Those Ellie scenes are like a punch in the stomach. I guess none of that would ever be allowed on soaps today. It's too bad Ellie and Kirk had to end this way. Who was playing her doctor? He looks familiar.
This must be the closest Margo and Barbara ever were to having the same hairstyle. The last scene when Adam wants to see his father (Tom, but a reminder of Hal) - great.
I really think Heather Rattray did a good job with this material.
Late 1992 was clearly a time of great joy in Oakdale.
@CarlD2 Maybe the only way the abortion could happen is as a conclusion to the Andersons' marriage. I'd never expect as much focus on the issue as Margo ending Casey's life, but the show could have dealt with it in 1992. It would have been very interesting to have them both agree to the procedure with satisfaction, only to face conflict from Angel and Lily, who had their own baby troubles.
You're right about the gloom. Exciting developments, but not much cheer until Andy's wedding.
@Oakdalian I do wonder where the story could have gone if it had had more of a role within the Snyder family. I can't help noticing just how isolated Ellie is from everyone in these scenes. Aside from some recurring characters for the hospital scenes, she is just with Kirk. I wonder if Renee was already pretty much gone. I know there was some rumor she didn't want to work with Jon Hensley.
I think the doctor is the same guy who was Holden's doctor in NYC.

@scottholmesfan They're different actors.

This seems to be two episodes. I think the doctor was played by the same actor who played Allie's second husband on Kate & Allie.

Oh, and can you imagine the poor telemarketers who call up Angel?
"Why yes, I do want to take a survey. It's like a report card. I'm never going to see a report card, because I can't have children. Hello? Hello?"
