  • is it just me or i think that the cheshire cat here looks really kawaii....

  • god damn it why is it cut off??

  • Carl Segan rules.

  • There's always this stigma that scientists have to be cold and unemotional, and yet, you never see that to be true.

Scientists, particularly Astronomers, practically double as poets. Especially people like Sagan. Every time I hear this guy talk about science, I just get this warm fuzzy feeling, and I can't help but feel love the universe and everything in it.

  • Basically, what I'm saying is that Astronomers are better at logic AND creativity.

    Suck it, other disciplines.

  • only Goku would resist so many G's

  • Curiouser and curiouser.

  • I hate how these are all cut off.

  • i have 4d cock

  • welcome to the 3 g's oof my life

welcome to the 3 g club

  • I love it when Carl Sagan ostentatiously brandishes his grandiloquence through bombastic circumlocution.

  • @gaaramonkeyx For those of you wondering, he just said he likes it when Carl shows off his IQ by using big words.

  • holy shit dd this guy just tell me what a black hole is :O

  • @AwsomnessStudios

More what it does than what it is.

  • And the Cheshire cat just doesn't give a f*ck.

  • One of Carl Sagan's quotes was shown in class today. Love him!!

  • @astronivo20XX

we watched one of his videos about the galactic calender.

  • I love how he makes science accessible to the common person without being patronizing.

  • I actually lost it for a second because I've been thumbing down the stuff on my "Recommended for You!" list that I don't actually like, and so I decided to click something I knew I wanted to tell Dorktube I actually *like* (like it couldn't tell from the trillion times I've watched this?)... and then I heard Carl.

    .

... and everything just kind of made sense.

    ;-)

  • it's great how the Cheshire cat gets away with hyper-gravity...

  • this is freaky

  • Every single map of the universe or galaxy that you see shows the stars as being level. It's only because of convinience and logic that it's like that.

Look at subway maps. They're made so they're logical instead of showing the exact route through the city (which is called creative).

  • ************* O

    *************

Is that ^^^^by convenience too or are they really on the same plane? cause im pretty sure they are on different lines unless your talking about planes of existence or dimensions your crazy

  • When you talk about a "level plane" are you talking about dimensions?

  • @parkerlovesmusic but space-time is three dimensional.. the stars are sitting at the centre of their gravity in not just 2 dimensions as you see in his example, but along a third dimension up and down (if you can picture that). Think of it as a giant 3-d grid, with the stars sitting in their hollow and attracting through their gravity from *every* direction.

  • actually every explanation and examples that we see on discovery channel or naitonal geographic are taken form this great man thanks to him i cna understand a lot of things

  • "I've been to a couple of parties like that myself." Ha!

  • Its true, man.

  • believe it. in the mr. x essay, he describes a time when he was fucking his wife in the shower while high as shit, and came up with "an idea on the origins and invalidities of racism in terms of gaussian distribution curves."

while still fucking his wife, he drew out the curves in soap on the shower wall, finished his shower, and within an hour had written 11 essays about the idea

    carl sagan owns owns owns

  • @cotchery -- Can you imagine what Mr. Sagan would be like at a party!? Oh my God! Either a mood killer, or that awkward guy that makes the whole party worthwhile hahahah! (I don't mean that demeaningly.... But, really, though. Think about it haha)

  • @nthomas87 Nah, sagan smoked alot of weed, he'd be chill.

  • @nthomas87

Read his remarks on cannabis on his Wikiquotes page. I don't think he could be a killjoy with the sensible attitude he showed to cannabis.

  • 20 years and carl is still by far the most elequent individual ever to set foot on our earth.

  • @googoo120 oh def agreed man, he is my hero

  • @googoo120 15 years. People like him are so rare and important that their absence is counted.

  • @googoo120 eloquent; ftfy

  • it the best

  • Wish it cou|d have continued, but that really is just very cool.

  • same here, went and downloaded the entire series, might buy the dvd later this week

  • witch series is this?

  • @frankyh101: Carl Sagan's Cosmos. If you go to Hulu and search Cosmos, you will find the entire series. One of the most thought provoking and awe inspiring shows you will find despite it's age.

  • @frankyh101 Cosmos
