Great video example! Nice netbooks, I converted one of these from 8GB SD to 160GB hard drive, had to cut out part of the frame but it worked out nice and you couldn't tell from the outside at all that it was modified. It was a nightmare tho... This looks good man!

@FranksTechHelp yeah, I have done the same.. took the drive from an external drive. I soldered in wires from a regular sata connector, since the SSD version didnt have the connector. Have also soldered in internal usb hub, bluetooth 2.o w/ edr, etc.

where did you find the drivers for the webcam (vista)?

I found it on windowsupdate, the same goes for wired lan. WLAN worked out of the box.

y u didnt get the xp one with 120,160 gb of hdd i have 120 gb space xp and i partition my hard drive for dual booting

it looks like it only has the vista startup screen. everything else looks like xp. that's probably why we couldn't hear the startup sounds because it was still xp.

Looks like you dont know what your talking about.

The reason it "looks like vista" is because it's a VLITE Vista, a stripped down vista, which I further removed everything which was not needed.

It is INDEED Vista Ultimate edition, strpped down with VLITE.

Well i have heard about vista lite, but doesn't it have vista aero or what? The only vista lites i have seen actually LOOK like vista. I know what I am talking about.

i just installed vista ultimate today but i got the 160gb version. i want to install another 1gb of memory but would 667mhz use more power than 533mhz? if so would there be much difference?

ram is only to run programs fast you can still run vista with 1 gb of ram i know some people with alien ware cpu with 8 gb of ram it just read only memory

no. there are no spare slots like, pci or pci-e or agp. so you cant.

Yes, you can also game RTCW, GTA IV, etc.

I disabled everything though, mostly so I could get as much as possible on the small screen.

Aero takes more pixels and I dont really need it.

I use this PC to map my megasquirt EFI.

I did pretty much the same thing with my Aspire One but with Windows XP Professional SP3. The result wasn't too good. As Windows XP is very HDD access demanding, every time the computer had to access the HDD, it froze until the HDD stopped being accessed. Appart from that, the CPU and RAM seem to perform outstandingly fast.

Yes, you have to turn off shadow copying, indexing, swap, etc.

I know, not ideal for performance.. :P

I've been thinking about putting an extremely fast SD card in the slot at the left, as rumor has it this is connected directly to the PCI bus...

then one could use that for swap.

However, I think I want to upgrade to a regulr hd.. maybe 1.8" ZIF Microdrive?

Hi there can you help me please? i just got my Aser One today and im looking to put more memory in here seeing as i only got 512MB just asking if you know if i can put a 2GB one in and what memory do i need to get?

im running XP on mine and works so good it even runs games like Lego Star Wars lol

Hi, the chipset only supports 2Gb in total.

Since there is 512Mb soldered on the mainboard, this means you cant fit a 2Gb memorystick.

I tried with a 2Gb corsair one, but I had to return it at hte shop and I got a 1Gb one.

Then it booted fine :-)

Everything except wired lan came in at once, but wired lan came with windowsupdate. Also I havent gotten the cam to work, but I have some Asus official drivers to test (its on theire ftp)

Yes everything works superb. Installed vista ultimate and drivers from intel site for the chipset and video.

Aero works full and system has a score value of 2.7

1gb ram

120 gb disk

1.6 atom

Yet vista has trouble with taskbar if you check autohide it repains with a mind on its own :)

ah 120gb its not SSD... ok then. Mine is SSD 8gb.
