  • Thats the oddest resolution i've seen since a long time.

  • Unreal Tournament doesnt look that good. The Unreal tournament 99 was better. This is just like weird.

  • ur mac sux i can play max at that fps and i got a p4

  • That runs smoother than my Windows 7 laptop... lucky

  • Sure looks like a cheater. Well

Good on the point of showing that a macbook 15 can play this game with quality. But dumb enough to show the cheat!!!

  • too lame playn'

  • Loving the FPS of the text when it says made on a mac, so pro!

  • LOL! "Loving the FPS of the text"? WTF?

Anyways, good video. There's nothing wrong with Mac OS X or the hardware, it runs games fast and smooth. It's just lazy ass game developers who can't bother to make ports for Mac. At least Valve has come to their senses now with their whole game library and steam.

  • @JoeyRamonerulz Yeah dude, seriously!

  • how well will this game run (and what graphics settings) on a sony vaio laptop which has:

    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.56GHz

    8Gb DDR2-800 PC6400 RAM

512Mb ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650

    Vista Home 32bit

    ???

    Thanks

  • how music is called at 00:00-01:22?

  • Cheater an die Wand wir haben dich längst erkannt...

  • he doesn't take damage ?? wtf ! cheating ? maybe ,cause this is not pro

  • it's just for demonstrating the power of the macbook pro. If he died every two seconds it would suck.

  • Mhhhhh Pro!!!!!! Your a fucking chater

  • not bad

  • wtf? I've got the same macbook pro but with 2gb stock ram and I hardly run ut3 beta demo (the same game) on 800*600. If i get larger resolution it all starts to lag.

  • something is wrong with your computer, i got the same one as u. and im running fine on 1400*900 resolution.

  • fuck chetaer

  • I have the same problem, i have a MBP 2.4ghz, 2gb stock ram, 160gb hdd and 8600m gt 256mb; running in bootcamp/clamshell mode through a Dell S2409W 24" monitor. Anything above 800x600 i get really bad lag.

  • There is something wrong with your computer, Im not on a MBP but im running on an older notebook, 2ghz, 3gb Ram , 167 gb and Nvidia 7600gForce and I can run at 1024 x 800 or about that I think.

Take it to the Mac Store

  • do u overclock the graphics card? cause if u don't i recommend it, a vast improvement of performance in games with the expense of a little more heat but its fine.

  • How do you overclock a mobile part, what a silly idea. They are normally close to their tolerances already. Not a smart idea at all.

  • its very easy to overclock (not that im gonna go into it right here and right now) but yeah... err i think u are slightly wrong there with my friend..try actually having the facts in mind before u make pointless comments like this. Do u know what apple clocks there 8600m gt at? huh.. well sorry but they are not even at nvidias stock clock for the chip so im sorry to say but ur oh so very wrong on that..just don't go saying things that u don't know the actual facts about -.-

  • and lastly i do have this exact laptop and have been overlocking for some time and personally the benefits by far outweigh the disadvantages. u get far (and yes!) better performance gaming wise, a little more heat which can be easily controlled and if your gonna say "well it shortens the life"..its no significant amount and by the time uv had the laptop for 3 years generally speaking most people get a new one as laptops aren't really future proof.

  • My pc cant even handle those settings. Nice

  • first off, is that vista or xp and is it 32 or 64 bit? I'm getting xp home edition and was wondering if it is worth upgrading to 4gb of ram from 2gb. Second, is it worth the upgrade?

    Thanks

  • it would be worth upgrading from 32 to 64 but 64 is full of bugs. most applications are made for 32 bit and cant run on 64 bit either.

i heard vista 64 bit is a little more stable but im unsure. im talking about 64 bit XP.

  • its fucking xp u fag says he is on bootcamp running xp in the comment box at the side

  • does it COD 4work for a macbook?!?!?

  • yep if you have xp or vista running on it

  • hah mac user get real

  • CHEATAAA!!!!

