    both amazing....RIP

  • Great jazz! Have a soft spot for this tune. ACcording to jazz history, it was written by my Uncle, Walter Melrose,,,Whether or not, you do a fantastic job on it...

  • Was Walter Melrose related to Frank Melrose?

  • Yes, they were brothers. Lester, was also my uncle. They owned Melrose Publishing Co, but my father was not involved in the business.

  • It was written by the New Orleans Rhythm Kings in 1923, and all 8 band members had a hand in it. It was resurrected in 1953 by Jo Stafford as a pop hit called "Make Love to Me."

  • RIP Humph, part of me went with you.

  • Thank you Humphrey.

I'll never get tired of listening to you!

  • RIP Humphrey Lyttelton

  • No more Mornington Crescent. A sad day for comedy and for Jazz.

  • humph in peace

  • rip

  • I met him and his band at the Tower Arts Theatre in Winchester tonight. The gig was brilliant, the guy's like 86, but still so good!

  • ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING

  • Good stuff! Fabulous trombone! And great to hear Humph still, at this time, prepared to tackle traditional material. This tune is one of my all time favourites, and I always end up judging a band by how well I think it does with it! The 'trick,' in my view, is avoiding 'lumpiness' in the accompaniment (which, to be honest, I don't think they do here entirely) but, nevertheless, I think it works well overall, particularly the intro, which is beautifully measured.

  • What a great 'bone man!

Love this tune - played by a fabulous band.

I take it that the band comes from Haarlem in Holland - yes?

    And Humph is great!
