Well, there are some reasons this program is a nice alternative. 1. It's 100% free. 2. It's web-based and runs on any system with Flash. 3. It's more accessible than Game Maker. Those are some of the main reasons. This would be an excellent program for kids to use because it's so accessible, especially with the pre-made game templates that can be so easily changed to create completely unique experiences.

If you were to actually take a peek at the website, you would see that many of the games are more complex and some are actually impressive given the limitations of the program. Beautiful graphics are not a necessity for a fun experience and to learn about the basics of game design.
