Not doubting that you got the shiny legitimately, but there are shiny codes that require you to hold a specific button combination when entering a battle to make the poke shiny. Therefore, your "proof" really isn't proof at all, to be honest. Again, I believe you did in fact get that shiny legitimately and I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I'm just throwing that knowledge out there.

@486PokeMan Indeed, and neither did I... but I loved its shiny form so much. I was amazed at the IVs + nature as well. Even with the proof in the video, there are people out there who won't believe it... mostly trolls, of course. It was intense, and I'm pretty sure it still has Dragon Pulse, Calm Mind, Rest and Sleep Talk. It's been stuck away in a box ever since I trained it.

I have a theory that all balls work better if you use your starter pokemon/highest lvl pokemon. I noticed that you used a lot of pokeballs with smeargle, if you switched back to empoleon, you may have noticed different results, but none the less, congrats! Plus you had a ralts so you were guaranteed the nature you wanted!

I don't get what you mean about eyes wide open... ? Yes, Palkia and Dialga have the same catch rate (30/255) as Chansey, Chatot, etc... very high for legendaries.
congratz i was soft reset on my friends platinum i bought from him and he was in the distortion world so i beat cyrus and thought ill soft reset for shiny giratina so about 20 soft resets later i was doing my english project and i see giratina blue and i scream omg like a million times but i threw a masterball cause i had only 10 ultra balls =P

Yep, but in this case I forgot to make room in my party for it to appear once caught - in my Second Shiny Giratina video, I saw it in Origin Forme straight away.
I chose Dusk Balls for their appearance, not their catch rate. Plus it was very unlikely that all those Dusk Balls failed... I've easily (less than 20 turns) caught Registeel and Azelf (same catch rate) in Premier/Luxury Balls respectively, which have the lowest catch rate, 1.
Random shinies are indeed lucky, but it depends - how many non-shiny Pokemon had you seen in your entire Pokemon career before that happened? Surely more than the 100 you saw then.

Freezing is hax too... why bother having it in the first place, anyway? There's no sure-fire way of freezing, so...
You'd be surprised what can happen... if you look at the catch-rate formula you can calculate the chance of capture. I had an 11% or so chance to catch with each Dusk Ball... over 40 failed >_>. Don't feel bad if yours isn't shiny... not many have shiny ones anyway.

Actually I once was - THRICE: shiny Rhyhorn in FR/LG's Safari Zone RAN from me, shiny Lairon on Victory Road in Emerald ROARED at me, and shiny Miltank appeared in Emerald's Safari Zone when I only had THREE Safari Balls left! X(
Well, those are very unlucky times you've had - seriously, that's insane. You must hate your luck. My bad luck kind of counteracted the luckiness of the shiny.
Well, my shiny QUIET Dialga makes up for it mostly. As a matter of fact, out of 51 of my shiny encounters so far that I know of, those are my only three failures. :(
Um, Quiet nature REDUCES SPEED. I consider that quite a negative, since Speed is an essential stat. Also, my shinies all have perfect natures without important stats reduced; but I'm too lucky. Therefore, I understand you're happy with a somewhat decent nature :P.
Speed isn't everything, especially considering attacks like aqua jet, sucker punch, bide, etc. So in essence my Dialga does have an excellent nature. I can see if it were something like a Crobat....and then there's choice scarf to make up for any speed problems....
Sorry if I sounded like an elitist and if I do with this comment, I apologize... but these are cold, hard facts: Speed is important, ESPECIALLY in Uber battles. Choice Scarf is so common that you need high speed to outrun opposing Choice Scarfers. The only priority move common in Ubers is Bullet Punch, which Dialga resists anyway. But anyway, those are facts... please don't get angry at me or anything. I feel bad that I sound like I'm tearing you down or something. I'm not.
Oh no; I didn't take it that way at all. I see exactly what you're saying; and now that I realize all of what you said, I understand more. Fortunately for me, this Dialga will NEVER battle; it is merely for show and MAYBE for trade one day....
Okay, cool that you understood my barrage of info! I'd never keep a shiny away from battling, but I guess you have some reason to leave it untouched. If you do decide to trade it one day, keep me in mind as I have plenty of awesome Pokemans, including shinies.