  • as long as he is not cheating online then cheating is fine.

  • Will It Only Run A MacBook Pro Or Will It Also Run on A MacBook?

  • At end failed to say was running windows so then it was a windows computer pretty much at that point because all the part inside are the same. Plus for my shooters and FPS I like 60+ FPS for smooth crosshair action. Not bad for a laptop but there are laptops around same cost that game wise will blow that one out the water that have two 8800GT in SLI and faster CPUs. Heat, Laptop, And gaming dont mix well thought.

  • Question about heat during serious gameplay. How do you find the MacBook Pro performs with dissipating heat during long gameplay sessions? I can't help but think of the big fans on video cards for towers compared to the shared heat pipe and tiny fans in the notebook. Have you seen any issues in long periods of gameplay, with regards to heat? I just bought a new MacBook Pro and don't want to fry it!

  • u got gddr3 right i have 512mb 8600m gt but i dunno if it is gddr2 or gddr3

  • Do you have the Macbook Pro? If you do, regardless if the VRAM, all of them are GDDR3.

  • i dunno should i get 250gb harddrive 7200rpm

or should i get 320gb with 5400rpm i am stuck on this situation...

  • i would go for the one with 320 gigs

7200 rpm kinda makes a lot of noise,

u wont be able notice the difference anyway.

    well thats just me.

  • o and do u think the graphics are better than the 360 or the ps3?

  • Hard to say, because I haven't played either of the console versions. Judging from the screenshots, I would say the PS3 version has better graphics, but take that with a grain of salt, because im just speculating. I haven't seen the X360 version though, but I would guess thats also almost the same.

  • @BRUTESH0T there better than both

  • it looks like it is running great but can u help me im getting a SAGER NP2092 and it will have -- ~Intel® T9300 45nm "Penryn" Core™2 Duo 2.5GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 800MHz FSB - 2092

    - 512MB PCI-Express nVidia GeForce 8600GT DX10

    - None Standard

    - ~ 4,096MB DDR2 667 PC2 5300 (2 SODIMMS) Dual Channel - ~ 250GB 5400RPM (Serial-ATA 150) - 2092

~Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Installed

will it run better than yours please tell me

  • should run fine :)

make sure your ESD safe if youre putting together your own desktop

  • ya but will it run better than this vid?

  • it should run about the same....almost identical specs

and hey get the faster hdd for sure!

there is a big difference between 7200rpm and 5400...

    at least from my experience.

there is that western digital raptor drive that you could get it spins at 10,000 rpms :P

    kinda expensive though.

  • If you were running it under Vista, its hard to say, but under XP, I think it would run at about the same speed. The increase in memory is useless under XP, because XP cannot read more than 2GB of ram properly, so its pointless, and under Vista, that 4GB will be like having 2GB under XP, so I think the performance will be the same.

  • how do u set the AF in ut3?

  • it is amazing,is only a portable!what a computer!

  • I'm getting this macbook pro as well.

Thanks for the videos. Looks good.

By any chance you could do a "Company of Heroes" benchmark? Im eager to know what the results are, couldn't find any video of it so far.

    Thanks

  • See what happens when you do that? Now shut up..and get off YouTube.

Now, not only do you come off confirmed as looking 100% retarded by anyone who reads these comments...but you've lost all credibility from here on in (not that you had any to begin with).

  • Assuming your right and the "new" GX600 does have a score of 3700....and the "old" Macbook Pro has a score of 4674...this shows that the Macbook Pro is much, much faster than the GX 600. EITHER way you're wrong, and I don't give 2 shit about how you blew your prom money...that does not give you lame ass excuses to pull out random facts out of your ass for a laptop that you were going to get "if you had the money", just so you can defend yourself.

  • 4100? Are you stupid...I just proved you FLAT out wrong...the previous Santa Rosa Macbook Pro's were themselves 4674 WITH the benchmark links...the Penryn ones are probably even faster, around 4700-4800ish I would say once the drivers mature. Thats still a big difference dumass. Admit it, your trolling was shot down by actual evidence which shows otherwise, and now you're cornered.

