He sped Someday up, pitched it up and chopped out four lines.

He slowed How You Remind Me down, pitched it down and chopped out twelve lines including an interlude, the entire last verse, and four of the last five lines.

I call that heavy editing personally.

I'm sure you could achieve a similar effect using the same techniques on other pop-rock/metal bands that people don't make fun of as much as they do Nickelback.

@reluctable you could also say that nickelback took someday, sped it up, transposed it up (a simple musical operation that can be done on computer program with a few clicks) and came up with a couple of new lines. yes, a lot of bands do this too, and its really fucking annoying. this one is particularly bad because unlike a lot of other bands the melody and atmosphere of the two songs are also extremely similar. they just took the same four chords and whiny melody and regurgitated it.
