes, such a big voice / big sound in keeping the movement circa 1968 (Puckett; Amen; Love Affair et al.). Well done and cheers.

Be lucky! :)