  • Then shut the hell up, because your laptop is not faster than the Macbook Pro...infact its slower, a LOT slower. Don't talk anymore, please...you bring out the idiot in you every time. Contradicting every other post you make...

You get what you pay for. Just because it has higher specs doesn't mean that its actually faster...a LOT of other factors are also involved, mostly software based. Without knowing that you cannot make stupid comments like that...which you manage to do EVERY single time.

  • Stupid comment? How old are you? You saying firestripes look awesome on that trash is like saying aiming a flashlight in your eye while driving is "awesome"....its utterly ugly, and messy looking...not to mention the fact that the colors dont even match the laptop....you need style and speed...obviously neither of which you have...as the physical appearance of the laptop as well its 3DMark 06 scores have shown.

  • Look at the link I sent you loser:

    3DMark 06 Scores:

    Macbook Pro - 4674

    MSI GX600 - 3290

Its the Macbook Pro that "pwns" the GX600. Go take your cheap trash talk somewhere else.

  • Here are 3DMark 06 results comparing the Macbook Pro to the GX 600....see which "pwns" which:

    1. Dell XPS M1710 - 4744

    2. Macbook Pro - 4674

    3. Alienware M7700 - 4085

    4. Dell Precision M90 - 3926

    5. Asus G1S - 3816

    6. MSI GX600 - 3290

    ...

The results speak for themselves...and this is with the 256MB 8600M GT on the Macbook Pro vs 512MB on the GX 600. Admit it...thats one ugly cheap piece of trash of a laptop.

  • 7. It's a LAPTOP made by MSI...which is like Nike making orange juice...

    8. ITS NOT CONSIDERED A TRUE GAMING LAPTOP....an 8600M GT is not a TRUE gaming graphics card...its good, but not for "hardcore gaming"...that would be done by the job of an 8800M GTX.

  • 1. NO where does it say it is faster than the current Macbook Pro's

    2. you CAN customize the Macbook Pro with the 512MB VRAM option as well

    3. You cannot upgrade the GX 600...you have to get it serviced by an MSI technician

    4. The GX600 has a meager battery life of 3.5hrs...compared to the Macbook Pro's 5hrs

    5. The Macbook Pro weighs 5.4lbs, compared to the GX600's 6.25lbs

    6. The GX 600 has chassis flex issues

  • NONE of these apply to the GX 600...as it looks like its a bunch of spare parts taken from the garbage and put together and labelled as a "gaming laptop"....when infact its performance is not even NEAR what a true "gaming" laptop's performance is. Your GX 600 doesn't "pwn" the Macbook Pro in any way...infact, the performance is almost par....BUT the GX 600 looks a Dell of a lot uglier...err I meant hell.

  • A near care free operating system that is very stable, secure, fast, and looks good is MORE than enough to warrant an additional overhead of $100. The aluminum case on the Macbook Pro...actually serves a purpose, unlike the stupid case design on the GX 600. It can withstand scratches to a FAR greater extent, be able to withstand far greater heat from the processor and GPU as compared to a plastic enclosure, and as an added bonus even looks clean, streamlined, and visually appealing.

  • The GX 600 is NOT $1300....its $1600...with the aforementioned specs. If you get a student discount..you can get the Macbook Pro for $300 cheaper...which actually makes it only $100 more expensive than the GX 600, not $700. And yes, I WILL pay $100 more to use OS X than Windows, because the long term benefits will eventually outweigh the initial investment, as is the case with all Macs.

  • The retarded lights on the front along with a fire stripe on the palm rest, (which just looks plain stupid at this stage in laptop design) is totally pointless, and it distracts you more than anything, not to mention making you look like a tool. The keyboard was also rated very poor, with the only "positive" thing being the indicator buttons for gaming.

