Just been watching the movie of Telstar - I believe that they used this very street to film scenes on....imagine renting those same flats out & immersing yourself in the joys & pains of everything that ever happened there? The movie had me in tears at the end though....thanks for posting this up although I may just drop down for a touch of the building to say i've been there.... ;-) bless you Joe, your music will always inspire me. xxx
Joe Meek bought a Sobell portable TV from Jones Bros [part of John Lewis] just up the road from his studio and I installed it sometime in the sixtys. Heinz was sitting on the settee signing a contract and my memory of the place was seeing a carpet of recording tape covering the floor and the kitchen sink piled high with dirty cockery.
Very cool... I used to live very, very close to that flat for many years. Now I own a "Joe Meek Floor-Q optical compressor" (guitar FX pedal) I new Joe Meek lived in that block but never new which number... Thanks for posting this bit of audio history.

How amazing that all those wonderful sounds came from that building. What a maverick Joe Meek was. Who's likes, we will never see again! RIP Joe.