@KittyKat90 I may have been lucky with this shiny, but my second shiny Giratina took 11,628 SRs and 1.5 months of my life. Well, I'm glad I gave some hope or something.

The music which was played at the failures was great! What's da name? Btw great shiny, I loved Shiny Giratina and I SR'd about 900 times for it, but I gave up after all... I would like to try again soon I reach there again :D

@DrDimentio Yup, but now I seem to not give up that easy. I got over 3100 encounters for a shiny Zubat while everyone is actually getting it random xD
I'm gonna play platinum, reach at Giratina and try it again without failure >:D

you really like to waste time don't you? i mean,doing all those resets and catching it the old way each time? must have taken several hours...just use the master ball lol,that's what i do cause it's way faster and i can't be bothered to play it fair when it's already hard enough to get good stats anyway

@SirenoftheVoid I have no idea what you're talking about - why the hell would I catch any of the 1835 non-shiny ones? I reset my game as soon as a non-shiny Giratina appears. This took only about 2 days in total.

I chose Dusk Balls for their appearance, not their catch rate. Plus it was very unlikely that all those Dusk Balls failed... I've easily (less than 20 turns) caught Registeel and Azelf (same catch rate) in Premier/Luxury Balls respectively, which have the lowest catch rate, 1.

When your game corrupts it erases. If you started a new game then evidently it would take you years to find all shinies.
I wouldn't unless of course everything turned boring. I like the music.

Random shinies are indeed lucky, but it depends - how many non-shiny Pokemon had you seen in your entire Pokemon career before that happened? Surely more than the 100 you saw then.

Yes, a fainted Synchronizer works but mine was alive, mainly because I felt more reassured. Lol, nice job using Mudkip... does it get False Swipe?

(Unlucky? I'm ALWAYS unlucky in Pokemon... for example during the Video Game Championships Qualifiers when, after a long debate, I finally decided against a Sleep Talker only to be swept by a Smeargle & cohorts while my non-competitive-battling friend fought a bunch of newbs and made it to the freaking finals. -_- And there's been worse...)

Well, that's not so much luck as ineffective intuition. I, however, did get unlucky in a tournament this year... Double battles, opponent's Blizzard crits both my Pokes, freezes my Metagross... eventually unfreezes and then misses with Meteor Mash... I ended up losing, quarter finals.

You'd be surprised what can happen... if you look at the catch-rate formula you can calculate the chance of capture. I had an 11% or so chance to catch with each Dusk Ball... over 40 failed >_>. Don't feel bad if yours isn't shiny... not many have shiny ones anyway.

Actually I once was - THRICE: shiny Rhyhorn in FR/LG's Safari Zone RAN from me, shiny Lairon on Victory Road in Emerald ROARED at me, and shiny Miltank appeared in Emerald's Safari Zone when I only had THREE Safari Balls left! X(

Well, my shiny QUIET Dialga makes up for it mostly. As a matter of fact, out of 51 of my shiny encounters so far that I know of, those are my only three failures. :(

Um, Quiet nature REDUCES SPEED. I consider that quite a negative, since Speed is an essential stat. Also, my shinies all have perfect natures without important stats reduced; but I'm too lucky. Therefore, I understand you're happy with a somewhat decent nature :P.

Speed isn't everything, especially considering attacks like aqua jet, sucker punch, bide, etc. So in essence my Dialga does have an excellent nature. I can see if it were something like a Crobat....and then there's choice scarf to make up for any speed problems....

Sorry if I sounded like an elitist and if I do with this comment, I apologize... but these are cold, hard facts: Speed is important, ESPECIALLY in Uber battles. Choice Scarf is so common that you need high speed to outrun opposing Choice Scarfers. The only priority move common in Ubers is Bullet Punch, which Dialga resists anyway. But anyway, those are facts... please don't get angry at me or anything. I feel bad that I sound like I'm tearing you down or something. I'm not.

If you're talking about Dialga, then any of the 4 sp.atk+ natures: Modest, Rash, Mild, or Quiet; seeing as its sp.atk. is its highest stat. :)