  • And moreover, the so called "turbo" button is actually more destructive to the laptop THAN helpful in the long run because it is increasing the heat output without increasing the cooling solution at the same time. The fans, spinning at higher than rated is NOT a good thing. The Turbo Buttton, when pressed, overclocks the processor from 2Ghz to 2.4Ghz...which is already the stock speed of the Macbook Pro.

  • Not to mention that the GX600 looks like the ugliest piece of crap looking like a chrome platted brick. Firestripes on the front?....what is this a joke?. The Macbook Pro was NEVER intended as a serious gaming laptop...and NEITHER is the GX 600, but its superficial overkill crap exterior design make it look so, just like the reviews state. First of all having a mindset that laptop gaming is best is wrong to begin with...as that should be left to desktops, or consoles.

  • What are you talking about? Everywhere, the MSI GX600 has gotten mixed to poor reviews. The graphics card is the EXACT same as on the Macbook Pro...the 8600M GT with a 512MB VRAM option. The Processor is SLOWER by default than the Macbook Pro....the MBP can come stock at 2.4Ghz...while its stock is only 2.0, and the ram too is EXACTLY the same...PC-5300 DDR2 2GB...by stock.

  • omg thats soo sweat, I feel totally inferior that i have crappy the 8400m gs, anyways im gonna sell my laptop and buy a vostro 1500 with the 1337 8600m gt 256ddr2 & 2gb ram, do you think my performance will be similar to yours even if i opt for the c2d 1.6ghz?? im kindda tight on budget...

  • The 8600M GT on the Macbook Pro uses GDDR3 memory speeds, not the GDDR2 variation the Dell has. This means the GPU memory on the MBP will be running faster. Also, 1.6Ghz, vs 2.4Ghz is a HUGE difference in speed, even on a budget, thats kind of a huge negative tradeoff. You should have atleast a 2Ghz C2D processor for a card like the 8600M GT, just to be aware of preventing bottlenecks due to a slower main processor.

  • Not all Dell's have DDR2,

    My XPS1530 has GDDR3...

But I'm sure the Vostro, Inspiron have DDR2.

Im running UT3 with settings on 5, Vista SP1, and I get an aveage of 45 FPS.

  • oh yeah and how is the fps when you are not running fraps?

  • what was the console command you used at the start? oh and what settings where you using i just bought a new 17" mbp and havent had a chance to run games do you think it would run at native resolution 1920x1200 reasonably.

    Cheers

    Brian

  • DS ftw :)

  • i want a MB Pro but dont think its worth like £400 pound more than a MB cos i could just get an xbox 360 or ps3 and a MB...any comments?

  • i want a MB Pro but dont think its worth like £400 pound more than a MB cos i could just get an xbox 360 or ps3 and a MB...any comments?

  • i want a MB Pro but dont think its worth like £400 pound more cos i could just get an xbox 360 or ps3 and a normall MB...any comments?

  • I bet if you break th company won:t do squat. Can you do all the stuff Macs can do? I think not.

  • my point exactly and thats what i did

  • why this strange resolution? O_o

  • wow now this is something pc lovers should look at i mean they say mac sucks this macbook pro can run crysis pc lovers and lots of otehr shiet so dont be hatin on mac

  • haha seriosly who the fuck would want to play crysis on a macbook?

  • people who love games and hav a macbook pro

  • I think the more presing qusetion is jsut how useful a mac is besides rendering. The amount of software out for the PC compared to Mac is not evn competition. PC has more than a 10-1 ratio over macs adn PC's still own up to 90% of the world market users. And it ain't true that mac is virus free, just no on really creates viruses for the mac, if mac popularity grows continually, then there might be some as bad as there are on the PC.

  • Well look at what that software is; 1, its mostly anti virus or malware 2, its all malware crap. Macs are better at most thing not just rendering. Just because people don:t make viruses for mac doesn:t prove much. the Mac os is designed so no Application can modify the system. MacUnix is 99.9% safe from any kind of virus. Try deleting you Mac hard drive see if it will allow you to evan move it.

  • ....the same sort of person that plays it on a windows laptop....

    ...what a thundercunt.

  • it stoped being a mac when he went into windows

  • Uhh my 2 year old PC plays Crysis on Medium settings with AA and AF Maxed out at 40FPS with half the ram, x1950pro 256mb, and an AMD 3800+. Also for the price of this Macbook I could build a PC that would SLAUGHTER it.

  • Firstly, your 2 year old PC, has an X1950Pro, which is much more powerful than an 8600M GT, and secondly you are comparing a laptop to a custom built PC you bafoon. Obviously it would come out cheaper with better parts. Why dont you try BUYING a laptop with the same specs for a much cheaper price, then we'll talk.

  • Hmm. Bafoon? I'm not the one that paid $2800 for a fucking laptop. For $400 less you could get the Asus G2sg-A1 (Newegg Item Number: N82E16834220284) which has a 2.5ghz C2D, 8700GT, 4gb of Ram, 320gb HDD, and 17" Display. This further proves my point with CrApple and how they assfuck their customers when it comes to pricing. They treat their customers like shit. Just like with the Mac Pro's and the 8800GT upgrade kit. They told anyone with a 1st gen that their option was to buy a brand new Mac.

  • You pay more for the thinner frame and aluminum i guess. No need to diss apple for making overpriced products, just buy whatever you want.

  • Plus, you are for a fact lying because NO video card and a CPU like that (Including nVidia 9 series), can play Crysis on 720P and above resolutions with 32X AA and 32X AF, so stop your bullshitting.

  • why wasn't your health going down

  • very smooth. do you have ddr2 or ddr3 8600m gt?

  • GDDR3 8600M GT :)

  • cheeaaater :P

  • nice video, but next time GET ON WITH IT

  • Which is the code to have all the weapon of one?

  • cual es el codigo para tener todas las armas de una?

  • seriously dude how much did you spend on that macbook?

  • $2799 CAD

  • it doset look like he geting hit

  • does your 8600 have DDR2 or DDR3?

  • I asked if his 8600 Graphics card is DDR 2 or 3, not his system memory. Dumb kid.

  • its a ddr3 vram.

  • THAS THIS IS A CRAZY 15in lappy

  • im pretty exited to see how it runs with these settings cause im gonna be building a laptop for school and using the exact same config as this laptop. however ill be running ubuntu and xp instead of OSX.

As to what post proccesing is exactly im not to certain, however the difference between default and vivid is very slight(vivid is brighter and shiny) and intense seems to be sharper and darker.

  • OO Flag Carrier o look me run o damn "Manta"

    I hate those things

  • Dude i only wanna say it run's great on ur MAc

I m runing it at 640x480 high all and im satisfied.Who the hell says we need to run it all Super uber maxed out

About the game I only wanna say that if ur one of the lucky guy to have a monster of PC then this is the thing to test it's Performances

  • Sweet, you get to use Griff's pitbull hoverboard, so do the female characters get the pink one? Lol...kidding, anyway, about the fps, does it do that well using 1024x768 resolution?

  • Hey bojo! Hoveboards don't work on watah!... UNLESS YOU GOT POWAH!

  • anyone know what post processing does ????

  • It controls the level of HDR lighting.

  • BeastFromTheEast is a no0b. N0ob no0b. hypebeast. beezy. haha.

  • Wat do u use to run pc games on a macbook?

  • use bootcamp that's the best out of parallels or crossover or vmware fusion bootcamp all the way and did I mention it's free unlike all the other.download bootcamp for free.

  • I will never use windows ever again, goodbye gaming! MBP is a work horse, I use it to make money on a daily basis who needs fucking gaming.

  • You are a n00b 'BeastFromTheEast70', he using xp via bootcamp and if he wanted dx10 he could install vista. Too bad DX 10 sucks(My rig has a Q6600,4GB,1TB,SLI 8800GTX) Period, DX10 Sucks -> DX10.1 is due why? Because even Microsoft knows that DX10 sucked with low FPS etc. So just based on that, I have bought a new MBP and have just sold my Windows "shitsta" Gaming rig.

  • "ill get 100 fps if i run this in 640x400... "

    That's nice, this guy's resolution is 1088x612

"i can also play other games u cant since u got apple.."

He's playing his games in Windows XP dumbass. -_-

"Oh yeah you are also running this in dx9 since os x doesnt have dx10"

DX10 works on the Macbook Pro. He's using XP because it performs better than Vista.

"im playing the game on higher settings with a notebook that cost half yours."

    Let's see it then.

  • pwned

  • totally

  • Wow, you are a tool. Did you even watch the vid?

    ToyFromTheEast most like it.

  • that vehicle pwns

  • cheater :-)

  • Nice song. ^^

    Who's the artist?

  • no clue...this song was always featured in UT games.

  • Okay man, you have to tell me...HOW can you run a game that looks THIS INCREDIBLE on a system with only 256 MB of graphics memory? This is awesome!

  • You only need massiva amount of memory when playing on ultra high resolution... 1088x612 is not high... Too bad the mbp is too expensive for me that backlit keyboard is sweet....

  • I have to say Kam your videos are the ones that make me the most excited about getting a MB Pro, the performance you get out of it compared to a PC laptop is ludicrous. I don't think I can stretch to 4GB till next year so it'll have to wait as it's nearly Nov time.

  • Also I did ask in the other vid but have you decided if your gonna use the XP DX10 hack or install Vista yet? It would be a shame to play Crysis in DX9.

  • To be honest I don't know at the moment. How well does the hack work under XP? The last thing in my mind now is installing Vista for gaming on my MBP, primarily because no game can actually achieve higher FPS under Vista than XP. I really do want to test the Dx10 capabilities of the card, and so far I haven't been able to under XP. But maybe, just maybe ;).

  • Thanks :)

  • No problem, I enjoy your videos. So I take it from your comment your gonna run Crysis under XP for the moment? I've no idea how good the hack is but I must admit I would prefer to install XP as A: I have a legal copy and B: It's faster the n Vista even if it doesn't look as nice.

  • When are you planning to get your MBP? :D. It is one heck of a speed demon, considering its size, weight, and thinness. Power can look beautiful at the same time with the MBP, I can assure you that. :D.

  • I shall be ordering it next Friday!! As long as it comes with Leapord installed that is. I'm getting the 15.4" 2.4ghz Core2Duo with the 7200RPM 160GB drive and 2 GB ram, get teh Crucial later, I'm also getting the Glossy screen, I've looked at both side by side and prefer it. It'll be my only PC but it's everything I want so the fact it's a laptop is great.

  • how do you get leopard factory installed? for the canadians(i don't know about anywhere else), you have to pay $12 for a cD copy and you have to install yourself.. but i don't know that for sure

  • You have to buy a new Mac on the 26th onwards I guess. All Macs will come with Leapord preinstalled after it's released.

  • oh... cheers!

  • Yeah first to comment!! So tell us, does the extra 2GB make a big difference?

That is INSANE, UT3 at 40FPS!!

  • The extra 2Gb makes NO difference whatsoever under XP, however under Vista, it is important to have 4Gb when playing texture intensive games like UT3, FSX, CO4, etc...and most definately Crysis.

  • I got 4Gb because OS X can use it to its fullest potential...not because of gaming under Windows...I know that most games now still haven't reached the full 2Gb usability barrier. OS X just flies with 4Gb...it's insanely fast. I spend most of my time under OS X, so its important I have the memory there. :)

  • Thanks for the reply's buddy. I have one more question though which is do you use Windows XP 32 bit on your Mac or is it the 64 bit version?

  • Im running XP 32bit. :)
